On Friday I went to South bank Cinema to see the movie the Fighter. Dicky Ecklund(christian Bale) is a boxing legend who was greatest success was knocking Sugar Ray Robinson and is having problems with crack cocaine. His half Brother Micky Ward(Mark Wahlberg)an 30 year old welterweight boxer in Lowell, Massachusettes who has been the struggling journeyman boxer and who has been living in the shadows of his big brother as has been losing fight after fight. Mick is managed by his mother Alice (Melissa Leo) who is tougher than nails and Dicky serves as his trainer. Gerry and the Pacemakers Australian tour 2011

In March this year, legendary British 60's pop group Gerry and the Pacemakers are touring Australia with Melbourne rock group the All Stars as the support act. Gerry Marsden along with his brother Freddie on drums, Les Chadwick on Bass guitar and Arthur Mack on piano which he was eventually replaced by Les Maguire in 1959 in Liverpool. The group played around Liverpool and Germany and were managed by Brian Epstein who managed the Beatles, Cilla Black and others which in 1963 signed up with EMI columbia. From 1963-67 had hits like How Do You It, I Like it, You'll never Walk Alone, I'm the one, Don't Let the Sun catch you crying, Ferry Cross the Mersey and many others and made their very first Australian tour in April 1964 with Gene Pitney,Dusty Springfield and Brian Poole and the Tremeloes which they played in brisbane @ Festival Hall on April 20th and Melbourne on April 14th and 16th. On Sunday I went to South Bank Cinema to see the movie "Black Swan". Nina sayers (Natalie Portman) an ballerina from New York who is consumed with Ballet and lives with her obsessive mother Erica(barbara Hershey) who was an ballerina and exerts control over her. Thomas Leroy the ballet director (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace the prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre(Winona Ryder) for the new production of Swan Lake and Nina is the first choice which then she would have an new rival named Lily (Mila Kunis) an dancer. As these 2 dancers expand the rivalry into a twisted friendship Nina starts to go in to her dark side and it's gets very interesting. On Friday night me and my Mum Cath went to see the movie "The King's Speech" @ Balmoral Cinema. it's 1936 and with the death of his father King George V(Michael Gambon) as well as as the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII(Guy Pearce) to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson (Eve Best) Bertie the Duke of York(Colin Firth) who has suffered from a speech problem all of his life is crowned King George VI of England suddenly. Adam Brand concert @ Kedron-wavell January 15th 2011

Last Saturday night went to see Australian country singer Adam Brand @ Kedron-Wavell and it was an FANTASTIC show. Before the show started Adam came out to do autograph signings for an hour starting @ 7pm and when i arrived I bought an badge at the merchandise stand. Adam came out to do the signings when i got an autograph and a photo with him and went inside the Blue Pacific Room which i waited for a while. the support act Saw Hawksley came on first which he was very good as he did his own songs and did "it Does'nt Matter Anymore and also he told some really good stories. He Cd's on sale during the break and I got sam's autograph and a photo with him. Adam Brand came on and put on an FANTASTIC show which he did songs from his new album "It's Gonna Be OK" as well as his hits too and when he did Blue Sky he and sam on one of the tables which he sang it without an microphone.Also during one f the songs his aunt and sister came on stage to perform. there was

On Sunday Went to South bank Cinema to see the movie "Unstoppable". Will Coleson(chris Pine)an new employee @ AWVR meets Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington)whose been working there for 28 years and are working on 1206. Meanwhile an bunch of school children are going on a field trip and due to handling error another train 777 carrying toxic chemicals is going out of control and it's up to Will and Frank to stop the train derailing on a curve, It's action packed and a BRILLIANT movie and it's also tense and excellent as well. This afternoon I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie "Somewhere" which it's been opened since Boxing Day. Johnny Marco(Stephen Dorff) is an actor in Los Angeles is going through an time of excess which he is living at the Cheateau Marmont Hotel. An visit from his 11 year old daughter Cleo (Elle Fanning) and he starts to re-examine his life. it's an excellent and a superb movie with Excellent acting by Stephen Dorff who is also superb as Johnny, Elle Fanning is excellent as Cleo and excellent acting by Chris Pontius, Michelle Monaghan and others. It's directed by Sofia Coppola who also screen wrote the film which she does an excellent job directing this film and also one of the producers with her dad francis Ford and brother Roman. It's an must see and i give this 4 and a half stars. it's in the cinemas now.

In March this year Cotton Keays and Morris which has Daryl Cotton of the Zoot known for the hits like Monty & me, 1x2x3x4, Eleanor Rigby and the solo hit the Same Old Girl in 1980 and in the 80's hosted the Early Bird Show, Jim keays of the legendary 60's Australian group the Masters Apprentices known for the hits like Because I Love You, Turn Up Your Radio, Living In A Child's Dream, Elevator Driver, 5.10 Man, Undecided etc and Russell Morris known for hits like the Real Thing, Rachel, Sweet Sweet Love, Wings Of A Eagle and many others are touring Queensland which they will be playing @ Currumbin and 2 Brisbane shows Caboolture and Wynnum and if you want to see them live SEE THEM as they put on an great show doing the songs they made famous and always brings back memories for people who lived in that era. Just yesterday I went to the South bank Cinema to see the movie Love and Other Drugs. it's 1996 and Jamie Randall(jake Gyllenthall) is working in a electronic store which he is talking females into buying phones and stereos and he loses his job after flirting with his owners' girlfriend. Jamie then works for Pfizer who sells Viagra,Zoloft, Zithromax and anti depressant and meets Maggie Murdock(Anne Hathaway)who has Parkinson's and is an alluring free spirit who wont let anyone or anything tie her down and Jamie whose charms serve him with the laides and their relationships takes by surprise as they are under the influence of the main drug-LOVE. On Sunday i went to the movies @ Southbank Cinema to see The Tourist. Elise (angelina Jolie) is being followed by a number who are working for Scotland Yard and gets a letter from Alexander Pearce an former lover with explicit directions to board an train to go to Venice Italy and on the train ride she meets an guy named Frank Tupelo(Johnny Deep) who is an maths teacherand he instantly attracted to her. They have to evade the police and the mobster named Reginald Shaw (steven Berkoff) whose money Pearce had stolen and it gets very interesting throughout the movie. It's an remake of a movie called Anthony Zimmer an french movie back in 2005 and it's an excellent action packed thriller movie. Angelina Jolie is excellent as Elise and so is Johnny Deep as Frank and so is the other actors including Timothy Dalton who plays Chief Inspector Jones, Paul bettany plays Inspector John Acheson, Steven Berkoff is excellent as Reginald shaw, Rufus Sewell, Christian De Sica, Alession Boni etc

a look at 2010

As i am writing this we now in the first hour of 2011 and may it be an good one for everyone. I would like to take a look at 2010 and to look at how an interesting year it was for me. Did the shave for a cure in March which Paul and his mum Val from bowling were there and i raised $1,764 dollars. Still doing the mail @ St Andrews after 11 years and had an very interesting year there as the front entrance was opened as well as the new building which the Governor general Quinten Bryce opened it and got an photo with which was an highlight. We had some of the staff members being made redundant through April and May as well as people leaving as well including Barry Coker(Engineering), Lil from Physical Sciences, Paul Tooma from Engineering, Daphne Laker Jones, Di from Allied Health, Sharon ROse and others and also met new people like Nellie, Ashleigh, Jess, Rebecca, Bernice, Davis, Stephen, Sinead,Cassie,Amy Buckett, Tiffany, and others.
