After Hours Glenn Frey

After Hours is the latest album by American singer-songwriter as well as an member of the legendary American group the Eagles Glenn Frey. It is Glenn's first solo album in 20 years since when he released Strange Weather in 1992 and this album has standards from the 1940's-60's and as the title track written by Glenn and Jack Tempchin. The album was recorded at the The Doghouse in Los ANgeles, California with Glenn producing and arranging the album with Richard FW Davis and Michael Thompson who also play with Glenn on this album. and it's mixed by Elliott Scheiner as well as the orchestral arrangements are done by ALan Broadbent. It's an excellent and Brilliant album with an excellent performance and singing by glenn Frey who is in fine form and he sings the songs very well which among them are Caroline No(from pet Sounds by the Beach Boys), my buddy, Route 66, Worried Mind, Same Girl and many others. The orchestra musicians are just playing brilliantly on the album

Gabe Phoenix Show @ Carina Leagues Club May 26th 2012

On Saturday May 26th I went to carina Leagues CLub to see the ELvis Tribute perfromer Gabe Phoenix which it was my 5th time seeing him as I saw him 4 times at Wintersun 2009 on Wednesday June 3rd 2009 @ Seagulls and at the Free Show @ Gold COast Airport stage on Sunday June 7th 2009 and Wintersun 2010 at the civic centre oN Wednesday June 9th 2010 and the Gold COast Airport stage on Saturday June 12th 2010. the show started at 8pm with the back up band the Premiers which includes Arnold Lovejoy on guitar did an set songs of stuff by the Drifters, Manhattan Transfer, Sam Cooke, Dion and others and at about 8.27pm Gabe Phoenix came on stage which he did 3 sets that were the early elvis, the comeback special and the vegas years which was the later years and in those sets he did the classic Elvis Presley hits as well as some album tracks and in some of the songs Gabe would walking through the crowd shaking hands and the women kissing and hugging him too. Let's have a look at the 1975 album by the Bee Gees called Main Course which was the 13th album for the group. the Avengers show @ Easts Leagues Club May 19th 2012

On Saturday May 19th I went to Easts Leagues CLub to see the Legendary Brisbane rock pop group the Avengers which it was 6th time seeing them as well as my 4th time seeing them so far this year this year. The show started at 7.30pm which they did 4 FANTASTIC sets of stuff from ELvis, Buddy Holly,The BEatles, Dion Di Mucci, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac, Chuck Berry and others and this time added an few different songs which was just great as you need to do different songs sometimes to keep it fresh. They did Don't Stop and Have you ever seen the rain for me which was nice of them to do that as well as during the 2nd set an guitarist named Simon came on stage for a few songs and the show lasted until 11.30pm when it finished. On Friday May 18th I went to Mt Gravatt Bowls CLub to see Cotton Keays and Morris show which it was my 5th time seeing them.The show started at 8.20pm with just Jim Keays and Russell Morris coming on stage as they in the early minutes of the show that Daryl Cotton was not well which was the reason why he was not there and for the next 1 hour and 3o minutes Jim and Russell did many of their famous stuff like Jim's stuff with the Masters Apprentices as well as the title track from the 1975 album Boy From the Stars and Russell did his famous solo hits from the 60's & 70's and they did other people's songs as well. This week's classic album segment let's go back to the 50's this time which the album I am reviewing is the 1957 album by US pioneering rocker Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps called Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps. this album was the follow up to the first album called Blue Jean Bop that was released in 1956 and this album was recorded on June 27th,October 16th,17th and 18th 1956 which it was released on March 4th 1957 which it was released on the Capitol label. It was produced by Ken Nelson who also wor ked with Merle Travis, Hank Thompson,Wanda Jackson, Ferlin Huskey and many others and on background vocals were the legendary vocal group the Jordanaires who was working with Elvis Presley at the time as well as later on Ricky nelson, Jim Reeves,Connie Francis, Patsy Cline, Johnny Horton and many others. LAst Saturday May 12th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see Brisbane group Dance which it was my 3rd time seeing them as I saw both at carina Leagues club in 2008 and 2009 and the current line up os different as the drummer named Sylvia has retired as well as Dave Davis who has left and is replaced by Peter Van ROy as well as on the night of the show Rick Harris the current guitarist was there so peter played guitar on the night.The show started @ 7.30pm which they did 4 great sets doing stuff by Elvis, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Lonnie Lee, Buddy Holly, Little RIchard as well as some country stuff and Peter the guitarist was just excellent on the night as well. The show finished at 11.30pm which it was an great show which the band were great and everyone had an great time including me. DAryl Braithwaite Queensland tour

