monte Carlo by the Tornados

Monte Carlo by the British instrumental group The Tornados who had the USA number 1 hit in 1962 with Telstar was written by Phil Tate and it went to number 72 on the Australian charts in 1964. Considering by this stage that their hit making days in the UK had finished it's amazing that this song was an minor hit here in Australia.

You Guessed by Helen Shapiro

You Guessed by British singer Helen Shaprio was released in 1969 which was released as an single in Australia as well as the UK  and it went to number 98 in Australia where it stayed for 1 week. Considering her hit making days in the early 60's  it's amazing that she still had singles that were minor hits in Australia not in the UK

Love Equals Love by the Ohio Express was released 50 years ago this year and it went to number 56 in Australia, number 6 Adelaide and number 11 in Brisbane in 1970 which it was written by John Carter and Russ Alquist and John Carter produced it with Ken Lewis.

Hawaii by The Beach Boys

Hawaii by the Beach Boys was from the Surfer Girl album in 1963 and in 1964 it was released as an single in Australia which went to number 7 in Australia and number 1 in Brisbane for 1 week. In January they toured Australia and NZ which they did Brisbane January 15th 1964 with Roy Orbison, Paul and Paula, The Surfaris and The Joy Boys. It's an great song with great harmonies as well as the falsetto by Brian Wilson as well as the lead vocals by Mike Love and the little drum into is FANTASTIC.

The Harem by British musician Acker Bilk was released in 1963 which was not an hit in the UK but only an hit in Australia and it went to number 2 Melbourne number 3 in Adelaide and number 4 Sydney. It's an surprise considering that he had hits in the 60's in the UK.

I bought this record at the Rocking Horse in 2017 and Teeny Bopper by Issi Dye(Issy Dy and Friends) was written by Johnny Young and it went to number 39 in Adelaide and number 47 in Hobart in 1970 with the b-side Honey Bee also written by Johnny Young. I got this record signed by Issi when I saw him at Twin Towns on Tuesday January 14th this year, I have played it and it's a very good somg.

I'm Gonna Love You Too by Buddy Holly

I bought this record at the Rocking Horse in the city Wednesday April 8th and the song I'm Gonna Love You Too by Buddy Holly which it went to number 30 Australia and number 6 in Melbourne in 1964 which this record I bought was an re-issue of the song when it was released originally in 1958 and it originally went to number 52 Australia. The b side was Rock Around With Ollie Vee which was written by Sonny Curtis when he played with Buddy in The Three Tunes before becoming an member of the Crickets after Buddy's passing.

Unfinished Business by Derryn Hinch

This is the book written by Australian media legend Derryn Hinch and he talks about the last 2 years of his time as a Senator until he was defeated in the 2019 Federal Election and talks about the inner workings in Canberra as well as his successes and failures as well as talking about people like Bill Shorten, Malcolm Turnbull, Peter Dutton and others. It's an Fantastic, impressive and entertaining with excellent stories and an enjoyable read. Derryn is a regular commentator on the tv show sunrise and writes for the Big Smoke. I give it 4 stars and it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and buy it which you'll be impressed.
