By the end of the 60's the Doors were one of the popular American groups known for hits like Light My Fire, Hello I Love You, Love Me two Times, TOuch me etc and were at the forefront of a movement that consisted of an generation of discontents that were against the War in Vietnam and social unrest and change in the USA. The Doors were hip,dangerous and anti establishment who were on the radar of authority who seemed to be just waiting for transgressions upon which they could pounce. this came to a head on March 1st 1969 at an explosive gig at the Dinner Key Audiotrium pushing the police and the audience to their limits Jim Morrison was arrsted for various charges including indecent exposure and incitement. Following the incident in Miami the Doors were not able to tour and went into the studio to record the album that was to become LA Woman which was to be the last album Doors album with Jim Morrison. the group assembled at Sunset Sound Studios at the fall of 1970 to run through the songs with Bruce Botnick the engineer and Paul Rothschild the producer who produced the first 5 Doors albums and Paul quits as producer after disagreeing with the group about the direction of the music. The band and Bruce Botnick went on to produced the album and it was recorded at the Doors Worksop on Santa Monica Boulevard that lasted 4 days and Jim Morrison leaves for Paris as the group were starting the mix sessions to take an break as well as meeting up with his girlfriend Pam Courson to take a break which sadly on July 3rd 1971 Jim morrison passed away. the album went to number 9 in the USA and it had 2 hit singles Love Her Madly and Riders on the Storm. In this DVD it talks about the making of th album as well as the incident in Miami, the inspiration behind the songs, what was happening with the band at the time, Jim Morrison and others and it has interviews with surviving members of the Doors Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Kreiger, Engineer Bruce Botnick, Manager Bill Siddons, Jac Holzman owner of Elektra Records, Disc Jockey Jim Ladd and others. It's an BRILLIANT DVD with great stuff and great stories about the making of the album that is considered of the Doors finest achievements. this DVD has great footages of the Doors live and in the studio and pictures as well the bonus features which has an clip of the Doors doing Crawling King Snake in the studio on GTK, ray Manzarek talking about Riders on the Storm, John Densmore talking about LA Woman and it has an unreleased song called she smells so nice accompained with picture montage. it's an must for any fans of the Doors as well as any rock'n'roll fan and well worth watching. I give this 5 stars and it's in the shops now.

The Venus Experience/the Beetles Show @ Morningside Services Club

Last Saturday February 4th I went to the Morningside Services Club to see the Venus Experience and the Beetles show which it was my 2nd time seeing the Beetles as I saw them at Easts Leagues Club last year on September 24th. the support act was an man doing Frank Spencer and it was very funny. The venus Experience were the first one starting the night which it was the local group Hi Way 1 and did an FANTASTIC set doing stuff by Blondie,Tina Turner,Fleetwood Mac,Stevie Nicks,Carly Simon, Linda ROndstadt and others and actually during their performance I bought an lemonade for Vanessa as she saw me in the crowd which she asked me to get her an lemonade and would pay me back which she did during the interval. the man who was doing frank spencer was doing the second wearing an Maroons jersey with an surf life saver cap and 2 ladies volnteered which they did movements. then the Beetles came on stage and they did an FANTASTIC set doing those classic Beatles songs wearing the suits and ties and they were FANTASTIC which they had an break when an young woman fell on the ground and must have blacked out or something I don't know which was an concern but she was alright. the show continued which i left after 11pm as Dad picked me up and came home. It was an FANTASTIC night and an FANTASTIC time which i had an great time as well as everyone else and look forward to seeing the Beetles again soon as well as Hi way 1.

Last Year Harry Young an Australian singer who was in the group Harry Young and Sabbath in the early 70's known for hits The Wheat In the Field and San Bernandio got together with the Original Aztecs (Col Baigent,Tony Barber, Vince Melouney and John "Bluey" Watson) who played with Billy Thorpe from 1963-65 that did Blue Day,Poison Ivy,Mashed Potato,Sick and Tired and Over the Rainbow to record an album that is dedicated to the memory of Billy Thorpe who passed away on February 28th 2007 from an heart attack at the Pump Studio which lasted 7 months and it was releasedon the de Monde label on December 15th. On this album there is 4 songs written by Harry Young including At the ENd of the Rainbow, Sunshine Friends written by Billy Thorpe and Tony Barber, 9 re-recordings of the Billy THorpe and the Aztecs 60's recordings including Poison Ivy, Sick & tired and Over the Rainbow, an reprise of at the End Of the Rainbow, an bonus track the William Thorpe Overtrue and an new version of Someday which was the hit for Tony Barber in 1966. it's an excellent and BRILLIANT album which sounds FANTASTIC and an excellent performances by Harry Young and the Original Aztecs which Harry produces the album as well as the additional sequencing and arranging with Vince Melouney. The original Aztecs who had not played together since the Long Way to the Top tour in 2002 and 2003 but had recorded since the 60's and they play great on this album, I like the intro of the album done by Colin Baigent which it's great to listen to. It's an must for any fans of Australian rock'n'roll as well as fans of Billy Thorpe and well worth listening to. i give this 4 and an half stars and it's in the shops now

