Classic Albums-Ego Is Not A Dirty WOrd Skyhooks

For this week's classic album segment after a week off let's have a look at the 1975 album by legendary Australian rock group Skyhooks called Ego Is Not A Dirty Word. The album was recorded at TCS Studios in Melbourne between January and May 1975 and it was released in July 1975 which it hit number 1 in Australia on July 21st where it stayed for 11 weeks as it sold 180,000 copies. It was produced by Ross Wilson(Daddy Cool and Mondo ROck) as he had the produced the Living In the 70's album with John French doing the engineering and from this album that it had 2 hit singles the Title track Ego Is Not A Dirty Word and All My Friends Are Getting Married which 9 of the tracks were written by Greg Macainsh including Love ON the Radio with Steve Hill who was the original lead singer of Skyhooks before Shirley Strachan and the other song Every Chase A Steeple written by Red Symonds. It is a great album with great songs which holds up very well to this day and those 2 hit single

Amazing Marcia Hines

Amazing is the new album by legendary Australian singer Marcia Hines. This album was recorded at Free Energy Device Studios in Sydney and it was produced by Tom Diesel who also did the arranging, MArcia Hines was the co Producer and Robert Rigby the executive producer and also the songs on it are all original written by Marcia Hines as well as on Remdy she does a duet with Russell Crowe and on Equals Three does a duet with Diesel. It is an BRILLIANT and a AMAZING album with great songs with great singing by Marcia who still sounds great at age 60 61 on July 20th and I think she is sounding great as ever. This album is the first album of original songs for Marcia in 20 years and it went to number 27 in the charts recently. It has been over 40 years since MArica Hines has been on the music scene and still going strong as ever which she still performs as well too. This album is a must for Marcia Hines fans as well as Australian music fans and I am giving this 5 stars which it's in

Van Diemen's Land Russell Morris

Van Diemen's Land is the new album by legendary Australian singer-songwriter Russell Morris. Following the great success with Sharkmouth he comes up with another album with Australian stories which talks about Breaker Morant, sugarcane industry in Queensland, the Gold rush in the 1850's and 1860's, the Eureka Stockade, The Lach Ard and many others and it was recorded at the Little Red Jet Studio. It is a SUPERB and BRILLIANT album with great songs and Russell sings just BRILLIANTLY and sounding great as ever at the age of 65 and this album was produced by Mitch Cairns who also engineered it as well and also among the acts that played on it were Phil Manning of the legendary Australian blues band Chain, Rick Springfield,Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil, Ross Hannaford of Daddy cool. This album has done very well which it has entered the charts at number 4 on the Australian charts and let's hope it can even go to number 1 and it has been an great few years for Russell Morris

Classic Albums- Teaser and the Firecat Cat Stevens

For this week's classic segment let's have a look at the 1971 by british singer-songwriter Cat Stevens called Teaser and the Firecat. the recording of that album was held @ Morgan Studios in London in March 1971 and it was released on October 1st 1971 which it went to number 1 in Australia where it stayed there for 15 weeks, number 2 in the USA, UK, Canada and number 25 in New Zealand which it went Gold in the UK and 3 times Platinum in the USA. the album was produced by Paul Samwell Smith who had been the bass player in the legendary British 60's rock group the Yardbirds and had already produced Cat's other albums Mona Bone Jakon and Tea for the Tillerman and after this album Catch Bull Four in 1972 and from this album it had 3 hit singles Morning Has Broken, Moon Shadow and Peace Train and it was also the name of a children's book that he had written and illustrated which it had the title characters from the album top hatted young Teaser and his pet Firecat. Muppets Most Wanted

Today I went to the South Bank Cinema to see the movie Muppets Most Wanted. The Muppets are at a loss about what to do next following the events of the last movie so Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais) suggest to Kermit the Frog that they should do a world tour with him as tour manager and they agree. As they start the tour but unknown to them Dominic is a sidekick to the number 1 criminal named Constantine who is a dead ringer for Kermit as well as escaping from Gulag38B and while in Berlin Kermit takes a stroll when he is arrested and taken to Gulag 38B which it was guarded by Nadja (Tina Fey). Constantine posing as Kermit who is able to fool his friends despite his Russian accent uses the Muppets as he and along Dominic have been carrying out a series of robberies in European cities where the Crown jewels are the target and it gets interesting. It is an excellent and a funny movie with excellent performances by Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais and Ty Burrell who plays the interpol agent Jean

