This week's classic album segment I am looking at the 1967 album by legendary American group Jefferson Airplane called Surrealistic Pillow which was the second album. The group were formed in San Francisco in 1965 with Paul Kantner, Jorma Kaukonen, Marty Balin, singe Anderson, Bob Harvey and Jerry Peloquin which that line-up played @ the Matrix Club on San Francisco on August 13th 1965 but that did'nt last long as Both Jerry and Bob left and were replaced by Skip Spence on drums which he was actually an guitarist and on bass Jack Casady who knew Jorma from Washington when they went to high school and also played together in an group called the Triumphs. This week's classic album segment I am looking at the 1971 album Straight Up by British group Badfinger which it was their 3rd album. By this time in 1971 Badfinger were already having successful hits with Come and Get It and No Matter What have came on the scene since 1969 having started as the Iveys and had been touring the USA and Britian honing their craft. The recordings of the album that was to become Straight Up began @ Abbey Road studios and also AIR Studios in London on May 30th 1971 which would last until October 6th and the album was released on the Apple label in the USA December 13th 1971 and in the UK February 11th 1972 which it went to number 31 in the USA. On Saturday September 15th I went to QPAC Lyric Theater to see the musical Jersey Boys which it's about the legendary American singing group the Four Seasons. I have been an fan of the Four Seasons since about 1991 which i love their songs from the 60's and 70's like Sherry,Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like A Man, Dawn, Rag Doll, Let's Hang On, December 1963(oh What A Night) etc and an great sound with lead singer Frankie Valli's distinctive voice and the songs are just great today as it was back then. The show started @ 7.30pm which went on for 2 and an half hours with the first half looks at the beginning when the group stated as the variety trio and the Four Lovers, becoming the Four Seasons and having success and in the second half looking at the problems the group were going through, line up changes and induction into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. the muscial finished after 10.05pm which I had to go to the nus stop to get the bus home and it was an FANTAST

This week's classic album segment I am looking at the debut album by legendary Australian group men At Work with Business As Usual from 1981. the group had been formed in 1979 in St Kilda with Colin hay, Ron Strykert(whom both had been in an duo playing acoustic Music), Jerry Spesier, John Rees and John Sneddon which he was then replaced by Greg Ham and had played around Melbourne at places like the Cricketers where they would there every Thursday nights for over a year. The group signed up with CBS and began recording the Album that was to become Business As Usual @ Richmond Recorders in Melbourne throughout 1981. On Saturday September 1st(my 34th Birthday) I went to the Moreton Bay Sports Club for my birthday dinner with Mum, Dad and Heath and was also seeing the Killer Queen show an tribute to legendary British rock band Queen which it was my second time seeing this band as I saw them @ Easts Leagues CLub on Saturday March 27th 2010. The show started @ about 8.40pm and for the next 2 hours the band performed many of Queen's classic stuff from the 70's and 80's which there was an interval where I bought an poster and everyone was having an great time as well as singing along to the classic songs and people dancing on the floor. the show finished beofre 11pm which an man came to me and took to the merchadise area where the lady who works in it gave me an free shirt and met Kevin the drummer who does the Roger Taylor part which i got an autograph and photo as well as with John who also is my facebook friend and also caught the courtsey bus home. On Saturday September 1st I celebrated my 34th birthday and I had an great day. On Saturday morning I woke up @ 5.54am and got the Be My baby compilation from Heath as well as vouchers from Mum which were JB Hi Fi, QBD and Dymocks and also the day before I got cards,chocolates from most of the staff @ work and an voucher from 4E @ work.