Days of Future Passed was the second album for the British group the Moody Blues but it was the first for members Justin Hayward and John Lodge who had joined the group in 1966 when original founding members Clint Warwick and Denny Laine who were on their only number 1 UK hit "go Now" in 1965 as well as the album the Magnificent Moodies left the group. Justin had played with British 50's & 60's rocker Marty Wilde in the Wilde three and was recommended to the Moodies by Eric Burdon of the Animals which he was contacted by Mike Pinder after reading his application as well as being impressed when Justin played an song called London Is Behind Me in the car going to Esher to meet the other members. John had played with both Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder in El Riot and the Rebels and it was the line up with Justin and John would become the classic line up of the Moody Blues that would do most of the successful work from then on which they went away from their R&B roots to uncharted rock territory with classical and orchestral stuff that would make the group one of the early pioneers of both classical and progressive rock. The origins of this album began when they were asked by their record company Decca to do an rock version of the New World Symphony by Dvorak in order to demonstrate the latest recording techniques for Deram Records but the Moodies decided to do an album that was based on an original stage show that they were working on that was about the everyman's day from dawn to night and from awakening to sleep. the album was recorded at Decca Studios in West Hampstead London on October 8th 1967 which lasted until November 3rd with producer Tony Clarke who had worked with the group on an single called Fly me High and had been working for Decca since the early 1960's first as session musician,promoter, worked in production company and songwriting. Derek Varnals was the engineer, peter Knight did the conducting and the London Festival Orchestra played on the album as well. The album was released on November 11th 1967 which went to number 27 in the UK and went to no 3 in the USA which did not out until 1972 when it was re-released and it had 2 singles that stills get plenty of airplay to this day Nights in White satin(no 19 in the UK 1967, no 9 UK 1972, no 14 in the UK 1979 & no 51 in 2010 and in the USA it was number 2 in 1972) and Tuesday Afternoon number 24 in the USA in 1968 both written by Justin Hayward. this year is 45 years when this album came out and it holds up brilliantly after all these years with great songs and sounds which the mellotorn is played by Mike Pinder as well as writing 2 songs Dawn Is A Feeling and the Sun Set, Ray Thomas wrote 2 songs, Graeme Edge wrote 2 songs, and John Lodge wrote 2 songs. It went to become one of the Moody Blues best albums ever made as well as paving the way for other bands to do progressive offerings and really established the group onto the world stage. Last Saturday Janaury 28th I went to KedroN Wavell Services Club to see the Fabulous sounds of the 60's show which it was my 13th time seeing the show but 14th seeing Darren J ray. greg Newman was the compere which the show STARTED @ 8PM and started with kaitlyn doing a World Of Our Own which in the first set doing Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pscyhdelia, Gene Pitney, Cliff Richard, Bee Gees and others which there was an quiz about the name of the songs to win an record which unfortunatly I did'nt win one this time. In the second set did surf music, girl group stuff, Elvis, Johnny O'Keefe, and others which there was an dance competition and the show finished around 10.30pm with Hey Jude which the Love Bugs coming on stage wearing beatles shirt. After the show Bought an poster that was signed and met Abbey who sings with the Love Bugs sometimes and Saw Darren and the everyone which they are well. I enjoy seeing Greg newman dressing up as Charlie Watts, an Japanese person and others and enjoy seeing Hippy Alan giving flowers to the crowd which it's good. at the show I saw Michael,Karlotta, brenda, bob,garry,Jenny and Amber and It was an FANTASTIC show which i had an FANTASTIC time which I look forward to seeing it again soon and to those who have not seen the show go and see it as it's an FANTASTIC show with great songs from an era that still endures after all these years.

On Friday i went to the Hawthorne cinema to see the movie the Muppets. Gary(Jason Segel) and his brother Walter voiced by Peter Linz who is an Muppet live in Smalltown and are fans of the Muppet show when they were growning up. Gary plans an vocation to Los Angeles with his girlfriend Mary(Amy Adams) to celebrate 10 years of being together and Walter goes along with them which he wants to go and see the Muppet Theatre but it's derelict. While he snakes into Kermit's old office Walter hears that an oilman names Tex Richman(Chris Cooper) wants to destroy the Muppet Theatre to make it into oil underneath and appeals to Kermit to reunite the Muppets to do an show to raise money to save the Theatre which it's gets interesting throughout the movie. It's funny,excellent and an Brilliant movie with excellent performances by Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones as Veronica, Chris cooper, Jack black who plays himself as well as cameo appearances by Neil Patrick Harris, Alan Arkin, Mickey Rooney, Selena Gomez, Emily Blunt, Willie Nelson, Whoopi Goldberg,etc and and the music is just excellent as well. it's directed by James Bobin and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. it's must for anyone who are fans of the Muppets and I give this 4 and an half stars which it's still running in the cinemas.

In May,June and July this year legendary Australian rock group the Delltones known for hits like Hangin Five, get A Little Dirt On your Hands and COme A Little Bit Closer are doing an tour of Queensland and they are still going after 54 years when they were formed in 1958 with original member Ian Pee Wee Wilson. the current line up of the group besides from pee Wee are Woody Finlayson(guitarist & Vocalist), Owen Booth(bass and vocals) and on drums and vocals Merv Dick which it's now an quartet as former lead singer Danny Mayers left in July 2011 to do his solo career and I have seen this line up which it's FANTASTIC and sounding good as ever. They will do some of their hits and other doo wop songs that have influenced them as well as other songs and also always put on an FANTASTIC show as they get the crowd going asking for me. To those who have not seen them go and see them live which i am sure you will enjoy the experience of seeing one of the true legends of Australian rock.

