Fabulous Sounds of the 60's @ Carina Leagues Club

On Saturday July 28th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see the Fabulous Sounds of the 60's with Darren J ray and the Love Bugs which it was my 14th time seeing the show as well as my 16th and it's my second time seeing the Fabulous Sounds of the 60's show this year and also 3rd time this year too. The show started @ 8pm with greg Newman doing the compere and for the next 2 and half hours did 2 FANTASTIC sets of great songs from the Seekers, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Glen Campbell, The Bee Gees, the Delltones,Gene Pitney,the Mamas and the Papas, CLiff Richard and others and the Love Bugs always do set of the girl group songs by the Supremes, Dusty Springfield, the crystals,the chiffons and others and in the first set there was an music trivia which this time I won an record which was an Seekers vinyl when I answered the question who was playing drums on Happy jack which i said Keith Moon as well as Hippy allan walking through the audience when they were doing the psy

Classic Album-Cosmo's FActory Creedence Clearwater Revival

This week's classic album segment is the 1970 album Cosmo's Factory by American group Creedence Clearwater Revival. This was the group's 5th album as they had been on the music scene since 1968 with an string of hit single including Proud Mary,Suzie Q, Green River, Bad Moon Rising and others and had played at Woodstock he year before in 1969 and at that time one of the top American Bands. This album was recorded at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco between 1969-70 which the name of the album came from the room where the band rehearsed early in their career which bandleader John Fogerty was so insisting on rehearsing everyday and the atmosphere was so smoky from the other band members cigarettes that the drummer Doug Cosmo CLifford began referring it as the Factory. the album was released in July 1970 which went to number in the USa, UK,Australia,Canada,France and Norway and it went gold by December 16th 1970 which by 1990 it received certification of 4 times platinum.

On Saturday July 21st I went to Wynnum RSL Club to see the Blues Brothers Tribute show which it was my first time seeing this act as well as my first ever going to an show there as I use to go there for dinner on Sundays for 3 years from 2002-05. The show started @ 8.15pm which the act coming on stage with the guys dressing up as the Blue Brothers with an great back up band of 2 sax players, an guitar player, pianist and drummer and for the next 2 and an bit hours would do 2 great sets of stuff from the 60's of people like Sam and Dave, Booker t and the MG's, the Temptations, Sam Cooke, Cab Calloway and others and everyone was enjoying themselves which there was 2 guys in the audience dressing up as the BLues Brothers. The show finished around 10.30pm which i left as Dad was picking me up as they were finishing up the show with Riot In Cell Block number 9. classic albums- Double Fantasy by John Lennon and Yoko ono

This week's classic album segment is the 1980 album Double Fantasy by John Lennon & Yoko Ono . In 1975 after the birth of his son Sean John Lennon decided to put his music career on hold to raise him and after the 5 year break besides from the occasional recording in his apartment as well as playing on the song Cookin(In the Kitchen Of Love) that was on ringo starr's solo album Ringo's Rotogravure in 1976 and creating an series of drawings and drafted an book that was a mix of autobiographical material and what he called mad stuff Lennon was ready to get back to work as his ambition was to do something as good as the 1977 album heroes by David Bowie. Rock'n'Roll Jamboree show @ Kedron Wavell

