Classic Albums- the Doors the Doors

For this week's classic segment let's have an look at the 1967 debut album by legendary American rock group the Doors called the Doors. the group were formed in 1965 in Los Angeles and had played @ the London Fog and the Whiskey Au Go Go which it was where Jac Holzman from Elektra Records spotted them along with record producer Paul A Rothchild who saw the 2 sets and were signed with the label on August 18th 1966. The recording of the debut album the Doors began @ Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood on August 24th 1966 which lasted an week later on August 31st and on january 4th 1967 the album was released which it went to number 2 in the USA which it went multi platinum but did not chart in england until 1991 due to the success of the movie that was directed by Oliver Stone that the album went to no 43 there. A is the new album by Agnetha Faltskog former member of the legendary Swedish Group ABBA. This album was recorded @ Lighthouse Studios in Lidingo and Atlantis Studio in Stockholm from January to October 2012 and it's her first solo album since 2004 when she made My Colouring Book which had covers of songs from the 60's but first album of original material since 1987 when she made the album I stand Alone and the songs are written by Jorgen Eloffson which some he co wrote with including Carole Bayer Sager, Agnetha and gary Barlow from take that which he does an duet with Agnetha on an song called I should've Followed You Home. Roimo and Juliette show @ Moreton Bay Sports Club

On Saturday May 18th I went to the Moreton Bay Sports Club to see an local singing duo called Romio and Juliette and they are actually Rita and Bruno it was my first time seeing them. I caught the bus to the club and had chicken,chips and salad for dinner and at 6.30pm the show started which for the next 4 hours Rita and Bruno did 4 great sets doing songs from Elvis presley, Bill Haley, Roy Orbison,The Eagles,Status Quo,UB40,The Drifters and many others which during one of the sets that an guy called Ross Vegas came on stage which he did those Elvis songs and also during one of the breaks I won $100 which was great and was so glad as I had not won an money draw since Sunday April 13th 2008 @ Easts Leagues CLub after seeing the Late Mick Hadley performing which I heard my name being announced as I was leaving. For this week's classic album segment let's have an look at the first international album for the Bee Gees in 1967 called Bee Gees 1st. Last Saturday I went to the Balmoral Cinema where I saw Iron Man 3. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is finding out that his personal world has been destroyed at the hands of his enemy called the Madarin (Ben Kingsley) who also wants to get the President of The United States (William Sadler) and after his home is destroyed Stark finds himself stuck in Tennessee which the world believed that he was dead but he is alive and teams up with an 10 year boy named harley (ty Simpkins)which he has to find a way to stop the evil designs of the mandarin on the President as well as coming to terms with the deranged and evil plans done by Aldrich Killan played by Guy pearce which it's interesting throughout the movie. It's an action packed and an excellent film with excellent acting by Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall who plays Dr Maya Hansen, Ty Simpkins, William Sandler, Jon Favreau and others and It's directed by Shane Black who also

Wally and the Gators show @ Moreton Bay Sports Club

On Friday May 3rd I went to the Moreton Bay Sports Club to see Wally and the Gators which it was my 5th time seeing them and I had dinner there which I had Pork Cutlet,chips and salad as well as having an cake for desert. The show started at 7pm and for the next 4 hours they did 4 great sets doing stuff by Elvis presley, Cliff Richard, The Everly brothers, Daddy Cool, ABBA, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Little Richard and others as well as getting an photo with the group during one of the breaks which for the next 3 sets sat at the table with Wally and the band as well as talking about Joe Meek the British record producer back in the 60's which Wally has an CD of it. The Show finished @ 11pm which I thanked Wally and Andrew and I caught the courtesy bus home. It was an FANTASTIC show and everyone had an great time including myself as well as Wally and the band did an FANTASTIC show which they played great too. For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1967 album by AMerican group The Byrds called Younger Than Yesterday. By this time in 1967 the Byrds were had already being already successful with hits like Mr Tambourine Man, All I Really Want to Do, Turn Turn Turn, Set You free This Time, Eight Miles High, 5D and Mr Spaceman and had been through an line up change in 1966 with the departure of tambourine, singer and main songwriter Gene Clark which the group became an quartet. Swing is the new album by legendary Australian singer Renee Geyer. this was recorded @ Alan Eaton's and Sing Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne and among the songs that on this album are 2 new versions of her 70's hits Say I love You and It's A Man's Man's World as well as other songs including I Got Rhythm, Alfie, Baby Please Don't Go. It's an BRILLIANT album with great songs and great singing by Renee Geyer which she still sounds great after all these years. This was was produced by Renee Geyer and Paul Williamson with Dave Palmer and among the musicians who played on the album were Paul Kelly who sang on Comin Home Baby, Robert Rigby was the executive producer, an 12 horn section and an 6 piece band play on the album.