The Howzat album by legendary Australian group Sherbet was released in 1976. this album was the first for member Harvey James(from Ariel) who had joined the group in early 1976 when founding member, guitarist and songwriter Clive Shakespeare left the group which Gunther Gorman joined but left within weeks and Harvey's first recording with the group was the title track Howzat which was written by Garth Porter and Tony Mitchell which inspired by the sport of cricket and it went to number 1 in Australia,no 4 in the UK, number 61 in the USA and was top 10 in Europe,South Africa,parts of the Middle East and some of the Asian nations. The Howzat album was recorded at EMI studios from March-May 1976 with Richard Lush who had worked with the Beatles was the producer along with the group as well as being engineer and also Sherbet did the arranging as well as Ralph White who played Brass and Bill Motzing did the string arrangements. the album was released which went to number 1 in Australia for 2 weeks and the all the songs on it were written by songwriter and keyboard player Garth Porter which he co-wrote some with Daryl Braithwaite,Tony Mitchell,Harvey James, and Alan Sandow which there is great songs on this album besides from the title track like Hollywood Dreaming with Garth on lead vocals, Dancer, Lady of the Night,Motor Of Love,Blueswalkin, if I had My way, Gimme Love and others. this is an excellent album which sounds as great today as it was 36 years ago with great singing by Daryl,great songwriting by Garth and excellent playing by tony,Harvey and Alan and at this time Sherbet were on the top bands along with Skyhooks in Australia playing to sell out crowds as well as appearing on COuntdown . As it's been an year since the passing of Harvey James I thought it would be appropriate to start the classic album segment with this album which his work with Sherbet will live on and this album is an classic indeed

The Searchers legendary British 60's rock group known for hits like Sweets For My Sweet,Sugar and Spice, Don't Throw Your Love Away, Needles and Pins, When You Walk In the Room, Goodbye My love and many others are touring Australia starting tomorrow (January 27th) which will last until March 4th and will be playing in NSW,Queensland, Victoria,ACT and Western Australia. The Searchers have toured Australia many times since 1964 when they toured with Peter and Gordon,Del Shannon,Eden Kane,Dinah Lee and Ray Columbus and the Invaders as well as coming in 1966 with the Rolling Stones, Marty Rhone,Tony Barber(the Aztecs) and Max Merritt and the Meteroes and the current line up of the group are original founding member John McNally(guitarist and vocals), Frank Allen (Bass guitar and vocals) since August 3rd 1964, Spencer James (lead vocals and Guitar) since 1985 and Scott Ottaway(drums) since February 2010. the group will do many of their hits as well as some album tracks and other people's songs and they always have an great sense of humor as well as getting everyone to sing along to those songs which they always put on an FANTASTIC show. Last Friday January 20th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see Captain Wow an group who are from the Gold Coast and play around brisbane,gold coast and sunshine coast and do songs from the 60's,70's,80's up to now as well as reggae and country. It was my 4th seeing this group which I first saw them at the st Andrews Ball @ the Gabba on Saturday May 17th 2008, New Years Eve 2008 @ CArina League Club and March 26th 2010 which they were all FANTASTIC and they put on an FANTASTIC show. At Carina Leagues Club on Friday night they did 3 sets as they started @ 8pm which they started off with some acoustic stuff then rock'n'roll and did stuff by the Eagles, Boz Scaggs, Shania Twain, The Mamas and the Papas, the Bangles, Linda Ronstadt, Nancy Sinatra and others and people were having an great time dancing on the floor which I was one of them. the show lasted until 11.30pm which i said hello to Nick,Katie and Bettina and actually Katie did an stint with Darren J Ray for an time and the band were just GREAT singing great and playing great. I had an great time at the show and i look forward to seeing this band soon which to those who have not seen them go and see them at a club near you as they are just an GREAT band doing great music of the eras that still endures after all these years.

Last Saturday I went to the TWin Towns Services Club to see legendary Australian singer Marcia Hines which it was my 2nd time seeing her as my first was at the Long Way To The Top concert @ the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Tuesday September 10th 2002 which she sang You,Fire and Rain and Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees and she was FANTASTIC. At the Show on Saturday the support act was a local country singer-songwriter named Peta Evans Taylor who sings around Queensland and NSW and was on for about half an hour as she did songs she wrote as well as doing Nights In White Satin and she did an excellent set which there was an short interval. Marcia Hines come on stage for an an hour and half she did an FANTASTIC set doing her famous hits from the 70's & 80's as well as songs from her Carole King tribute album and other songs and even did an Q&A session which people would ask her questions about her career which i asked her memories of the Long Way to the Top tour which she said it was an musical education and got to be friends with people like Col Joye and Lucky Starr. the show lasted until about 10.15pm and when she did the last song she walked through the audience shaking hands with the fans. she had CD's and an book on sale after the show and i got an autograph and an photo which was great. It was an FANTASTIC show and had an great time which I look forward to seeing Marcia again live in the future.

Matt King(George Clooney)an lawyer based in honolulu has been forced to look at his life after his wife is in an coma after an boating accident and the events has led him to an rapprochement with his 2 daughters Scottie(Amar Miller) and Alexandra(shailene Woodley) meanwhile Matt wrestles with an decision about seeling the family land handed down from Hawaii royalty and it's gets really intreresting throuighout the movie. It's an sad,touching,funny and an BRILLIANT movie with an excellent performance by george Clooney which I think it's one of his best performances of his career as well an excellent performances by Shailene Woodley, Amara Miller, Beau Bridges who plays his cousin Hugh, Nick Krause plays Sid who is friends with Alex, Judy Greer who plays Julie speer, Matthew Lillard who plays Brian Speer and others. It's directed by Alexander Payne who also produces it with jim Burke and Jim Taylor as well writing the screenplay with Nat faxon and Jim Taylor. I give this 4 and an half stars and it's currently running in the cinemas now.

Last Tuesday I went to south bank cinema to see the movie Tower Heist. Josh Kovacs(Ben Stiller) is the building manager of the Tower in new York and is friendly with the tenants including the boss Arthur Shaw(Alan ALda). Shaw is arrested by the FBI for fraud which Josh thinks it's an misunderstanding and later finds out that the employees pension he asked shaw to handle is gone and along with 2 of the staff members and an evicted tenant they hire an petty crook named Slide( Eddie Murphy) to try to get the money back and it's gets interesting throughout the film. It's very funny and very entertaining with excellent performance by Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan ALda who is excellent as the villian, Matthew broderick, Casey Affleck,Tea Leoni as the FBi lady, Judd Hirsch,Michael Pena, stephen henderson and others. it's directed by Brett Ratner and produced bY Eddie Murphy, Bill Carraro, Brian Grazer, Kim Roth and Karen Kehela Sherwood. i give this 4 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas now.