On Sunday July 15th I went to Kedron Wavell Services Club to see the Rock'Roll Jamboree show that was promoted by Matman Promotions and it was my 11th time seeing the Matman shows as it was an year ago when I saw Matman's show @ Coolangatta Tweed Golf CLub an year ago during Cooly Rocks on where I saw the Big Bopper Jr on Friday June 10th and the Sonics and The CHevrolets on Saturday June 11th last year. I arrived at Kedron Wavell around 1.30pm where I saw Matman,COlin,Heidi,Bob,Pauline and Ian Stokes and bought Ian B MacLeod CD "Hello Mary Lou" and DVD "Rockabilly Party". On Saturday July 14th I went to the Balmoral Bowls Club to see Dan and the Dualtones and Pat Capocci which was supposed to be at Holland Park Bowls CLub but due to had been double booked as well as Wellers Hills Bowls CLub but due to sound level restrictions they could'nt do it there so that's why they eventually have it at Balmoral. Until Saturday night I had not been at Balmoral Bowls CLub since Saturday December 7th 2002 when my cousin Allan was celebrating his 50th birthday party which me,Mum and Heath attended and being there again on Saturday night it has really changed that much. After having had an successful period in the 50's and 60's with both Sun and Columbia Records with hits like Cry Cry Cry, I Walk the Line, Hey Porter, Ballad of a Teenage Queen, Understand Your Man, Ring Of Fire and others Johnny Cash's popularity waned which was due in no part to his drug dependency but in 1967 he beat his battle with drugs as well as sought to turn his career around. On Friday July 6th I went to Kedron Wavell Services Club to see legendary Australian singing group the Delltones which it was my 9th time seeing them and it was 9 months ago when i last saw them at Mt Gravatt Bowls Club on Friday October 21st 2011.Before the show started I bought the live DVD that they did in Melbourne nearly 4 years ago and saw Carla which she told me that Pee Wee's book will be released next year. Classic Albums-Rumours by Fleetwood MAc

I'm sorry I have not done the Classic Albums segement for an month as I was down the Gold Coast for Cooly Rocks On, my trip with Mum to Rockhampton and had to catch up with the blogs of the shows I saw @ Cooly Rocks On as well as the shows at Easts Leagues CLub and Carina Leagues CLub. Let's start this segment with one of the biggest selling albums of all time Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. This was the second album with the line up of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham who had joined the group in 1975 after the departure of guitarist Bob Welch who an month ago passed away and had been with Fleetwood Mac since 1971 and with the line up of Stevie and Lindsey recorded the self title album Fleetwood Mac which was released that year of 1975 that went to number 1 in the USA as well selling 4 million copies and also had the 3 hit singles Over My Head, Rhiannon and Say You Love Me. Snow White and the Huntsman

On Sunday July 1st I went to South Bank Cinema to see the movie Snow WHite and the Huntsmen. Snow White (Kristen Stewart) who is the daughter of King Mangus has been imprisoned in the castle in Tabor as it's ruled by the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) and has escaped in to the Dark Forest. Meanwhile Eric the Huntsman(CHris Hemsworth) an widower is ordered by Ravenna to lead her brother Finn(Sam Spruell) into the Dark Forest to get Snow WHite in exchange to revive his deceased wife Sarah. the Huntsman locates Snow White in the Dark Forest which he eventually helps her escape and come upon seven dwarves and it gets interesting throughout the movie. On Saturday June 30th 2012 I went to Carina Leagues CLub to see the Beatles tribute the Beatlegs which it was my second time seeing them as I saw them at Carina Leagues Leagues 13 months ago on Friday may 13th 2011. The show started @ 8pm with the Beatlegs coming onstage doing three sets 1963-65 when they wore the suits and ties and doing the early hits like Please Please Me, She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, From Me To You, Help and others 2nd set 1966-67 which they did the period of sgt Peppers and Revolver which they wore the Sgt Pepper's Uniforms and the 3rd period 1968-69 with the long hair period and doing stuff like COme Together, Hey Jude, get Back, Lady Madonna, Ballad Of John and Yoko and others and in the interval after the 2nd set I saw 2 of the guys of the group who know of me which they have seen my blog and got photos with the guys. On Saturday June 23rd 2012 I went to Eats Leagues CLub to see Brisbane pop rock group The Avengers which it was my 8th time seeing them as well as my 6th time this year. The show started @ 7.30pm which they did FANTASTIC sets doing songs by people like CLiff Richard,Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Eagles,Creedence Clearwater Revival, Queen, and others and did an few different songs like the Bellamy Brothers and Smokie. During the 1st break i told Paul about Cooly Rocks On and during the other intervals said hello to Graham, Garth and Mick. the show finished at 11.30pm which i spoke to the guys and told Roger that I liked the CD's as well as asking about the Rock'n'Roll Spectacular as well as talking about Vance Lendich, The Planets, Whiskey Au Go Go fire as he said that there was article in that day's Courier Mail about it as Graham telling me that he saw Tony Worsley and The Fabulous Dee Jays at an Midnight Matinee.
