A Look at 2011

_ Hard to believe it's the end of 2011 and i would like to say it's been interesting one for me but it's been an great one. let's starting with the Floods which it was an terrible time for those people who lost their homes and loved ones but at least they have got through it somehow. Thank Goodness for me and my family we were not affected by the floods as we are on an hill as well as my sister and her family were not affected even though parts of Allora were flooded and I had just gotten back to work when the floods happened which i returned on monday Janaury 10th and the Tuesday when it starting to happen which some of the staff urged me not to risk coming in to work considering how bad it was going to be. I left work at 12.25pm, walk to roma street station which i had to wait for an hour and 25 minutes for an train which the 12.50pm was cancelled, 2nd came at about 1.45pm but it was full and i eventualy caught the 3rd train at 1.50pm which i caught the t

The Iron Lady

On Wednesday i went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the Movie the Iron Lady which it's about British Prime Minster Margaret Thatcher, meryl Streep plays Margaret Thatcher who look back @ her life starting as an eager young woman played by Alexandra Roach an daughter of an grocer who was an Alderman starting her career in politics in the 50's met her future husband Denis (harry Lloyd), becoming Prime Minster in 1979 until 1990 which had events happening like the Falklands War, IRA Bombings and other events. It's an BRILLIANT film with an totally BRILLIANT performance by Meryl Streep who should be considered for an Oscar and this role is one of the best performances of her career which she really nails it BRILLIANTLY. Other brilliant performances by Jim broadbent, harry Lloyd, Alexandra Roach, Anthony head, Nicholas Farrell, Olivia Colman, Richard E Grant and others. Happy Feet 2

On Tuesday I went to the balmoral Cinema with mum and heath to see the sequel to Happy Feet called Happy Feet 2. Erik(ava Arces)and Gloria(Pink) son of Mumble(Elijah Wood)is struggling to realize that he has talents in the world of Emperor Penguin. meanwhile Bill(Brad Pitt) and Will(Matt Damon) are determined to rise up the food chain and there is large icebergs that have struck the penguins home which traps the entire Emperor Penguin population below the large walls of ice which it gets interesting throughout the movie. it's excellent and very funny movie with excellent performances by Robin Williams who play both Ramon/Lovelace, Elijah Cook, Pink, Brad Pitt,Matt Damon, Hank Azaria, Lil P Nut, Hugo Weaving, Anthony LaPaglia, Magda Szubanski, Richard Hughes and many others doing the voices. Dolphin Tale

On Saturday I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Dolphin Tale which it's inspired by an true story. Sawyer (Nathan Gamble) an boy who is feeling sad when his cousin Kyle(Austin Stowell) leaves to go into the army and is biking along the beach when an fisherman (Richard Libertini)calls him for help as he discovers an dolphin who is injured tangled in an crab web. they call for help and the rescuers from Clearwater MArine Hospital ran by Dr Clay Haskett(Harry Connick Jr) take the dolphin for treatment which Clay's daughter Hazel(Cozi Zuehlsdorff) names it Winter. Rockabilly Christmas Party @ Morningside Services Club

Last Saturday December 17th I went to the Rockabilly Christmas Party @ Morningside Services Club which it was my 4th time having been going there since Saturday December 13th 2008 but it was the first to have at Morningside Services after Being at Holland park Bowls Club for 2 years. The bands playing on the night were the SHakin Quavers, All Star Rockers and the Ten Fours and the shakin Quavers were the first on stage which they did an FANTASTIC set doing original songs as including doing some from an EP which they did years ago now on CD with Rupert playing excellent guitar as always and during the Interval I bought the CD which I played it on Tuesday night and it sounds so good as well as giving an card to Lori. The second act All Star Rockers came on which had Paulie,Lori,theresa, leapin lawrie and Mitch singing songs which I particualry seeing Lori sing which she was really good. the 3rd and final act were the Ten Fours which they were FANTASTIC too playing great. The 6 box CD set called the Clarke Hicks and Nash by legendary British group the Hollies was on CD back in May this year which i had only bought this an few weeks ago so i am going to review this anyway. This 6 CD set has recordings of the Hollies with Graham NAsh who was in the group from the formation in December 1962 in Manchester,England until December 8th 1968 when he left the Hollies to go and form Crosby Stills Nash and Young who went on to greater success and it has the 8 albums he played, the A and B sides of the singles, his final recordings with the group which many were not released at that time, there is french versions of some of the songs, 7 EP's and there is an live performance @ Lewisham Odeon on 24th May 1968 which they perform 7 songs. It's an BRILLIANT AND AWESOME CD with great stuff and great songs which still endures after 48 years when the Hollies had their first hit. the songs are just so good to listen to as well hearing the french versions of some o