Last Sunday January 8th I went to the Easts Leagues Club in Coorparoo to see the Avengers an Brisbane rock group who were formed in 1965 playing around Brisbane, began recording for Columbia with singles like One More Chance and Listen Listen and also performed at the Hoadleys Battle of the sounds (an different line up of the group) as well as being managed by Glenn Shorrock(the Twilights/Axiom/Little River Band. the original line up of the group with Garth Austin, Roger Bellicoe, Mick Monaghan, Graeme Rabnott and Ross Bentley lasted until 1968 and then another line up which featured Roger Hicks went to become an member of popular Australian group Zoot in 1968 and the group eventually disbanded by 1970 which they were then called the New Avengers that featured David Briggs who went to great success with little River Band. The original line up of the Avengers reformed in 1993 and are still playing in the clubs around Brisbane and parts of Queensland. it was my 3rd time seeing the Avengers live which my first was at Kedron Wavell for theROck'n'roll Spectacular show on Sunday October 12th 2008 and the 2ND WAS at the old ROckers Get together at the Riverside Ballroom on Sunday March 27th 2011 and they were FANTASTIC doing great sets of rock''nroll songs. At the East Leagues Club show the group started at 2pm which they did 4 sets doing rock'n'roll songs from the 50's,60's and 70's including Buddy Holly, the Beatles, ELvis, the Beach Boys, Creedence, the Doobie Brothers, Johnny O'Keeffe, Chuck Berry and others which the show lasted for 4 hours until 6pm and said hi to 2 of the guys including the original member Roger which i asked about recordings and he was amazed that I know about the group. It was an FANTASTIC show and the Avengers did an great set as well as everyone having an great time which i know i did and Look forward to see the group again live.

Last Saturday I went to carindale Cinema with my friend Billy White to see the Movie the Adventures of Tin Tin. Tin tin vocied by Jamie Bell is an journalist and the boy dectective along with his dog Snowy are on an tresure hunt looking for an sunken ship which was commanded by haddock's ancestor and Tin tin is kidnapped by people who work for sakharine(daniel Craig) which he is imprisoned on the boat SS karaboudjan. he meets Haddock the ship's captain (Andy Serkis)who is drunk and does'nt know what is happening to the ship and eventually him, Tin Tin and Snowy escape in an lifeboat and it gets interesting throughout the movie. it's brilliant and very funny with excellent performances by Daniel Craig who also voices Red Rackham (Sakharine's decendant), Jamie Bell as Tin Tin, Andy serkis who also voices Sir Francis Haddock (Captain Haddock's grandfather), Nick Frost,Simon Pegg, Tony Curran, Toby jones, Gad Elmaleh and others. it's directed by Steven Spielberg who also produced it with Kathleen Kennedy and peter Jackson and it's based on the comics by Herge. it's looks great and the effects just excellent and it's must for all ages. i am gviing this 4 and an half stars and it's currently running in the cinemas

Last Thursday I went to the South Bank Cinema with my friend Anita to see the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 Chipwrecked. The chipmunks and the chippettes along with Dave Seville (Jason lee) are on an cruise trip on the Carnival Dream which they turned it into their own personal playground, causing trouble and running amack and it's their behaviour that causes them to get shipwrecked on an desert Island which causes them to get in the process as well as Dave and Ian (david Cross). the chipmunks and chippettes meet an castaway named Zoe(Jenny Slate) and it's gets very interesting. it's very funny and very good with very good performances by jason Lee and David Cross as well as Jenny SLate as Zoe and Andy Buckley as the Captain of the ship as the voices of the chipmunks by Jesse McCartney, Justin Long and Matthew Gray Gluber & the Chippettes by Christina Applegate, Anna Farris and amy Poehler as well as the voice of simone by Alan Tudyk. it's directed by Mike Mitchell and produced by Ross Bagdasarian Jr(son of original creator of Alvina nd the chipmunks Ross Bagdasarian Sr) and Janice Karman who are husband and wife. Last Monday January 9th I went to the South Bank Cinema to see the movie War Horse. Albert Narracott(Jeremy irvine) who lives with his parents Rose(Emily Watson) and Ted(Peter Mullan) is admiring an young thoroughbred foal which Ted buys it at an auction much to Rose's dismay. Albert devotes most of his time to train joey which Albert names him and when world war 1 breaks out they are forcefully parted which Joey goes into the army and would experience the interesting journey throughout the war inspiring and changing the lives of the people he would meet on the way. It's an sad, touching and an BRILLIANT movie with brilliant performances by Emily Watson, Jeremy Irvine, Peter Mullan, Tom Hiddleston who plays CAptain Lyons, Niels Arestrup who plays the grandfather of an young french girl named Emilie (Celine Buckens) who live on the farm in France,Matt Milne who plays Andrew and others. It's directed by Steven Spielberg who also produces the film with Kathleen Kennedy and He does an BRilliant job in this film. John Williams does the music, Richard Curtis and Lee Hall did the screenplay and it's based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo as well as an play as well. I must admit i felt bit of an tear in my eye watching this movie as well as being moved by this story and that's what an great movie should be all about an great story that can touch people and this film has that. I give this 5 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas at the moment

On New Years Eve last Saturday I went to Carina Leagues Club to see an tribute show to motown called Signed Sealed Delivered which i knew about it a few months ago I asked Samantha in an email about who will be playiing which she sent me an reply about the Motown tribute. it's been 6 years since I 've been going to Carina Leagues Club on new Years Eve which my first one I attended there was in 2005 when I saw the Rockin Bodgies and I love going there everywhere which i always look forward to an great show every year which they are so exciting particuarly the countdown. The showed started at 8.30pm which they did 2 FANTASTIC set doing the Motown stuff as well as other soul songs like James Brown, Otis Redding, the Foundations, Dusty Springfield and others and during the first set the fireworks went off at 9pm which they were FANTASTIC and colourful as always which it's the only one they did that night as they have done it in the last 2 years as they don't do midnight anymore. the second band Lo Fi Way came on 11.45pm which had most of the same musicians from the sign sealed and they did an rock and roll set which they did the countdown to midnight as well as doing an FANTASTIC set too. I left at about 12.20am to get the courtsey bus which it was an FANTASTIC night and the people I saw were my cousin Allan, his partner Vince, Samantha from the club, peter, terry and Miranda and also both the shows were FANTASTIC which i look forward to seeing the group in the future.

