the Avengers @ Easts Leagues CLub

On Friday September 26th I went to see the East Leagues Club to see legendary Brisbane group the Avengers which it's my 20th time seeing them as well as my second time this year as I have not been able to go and see them most of this year because of my tendinitis in the foot but it is better as I have been able to get back to some of my routines again. I caught a bus from Cannon Hill to Carindale and then caught a bus from Carindale to Coorparoo which I walk to the Club. I had Beef Nachos for dinner as well as having an cake for desert, having an conversation with a man about security and bumped into Colin an guy I knew from Creek Road church. The show started @ 7.30pm and for the next 4 and an half hours they did 4 sets doing classic rock and pop songs from acts like Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, Cliff Richard, the Shadows, The Beach Boys, Four Seasons and many others and also in the audience that night was the original lead singer of the Avengers Dick B

Rock n Roll Spectacular 2014

Last Sunday September 21st I went to Kedron Wavell to see the Rock n Roll Spectacular charity show to raise money for the Endeavor Foundation. I caught a bus from Cannon Hill to the city which then I caught another bus from Adelaide Street to Chermside and walk to Kedron Wavell which I got there around 11.45am. Saw Paul Morgan from Poor Man's Sons and Anna Churchill (her brother Stan played piano in Poor Man's Sons)and went inside the Blue Pacific Room. The show started at 12pm with the back up band doing Rock Around the Clock then Barry Larter came on stage doing an great set of Johnny O'Keefe songs which there was a cardboard picture of Johnny O'Keefe near the stage and during the performance I had Beef Straganoff for lunch. the next act that came on stage were legendary singer Johnny Gray and his band the G Men which it was the first time they played together in a long time which they did an did great set doing classic rock n roll songs by acts like Cliff Richard, C

On November 11th 1970 Elvis Presley released the That's The Way it Is album which he had recorded it between June and August that year and it went to number 21 in the USA as well as number 8 on the country charts and also there was an documentary movie of the same name even though it is not considered an soundtrack album as that album had 4 live recordings in las Vegas while the others were studio recordings. This album has been reissued and it is now out on CD again as a 2 CD edition which the first CD has not only the original tracks from the album as well as the original singles as well as the outtakes of some of the songs and the 2nd CD has an live recording at the dinner show at the International Hotel in Las Vegas as it it is the first complete release of a Elvis Presley concert in 1970. Best Years 1974-2014 the 40th anniversary Collection is the new compilation of legendary Australian singer-songwriter Richard Clapton . In this new compilation it has 3 CD's which includes many of the classic hits including Girls On the Avenue, Capricorn Dancer, Deep Water, I Am An Island, Down In the Lucky Country, Trust Somebody etc as well as album tracks, non album singles, album tracks and some unreleased tracks and it also has a DVD in the compilation which has a show that was recorded on April 16th 1989 called the Best Years of Our Lives as it's the first time that is on DVD. It is BRILLIANT, AWESOME and SUPERB with great songs which are true classics and timeless as well as standing the test of time and also very enjoyable and very entertaining indeed and it went to number 36 on the album charts. it has a great booklet which has great pictures some of them rare and the liner notes were done by rock critics Toby Creswell and David "Dr Pepper" Pepperell and P

Extended Play Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs

Extended Play is the new compilation of Australian rock group Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs as it has the 60's recordings from 1964-66 and it is out on CD. EP's (extended play) were usually 4 tracks which including the current hit single and on this it has all the six EP's as well as the hit singles like Mashed Potato, Sick and Tired, Over the Rainbow, Twilight Time etc as well as non album tracks as well as the B sides. It is AWESOME,ROCKIN and SUPERB and it's very entertaining as well as very enjoyable as the songs sounds so great as well as them have stood the test of time too. It is great to see these 60's recordings of Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs on CD as some of them have been on CD and some have not been on it before. A Big thank you to Alberts Music for releasing this and let's hope for more in the future and also it has been 7 years since Billy Thorpe passed away but at least his music lives on. BP Supershow Louis Armstrong Live in Australia

In 1964 legendary American trumpeter and singer Louis Armstrong and His All Star Band performed on the BP Supershow which it was recorded at Television City (GTV 9 Studios in Melbourne) and it is out now on DVD. Louis and His All Star Band performed an great set of memorable tunes including High Society Calypso, Basin Street Blues, When It's Sleepy Time, Down South as well as being joined by Jewel Brown who did 2 songs and also it has sponsor spots which was presented by Bandstand host and newsreader Brian Henderson. It is an EXCELLENT, FANTASTIC and an BRILLIANT DVD as well as very entertaining and very enjoyable and also the picture quality looks excellent. It is great to see BP Supershow on DVD again as there is other ones with Ella Fitzgerald, June Bronhill and Jill Perryman are currently out on DVD as well and it is great to see that show and Bandstand on DVD so an VERY BIG THANK YOU to Channel 9 and Umbrella Entertainment for releasing these specials so let's hope for

Benson The Autobiography by George Benson

Benson the Autobiography is the autobiography of legendary American singer George Benson. In this book he talks about his upbringing in Pittsburgh, began singing as a child as well as playing guitar, sang in a group called the Altairs, working with Brother Jack McDuff on the Chitlin Circuit, working with with Miles Davis an jazz musician, performing with people like Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, BB King, Ben E King, Benny Goodman and many others. It's an excellent book and a enjoyable one with excellent and interesting stories which I really enjoyes reading it. This book is co written by Alan Goldsher who is a music and culture writer as well as as being an author of 11 books and entertainer Bill Cosby does the foreword. George Benson is still recording and touring after all these years and still going strong. This book is a must for any George Benson fans as well as jazz music fans and I am giving this 4 stars which it's in the shops now so do yourself a fav

On Saturday September 13th I went to Kedron Wavell to see legendary Australian singer Russell Morris which it was my 11th time seeing him live and had not seen him since Friday May 18th 2002 @ Mt Gravatt Bowls Club with Jim Keays. I caught the bus to Chermside from Cannon Hill which I walk to Kedron Wavell, had Nachos for dinner at the Cafe as well as having a Sundae, went upstairs, bought a Kevon Borich CD, went inside the Blue Pacific Room and talked which I met Helen and Peter. The show started @ 8pm with Kevin Borich coming on stage just him and guitars which he did a great set doing a few of his own songs as well as doing Little Red Rooster and finished off the set with his hit with the La De Das with Gonna See My Baby Tonight and also he came out for autographs he signed the CD I bought as well as getting photos as well as having a coke to drink. Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song

April O'Neil(Megan Fox) is a news reporter for Channel 6 news New York has been doing research about the Foot Clan an gang who has been terrorizing the city which she learns about about something brought in the docks and then the Foot Clan attacks New York Subway Station which April sees 4 figures who turns out to be The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who are Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michaelangelo which she had a connection with them and the Shredder(tohoru Masamune) along with Eric Sacks (William Fichtner)plan to spread an deadly virus throughout New York and it is up to the Turtles to stop Shredder and Foot Clan.