The legendary 1973 album Quadrophenia by British rock group the Who is on CD again which there an 5 CD set of it as well but I am reviewing the Deluxe Double CD version. This album was released on October 19th 1973 which was recorded @ Olympic Studios and Ronnie Lane's Mobile Studio and this was their second rock opera which the first being Tommy in 1969 which this time on the album it's about the period of 1964 and 1965 with the story involved social, musical and pscyhological happenings in brighton and London of an character named Jimmy and also on this remastered double album it has the original tracks as well as the demos of them which it sounds much different to what was on the album. Between the spring of 1966 and the summer of 1967 the Beach Boys were recording songs and drafts for an album called SMILE originally called Dumb Angel that was going to be the follow up to the 1966 classic album "Pet Sounds" and Brian Wilson called this next project an Teenage Symphony TO God. Brian got together with Van Dyke Parks an former child actor as well as an record producer,musician and songwriter who had played on the Byrds no 44 US hit 5D (Fifth Dimension) in 1966 to write songs for SMILE.the Beach Boys were having great success at that time with the million selling hit single "Good Vibrations" number 1 in the USA,UK and no 2 in Australia as well as becoming the number 1 vocal group edging out the Beatles in the end of year poll in the New Musical Express an British rock magazine at the time. This is the latest solo album from Beach Boys member and singer-songwriter Brian Wilson. This is the follow up to the Reimagines Gershwin album which he did last year(2010) and in this album he records some of his favourite Disney musical classics which includes vintage classics like When you Wish Upon A Star which inspired Brian to write Surfer Girl, Stay Awake,Hiegh Ho & whistle While You Work, Baby Mine up to recent Disney songs like Can You Feel The Love tonight, I just Can't Wait To be King, We Belong Together from Toy Story 3, Colours Of The Wind and others. it's an excellent album with excellent songs which Brian Wilson does an excellent performance doing these songs which he also produces this album. it's an must for any Beach Boys fans which i hope you will enjoy listening to this album and I give this 4 stars which it's now in the shops.

This is the 10th solo album for legendary Australian singer as well as lead singer of the Seekers Judith Durham which it's called Epiphany. In this album Judith sings about loss,grief, animal rights, womens issues,hope and other relationships. It's an BRILIANT & EXCELLENT album with Judith still in great voice as ever with that unqiue voice and she wrote all the songs on this album with people like Mark Holden who sings Starting All Over Again, Graham Simpson who wrote her biography Colours of My Life, Shelley Bovey, Diana Abruzzu,Frank Howson and others. Judith is the associate producer on this album along with Graham Simpson as executive producer and among the musicians on this album are ex Little River Band member Ric Formosa and Michael Cristiano. it's an must for any Seekers fans as well as fans of Judith's solo work and I give this 4 and an half stars which it's now in the shops

This CD is the compilation of the legendary Australian singer as well as the lead singer of the Australian group the Seekers Judith Durham who is celebrating 50 years in the music business. in this CD it has songs that includes her very first recording in 1963 on the W&G label with Moan You Mourners as well as 4 of the Seekers stuff including Georgy Girl, Colours of My Life from the 1967 album Seen In Green, her solo hit in 1967 "The Olive Tree" and the rest are her solo stuff which inlcudes an new song called I Celebrate Your Life My Baby from her new album Epiphany.