A Look at 2011

Hard to believe it's the end of 2011 and i would like to say it's been interesting one for me but it's been an great one. let's starting with the Floods which it was an terrible time for those people who lost their homes and loved ones but at least they have got through it somehow. Thank Goodness for me and my family we were not affected by the floods as we are on an hill as well as my sister and her family were not affected even though parts of Allora were flooded and I had just gotten back to work when the floods happened which i returned on monday Janaury 10th and the Tuesday when it starting to happen which some of the staff urged me not to risk coming in to work considering how bad it was going to be. I left work at 12.25pm, walk to roma street station which i had to wait for an hour and 25 minutes for an train which the 12.50pm was cancelled, 2nd came at about 1.45pm but it was full and i eventualy caught the 3rd train at 1.50pm which i caught the train home as dad picked me at the train station. I eventually knew that i was not going to come in so i had the rest of that week off and looking at the clips on the news it was just terrible situation and my thoughts and prayers were with those people. In my family we had an new addition to when my niece Te Paea was born in June which she is an lovely baby and for an month my sister Madonna stayed with us due to work.Heath turned 30 in April and Dad was in hospital due to his ears which went well. we had some sad times in my family this year with the passing of Aunty Margaret on July 10th which was an shock to us and with this sad loss leaves Mum as Nana's only surviving child and also after the funeral when we had the wake that I said an speech which everyone there loved it. in August my great Aunty Agnes passed away at the age of 97 which it was an sad loss as she was the last surviving sibling of Nana as well as being the last surviving child of My great grandparents John and Caroline Handsley and I did'nt know about her passing until September and also i was lucky to have met her twice as well as getting letters and christmas cards from her. Just recently my Uncle Stan from New Zealand passed away as well which it was sad for our family as well and those 3 relations are alive in spirit in family and friends. Continue going to Norman Park Church(Engage City Church) until July when it closed and there were issues going on which led to will and Nerida Henderson to part company which was an shock as i had not idea what had happend. I was shocked when the annoucement was told as I know the feeling having seen an church close before and am now going to Ann Street Presbyterian Church which it's been great. In my social life continue going to lifestream until june when i decided to leave after 7 years as it was an wonderful time but decided to leave and still doing the friendship group which we always had an lot of fun this year going to see the Grease musical in May,pool party @ Leisa's in October, dinner @ greg and Julie's in April, Anita's housewarming on february, going to Mundo Charussco iN September and many others. Still doing ten pin bowling which my highest score this year was 227 and my team the rock'n'rollers got 10th place. Went to BoB Stewart's 70th birthday party @ coorparoo RSL which it was FANTASTIC. still going to shops and movies and the concerts which among them I saw were The Delltones, little Pattie, Daryl braithwaite, Sara Storer. Gerry and the Pacemakers, brian Cadd and Russell Morris, Belinda Carlisle, Mental As anything, Class of 59 including Lonnie lee, the Moody Blues, Buddy the Concert show and many othes. Went to the new Rock festival Cooly Rocks On in June which i had an FANTASTIC time seeing an lot of great shows including Big Bopper jr, the Chevrolets, Little Pattie, The Mighty Guys, Tony Worsley, Roland Storm,dooley rocks Cooley which had the wickety wak guys and others as well as going to the Breakfast With the Stars which it was Great. Went to Greazefest which it was an FANTASTIC time and the shows were GREAT where I met Dorian,Karla and Jessica as well as seeing my friend Lucille Jolly. Went to the rockabilly shows this year which are now mainly at Morningide Services Club which they were FANTASTIC and this year met James, Rhea,Vicki,Jade,Rebecca, Lisa, Mimi, Bobbie,as well meeting AManda and Dan at Cooly Rocks On too and also went to see Big Kitty @ Story Bridge Hotel, the Kustomer Kroozers show in ROcklea and the rockabilly show in the city to raise money for the floods. Went to the Old Rockers get Together show at riverisde Ballroom in NEw farm on march 27th which it was FANTASTIC which the bands were just GREAT and got to meet members of groups like the Dominoes, The Beauman and 2 of the members of the Planets Steve Neale and Brian Gagen and the rock'nroll spectaular show @ Kedron Wavell on November 6th which it was FANTASTIC and had people like Digger revell, Roland Storm, Dennis Knight,Johnny Devlin,the Sonics and others. I also went to see the musical Looking through an Glass Onion which it's about John Lennon and has John Waters doing Lennon @ QPAC which it was FANTASTIC. Did the shave for an cure which i raised $2,214 and look forward to doing it in 2012. Still doing the mail after 12 years and still enjoying it which it's been an interesting year in my job which i have met new staff members like Ashleigh, Elana,Emma, Jenny, Laura,Liz, Kate, Lauren,Henry, India,Kim,Hannah,Phoebe, Alexandra, henry, Monica Anderson, Gemma, Gabby, Amanda, Samantha, Sophie, Aslin,Meg, Scott and many others and had leaving like Jasmine Jones, Monica Walker, Cassy fromA llied Healh,Ara, Susan Baldwin, Renee, Stacey from Nuclear Medicine, Sam Middlebrook, Ceri and many others and also we had sad losses as we lost ex volunteer Tom, ex Bookings member Christine Rimmer as she died in an Fire which was an shock and the biggest loss was Andrew Carter from Theatre as he passed away from cancer which it too was an shock as I did'nt know he had been sick until an few weeks before when i found out as i did'nt know where he was at the time and it just happend quickly which was terrible but at least the memories of these people are live in many of us stuff members. but we had great things happenings like the opening of the help desk in August, the courtyard opened and of course my favourite the christmas party as it was an GREAT night and also my hours have changed which i now started @ 11am til 4pm. Well I must finish up now but I do hope we will have an good 2012 and may it be filled with happy,joyful and positive times.