LAte this month legendary Australian singer Daryl braithwaite is doing an an 4 date Queensland tour starting on May 31st. Daryl who is known for being the lead singer of the legendary Australian rock group Sherbet with hits like Summer Love, Cassandra, Free the People, Life, You've got the Gun, Howzat and many classics as well as the successful solo hits including You're My WOrld, One Summer, Rise, All I Do, Higher Than Hope and the Horses. This week's classic album segment is I am looking at the 1966 album by legendary British rock band the Rolling Stones. By this time in 1966 the Stones were riding high with successful hits Like It's All Over Now, Little Red Rooster, Time Is On My Side, The Last time, Get Off My Cloud, Satisfaction, 19th nervous Breakdown and others and had successful albums like the Rolling Stones , 12x5, Out of Our Heads and December's Children. The recording for Aftermath began @ RCA studios in Hollywood on December 3rd 1965 which lasted til the 8th and again from March 6th-9th 1966 with manager Andrew Loog Oldham who produced the album and Dave Hassinger did the engineering. the album was released on April 15th 1966 iN England which went to number 1 where it stayed there for 28 weeks and no 2 in the USA when it was released on June 20th where it stayed there for 50 weeks and there were no hits from that album in ENgland but some of the songs were hits for others like Take It Or Leave It

the album Gift Of Song was the second solo album for Judith Durham lead singer of the legendary Australian group the Seekers and it is now out on CD. This week's classic album segment is this time an Australian one released in 1971 which it was the 3rd album by rock group the Masters Apprentices. The group were formed in Adelaide in 1965 originally called the Mustangs with Jim Keays(vocals),Mick Bower(Rhythm guitar), Rick morrison(lead guitar), Gavin Webb(Bass) and Brian Vaughton(drums) and who had played around Adelaide at places like the Beat Basement began recording with Astor Records in late 1966 which they had hits like Undecided, Buried and Dead, Living In A CHild's Dream and Elevator Driver and also during the early success one by one most of the original guys from the Adelaide line up left as had different musicians replacing them including Peter Tillbrook, Tony Sommers, Steve Hopgood before settling with the well known line up with Jim Keays, DOug FOrd, Colin Burgess and Glenn Wheatley(whom all joined in 1968). it was the line up with Jim, Glenn, Colin and doug that had more success with 5.10 Man, Think About tomor

the Chop Tops show @ Morningside Services Club

On Sunday April 29th I went to the Morningside Services Club to see the American rockabilly group the Chop Tops which I had not heard of them until it was annouced on the website robot.com.au that they were coming. My Dad dropped me off on Sunday and there were stalls happening as well as raffles and the show did'nt start until 2.45pm when the first of the 3 bands performed which were Corn Liquor which they did an FANTASTIC set which des was playing with them on the day. Then there was an interval and then the ten Fours including Paulie Burke performed which they did an FANTASTIC set too. then the Chop Tops came on stage which they were just FANTASTIC playing great with an Brilliant guitarist and an excellent drummer and also they really rocked. In between songs some of the audience got free CD's and at one time the drummer took his shirt off. the show finished at 6.20pm which it was FANTASTIC and AWESOME which everyone had an great time including me which I enjoyed myself. On Saturday April 28th in the evening after seeing the movie the Avengers I went to Carina Leagues CLub to see the Jacksonz tribute show an tribute to Michael Jackson and the JAckson Five which it was my first time seeing them as I have heard of them but had never saw them. The show started at 7.30pm with singer Dennis doing an solo set which was really good and did songs from people like Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley,the Drifters and others. there was an interval and at around 8.30pm the Jacksonz tribute show started which they did 2 impressive sets doing the Michael Jackson stuff as well as the Jackson 5 and there were 3 Brothers performing on stage as well as an great back up band including Dave from Scotland on drums, the keyboard player from South Africa as well as 3 excellent back up singers including Benson's wife as well as the guys dressing up in the 70's & 80's gear that Michael Jackson wore which was good. Last Saturday April 28th in the afternoon I went to Carindale Cinema with my friend Billy White to see the Movie the Avengers.