Issi Dye Queensland shows 2014

In April and May/June this year legendary Australian singer Issi Dye will be doing shows in Queensland including Cooly Rocks On. Issi who has been on the music scene since the 60's will be performing classic rock n roll songs and always puts on a great show which everyone enjoys it and having an great time. If you have not seen Issi go and See Him which you shall enjoy it and it is a great show with great songs. Bob Dylan The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration

On October 16th 1992 at Madison Square Garden in NEw York City an impressive group of acts getting together to perform for the celebration of 30 years when American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan began recording and among the acts that performed there were Stevie Wonder, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds, George Harrison of the Beatles, Johnny Cash, June Carter, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Eddie Vedder, Lou Reed, The Clancy brothers etc. This show sold out which 18,000 attended and it was broadcast all over the world and the acts were performing some of the great Dylan classics as well as surprising ones too as well as Bob Dylan coming out on stage which he brought it all back home again. The show is now out on DVD with extra features that had 3 songs that were not on the DVD and the behind the scenes which had interviews with some of the artists. classic Albums- Whispering Jack John Farnham

For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1986 album by Australian singer John Farnham with Whispering Jack. John Farnham had success in the 60's and early 70's with hits like Sadie The Cleaning Lady, One, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Don't You Know It's MAgic but then by the mid 70's his recording career had dwindled so he turned to tv and musical theatre as well as going through financial trouble with unpaid taxes as well as performing in the cabaret scene but came back in 1980 with his version of the Beatles song Help which went to number 8 and then in 1982 joined the Little River Band replacing Glenn Shorrock which he was with them until 1985 as he sang lead on Playing To Win, The Other Guy, Down On the Border and others. I'm Talking Kate Ceberano

I'm Talking is the autobiography of legendary Australian singer Kate Ceberano. In this book she talks about her upbringing in Melbourne, playing in her first groups Expozay and the Hoagy Cats, then success with the group I'm Talking, going to a successful solo career with hits like Bedroom Eyes and Pash, working in London, Los Angeles and New York, doing tv and musical theatre, discovering that she had a half brother as well as the violate side of her martial arts expert father, doing Dancing With the Stars and others. It is an EXCELLENT and an BRILLIANT book with impressive stories which I enjoyed it very much. This book is co written with Tom Gilling who has written 3 novels and 6 books of non-fiction and Kate Ceberano is still going strong after all these years still touring and recording. This book is a must for any Australian music fans as well as fans of Kate Ceberano and I am giving this 4 and a half stars which it's in the shops now so do yourself a favour and BUY

Sunnyboys The Sunnyboys

Sunnyboys is the remastered self-titled debut album for legendary 80's Australian rock group the Sunnyboys. This album was released in September 1981 which it went to number 13 on the Australian charts and it was recorded @ Alberts Studios with legendary guitarist Lobby Loyde as producer as well as having 2 hit singles Happy Man and Alone With You. This album has been reissued as it has the original album tracks as well as bonus tracks and the second CD New Kicks which has complete and unreleased pre- album demo session as well as notes and photos in the booklet which was contributed by the band members and the fans. It is a AWESOME and ROCKIN CD with great stuff and great songs which holds up very well to this day and the 2 hits still get airplay to this day which it's great. Out Amongst The Stars is the new posthumous album by legendary American country singer Johnny Cash. the recordings from this album were from 1981 when they were recorded @ Columbia Studios in Nashville and 1111 Sound Studios in 1984 which they were produced by Billy Sherrill but it was never released and then in 2012 Johnny Cash's son John Carter Cash discovered it which he then added musicians including guitarist-mandolin player Marty Stuart who had played on those 1980's recordings, jerry Douglas on Dobro, Buddy Miles on guitar to add out the sound to fill in the holes that were not on those recordings at that time which that was recorded @ Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville and was mixed by Niko Bolas @ Blackbird Studios in Nashville and Capitol Studios in Hollywood which he was assisted by Nathan Yarborough at Blackbird. It is an EXCELLENT and a BRILLIANT album with BRILLIANT songs which sounded great and Johnny Cash sounded great on the songs. Among the songs on it are