On Wednesday i went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the Movie the Iron Lady which it's about British Prime Minster Margaret Thatcher, meryl Streep plays Margaret Thatcher who look back @ her life starting as an eager young woman played by Alexandra Roach an daughter of an grocer who was an Alderman starting her career in politics in the 50's met her future husband Denis (harry Lloyd), becoming Prime Minster in 1979 until 1990 which had events happening like the Falklands War, IRA Bombings and other events. It's an BRILLIANT film with an totally BRILLIANT performance by Meryl Streep who should be considered for an Oscar and this role is one of the best performances of her career which she really nails it BRILLIANTLY. Other brilliant performances by Jim broadbent, harry Lloyd, Alexandra Roach, Anthony head, Nicholas Farrell, Olivia Colman, Richard E Grant and others. It's directed Phyllida Lloyd, produced by Damian Jones and Abi Morgan does the screenplay. I give this 5 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas which just started on Boxing Day

On Tuesday I went to the balmoral Cinema with mum and heath to see the sequel to Happy Feet called Happy Feet 2. Erik(ava Arces)and Gloria(Pink) son of Mumble(Elijah Wood)is struggling to realize that he has talents in the world of Emperor Penguin. meanwhile Bill(Brad Pitt) and Will(Matt Damon) are determined to rise up the food chain and there is large icebergs that have struck the penguins home which traps the entire Emperor Penguin population below the large walls of ice which it gets interesting throughout the movie. it's excellent and very funny movie with excellent performances by Robin Williams who play both Ramon/Lovelace, Elijah Cook, Pink, Brad Pitt,Matt Damon, Hank Azaria, Lil P Nut, Hugo Weaving, Anthony LaPaglia, Magda Szubanski, Richard Hughes and many others doing the voices. It's directed by George Miller who also produces the film with Bill Miller and Doug Mitchell as well as doing the screenplay with gary Eck,Warren Coleman and Paul Livingston and Pink and John Powell does the music. I give this 4 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas now.

Sawyer (Nathan Gamble) an boy who is feeling sad when his cousin Kyle(Austin Stowell) leaves to go into the army and is biking along the beach when an fisherman (Richard Libertini)calls him for help as he discovers an dolphin who is injured tangled in an crab web. they call for help and the rescuers from Clearwater MArine Hospital ran by Dr Clay Haskett(Harry Connick Jr) take the dolphin for treatment which Clay's daughter Hazel(Cozi Zuehlsdorff) names it Winter. Sawyer helps @ the Marine Hospital looking after Winter despite his mother Lorraine's(Ashley Judd) not liking it but eventually accepts as he is supposed to be @ Summer School. meanwhile Winter's tail has been damaged and may have to be amputated which she learns to swim without an tail by using an side to side motion like an fish. Sawyer meets Dr Cameron Mc Carthy(Morgan Freeman) who specializes with prosthectis which he asks to assist. it's an excellent movie with excellent performances by Nathan Gamble, Ashley judd, Harry Connick jr, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Austin Stowell, Kris Kristofferson who plays Clay's father, Richard Libertini, Austin Highsmith plays Phoebe, Ashley White as Sandra Sinclair and Winter who plays herself. It was filmed in Pinellas County in Florida, directed by Charles MArtin Smith and produced by Richard Ingber, Broderick Johnson and Andrew A Koscove.it's sad,touching and funny. I give this 4 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas now

Last Saturday December 17th I went to the Rockabilly Christmas Party @ Morningside Services Club which it was my 4th time having been going there since Saturday December 13th 2008 but it was the first to have at Morningside Services after Being at Holland park Bowls Club for 2 years. The bands playing on the night were the SHakin Quavers, All Star Rockers and the Ten Fours and the shakin Quavers were the first on stage which they did an FANTASTIC set doing original songs as including doing some from an EP which they did years ago now on CD with Rupert playing excellent guitar as always and during the Interval I bought the CD which I played it on Tuesday night and it sounds so good as well as giving an card to Lori. The second act All Star Rockers came on which had Paulie,Lori,theresa, leapin lawrie and Mitch singing songs which I particualry seeing Lori sing which she was really good. the 3rd and final act were the Ten Fours which they were FANTASTIC too playing great. During the night I saw Lori, James,Ramona,Laura,Rebecca, Karen, Paulie which I saw their daughter Violet which she is an lovely baby,Emma, Rupert and peter and met Kylie, Mimi,Rob and Jade. It was an FANTASTIC show and had an FANTASTIC time which i enjoyed it and I know evetyone else had an great time too. Thanks Lori Lee for putting this show together and an Great job this year putting these together so WELL DONE.

Clarke Hicks and Nash Years The Hollies

The 6 box CD set called the Clarke Hicks and Nash by legendary British group the Hollies was on CD back in May this year which i had only bought this an few weeks ago so i am going to review this anyway. This 6 CD set has recordings of the Hollies with Graham NAsh who was in the group from the formation in December 1962 in Manchester,England until December 8th 1968 when he left the Hollies to go and form Crosby Stills Nash and Young who went on to greater success and it has the 8 albums he played, the A and B sides of the singles, his final recordings with the group which many were not released at that time, there is french versions of some of the songs, 7 EP's and there is an live performance @ Lewisham Odeon on 24th May 1968 which they perform 7 songs. It's an BRILLIANT AND AWESOME CD with great stuff and great songs which still endures after 48 years when the Hollies had their first hit. the songs are just so good to listen to as well hearing the french versions of some of the songs and the live recordings are jusy excellent to listen to and this has been an great year for the Hollies with the release of the DVD documnetary Look Through Any Window as well as this CD and also next year will be celebrating 50 years since the formation.Mick Houghton did the liner notes and he interviews Graham NAsh. it's an must for fans of the Hollies as well as 60's music fans which I you enjoy listen to this CD and hope you will be impressed. I give 5 stars and it's in the shops now.

Quadrophenia The Who

The legendary 1973 album Quadrophenia by British rock group the Who is on CD again which there an 5 CD set of it as well but I am reviewing the Deluxe Double CD version. This album was released on October 19th 1973 which was recorded @ Olympic Studios and Ronnie Lane's Mobile Studio and this was their second rock opera which the first being Tommy in 1969 which this time on the album it's about the period of 1964 and 1965 with the story involved social, musical and pscyhological happenings in brighton and London of an character named Jimmy and also on this remastered double album it has the original tracks as well as the demos of them which it sounds much different to what was on the album. It's an BRILLIANT album and great songs to listen to particuarly the demos which sounds very interesting and different but EXCELLENT. pete Townshend does the liner notes for the album as well as producing it with Bill Curbishley who manages the Who and Robert Rosenbberg. It's great to see this album out on CD and the songs sound as good today as it was in 1973 which it's an must for any fans of the who out there. I give this 5 stars and it's in the shops now

Between the spring of 1966 and the summer of 1967 the Beach Boys were recording songs and drafts for an album called SMILE originally called Dumb Angel that was going to be the follow up to the 1966 classic album "Pet Sounds" and Brian Wilson called this next project an Teenage Symphony TO God. Brian got together with Van Dyke Parks an former child actor as well as an record producer,musician and songwriter who had played on the Byrds no 44 US hit 5D (Fifth Dimension) in 1966 to write songs for SMILE.the Beach Boys were having great success at that time with the million selling hit single "Good Vibrations" number 1 in the USA,UK and no 2 in Australia as well as becoming the number 1 vocal group edging out the Beatles in the end of year poll in the New Musical Express an British rock magazine at the time. The album was intended be out by early 1967 but it was delayed and by this time that Brian Wilson began to have serious problems with Smile with issues that was happening at that time like his mental state, problems with drugs and others which by mid 1967 he decided to abandoned the project so it never came until NOW. I am reviewing the double CD box set as there is an 5 CD box set as well and in this box set it has the songs that were going to be on the album as well as parts 1 and 2 of Heroes and Villains, an solo version of Surf's Up, the Fire Sessions, the session highlights of Good Vibrations and others. It's an BRILLIANT and an EXCELLENT CD with great stuff and it's great to see the SMILE stuff finally coming out after 44 years. this album is one of the great unreleased albums in music history and although some of the SMILE stuff appeared on the 30th anniversary box set Good Vibrations as some of the tracks appeared on Smiley Smile, 20/20 and Surf's UP and in 2004 Brian Wilson did an solo album of SMILE which was top 30 but the original recordings had not been out until this year. It's great way to celebrate the group's 50th anniversary of formation and it's must for any Beach Boys fans as well as 60's music fans and I am giving this 5 stars which it's in the shops now.

This is the latest solo album from Beach Boys member and singer-songwriter Brian Wilson. This is the follow up to the Reimagines Gershwin album which he did last year(2010) and in this album he records some of his favourite Disney musical classics which includes vintage classics like When you Wish Upon A Star which inspired Brian to write Surfer Girl, Stay Awake,Hiegh Ho & whistle While You Work, Baby Mine up to recent Disney songs like Can You Feel The Love tonight, I just Can't Wait To be King, We Belong Together from Toy Story 3, Colours Of The Wind and others. it's an excellent album with excellent songs which Brian Wilson does an excellent performance doing these songs which he also produces this album. it's an must for any Beach Boys fans which i hope you will enjoy listening to this album and I give this 4 stars which it's now in the shops.

Looking Through A Glass Onion @ QPAC

last Friday November 25th I went to the QPAC concert hall with my mum Cath to see the musical Looking Through A Glass Onion.I had heard about this musical about John Lennon for years but I had never seen it and I have known John Waters' work for many years including his stint on Play School and other TV shows like All Saints, the mini series All the Rivers Run, Rush and many others. I had gotten the tickets for my birthday back iN September from my sister Madonna and was so looking forward to it which me and Mum caught the bus to South Brisbane. I bought the program and then went inside which we waited. the show started around 8pm with John Waters and Stewart D'Arrieta coming on stage with an excellent back up musicians including Tony Mitchell from Sherbet and in the first set John Waters doing John Lennon and doing the Lennon solo stuff as well as the Beatles and would do the same in the second set as well as he would evoke his honesty, bitter sweet sense of humor, self cristisim and his disdain for pretentiousness and pomposity which it's part concert and part biography. the musicians were excellent and both John and Stewart were just FANTASTIC doing these performances. the show lasted for 2 hours which finished after 10pm and they came out to sign stuff after the show which they signed my program and got photos with them which was an honour and an thrill. It was an FANTASTIC show and I had an great time as well as Mum. it's must for any beatles fans as well as John lennon's solo stuff and if you want to see it check it out which i'm sure you will be impressed.

Last Sunday November 20th I went to see the Legendary British rock band the Moody Blues. I had always been an fan of them since the early 90's when I first heard Go Now and Nights In White Satin which then in late 90's starting to know the others like Your Wildest Dream, I Know You're Out There Somewhere, I'm Just A singer In A Rock'n'roll Band, The Story in Your Eyes, Ride My See Saw and others. I wanted to see the group which i would love to have gone in 2005 but could'nt go and when I heard about them coming this year I knew I had to go which I bought my ticket @ Ticketek in the city on Friday September 9th. I was so Looking forward to seeing them as they have been one of my favourite groups and come November 20th I went to see them. I arrived at the Convention Center which Julie Mitchell (Claire's mother) dropped me off after being to Greg and Julie Dodge's place for the Friendship group Christmas Party and I bought the program. The show started @ 8pm with Jordie Lane performing just 3 songs and the Moody Blues came on which they did an FANTASTIC set doing their stuff including the Voice, Steppin In A Slide Zone, Tuesday Afternoon, I Know You're Out There Somewhere etc and there was an interval where I saw my friend Michael from the shows @ Kedron Wavell as well having Ice Tea. The Moody Blues came out for the 2nd set which they did another FANTASTIC set doing the songs like Your Wildest Dreams, Nights In White Satin, I'm Just A Singer in A Rock'n'roll band, Question, RIde My See Saw and others as well as albums tracks too. the show finished around 10.20pm and caught an cab home. It was an BRILLIANT and an TOTALLY AWESOME show which the band were just FANTASTIC and Justin Hayward,John LOdge and Graeme Edge have still got it playing brilliant and just GREAT which it's to prove that you are never too old to rock for Justin and John who are 66 and 68 and Graeme who turned 70 on march 30th that proves it. the back up musicians Alan Hewitt, Gordon Marshall, Norda Mullen and Julie Ragins were just BRILLIANT and I love the clips and the effects on the stage which was just BRILLIANT also. I am very lucky to have seen the Moody Blues and enjoyed the show very much which it's an experience that I will never forget which I am glad to have seen this legendary rock group who are still going strong after forming in 1964 which both John and Justin have been in the Moodies since 1966 and Graeme the only original member .

Last Saturday November 19th I went to see pat Capocci and Rusty Pinto @ Morningside Services Club which I have seen Pat an few times and I think it's my first seeing Rusty. The show started around 8.10pm or after with Pat Capocci did his set which he did mainly his own songs but did an Bo Diddley cover and did an excellent set which he was on for about 45 minutes. then there was an interval which I bought an Pepsi max as well as meeting ramona's boyfriend james as well as Bobbie who was at the Johnny Cash Tribute last month and also saw Sheri,Walter and Laura. Rusty Pinto came on which he did 2 FANTASTIC sets which he would do an mixture of original songs and covers like ELvis Presley and Johnny Guitar Watson and the back up band including pat Capocci was just FANTASTIC which Pat did played brilliant guitar. the show finished at 11.30pm and it was an ROCKIN & FANTASTIC show which everyone had an great time including me. I saw also that night Drea, Ramona, Karie, Rupert,Emma, theresa and met Rebecca and Bella and even though Lori lee was'nt there everyone did an GREAT job.

Last Friday November 18th I went to kedron Wavell Services Club where I saw legendary Australian singer songwriters Russell Morris and Brian Cadd which it was my 9th time seeing Russell and my 4th seeing brian which prior to last Friday I had not seen Russell since the Cotton keays and Morris show @ kedron Wavell on Friday October 16th 2009 and Brian @ Mt Gravatt Bowls Club with Russell on Saturday April 26th 2008. the show started @ 8.25pm with brian and Russell coming on stage starting with an song from their new album "I'm In Love Again" and would be on stage for the hour and 45 minutes doing their hits as well as another sing from their new Album and finished off with the classic Rolling Stones hit "Honky TOnk WOmen". the finished around 10.10pm which both Brian and Russell were FANTASTIC sounding great as ever as well as their whack sense of humor which was very funny and Brian mentioned that he was going to be an grandfather in an week and an half and also the back up band were just FANTASTIC with Peter an Queenslander on guitar and on drums John Creech who was one of the original members of the Mixtures from 1965-70 as well as an member of Bluestone. i saw my friends Pauline and Michael after the show and got to meet John creech which he was amazed that I knew about him being in the Mixtures when the group was formed in 1965 as well as them touring with the yardbirds as well as being on the Go Show which I got an autograph and photos as well as asking about what are the members of the group doing these days which he said Idris Jones Lives on the Gold Coast and some of the others including Fred Weiland living in the UK. Saw an lady named Lyn who follows my blog, met Doris and got photos and autographs with Russell and Brian. It was an FANTASTIC show and look forward to see them either together or on their own soon and to those who have not seen them live go and check them out as they put on an FANTASTIC show.

This is the DVD of the legendary British group the Hollies which it's the first official retrospective and it was released last month. In this DVD Graham Nash, Allan Clarke, Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott talk about like the formation of the group, Graham meeting Allan at the age of 6 as well as starting singing together doing the Lord's Prayer as well as the influence of the Everly brothers, Tony and Bobby joining the group, the recording Studio Abbey ROad, producer Ron Richards, exprementing their sound, some of the inspirations behind the songs, how they did the songs like I'm Alive and Look Through Any Window, getting songs like the Air That I Breathe, Just one Look and the line up changes including the departure of Graham Nash who went on to greater success with Crosby Stills and Nash and Young. LAst Friday November 11th I went to Kedron Wavell Services Club to Australian singer Daryl braithwaite which it was my 4th time seeing him live. The show started at 8.25pm with Daryl Braithwaite and his band came on stage starting off with Blueswalkin from the 1976 Sherbet album "Howzat" and would put on an 1 hour and 2o minute show doing the songs from his 80's and 90's hits as well as the other Sherbet song Howzat as well as cover songs and 2 new songs which everyone would sing along to the songs. The show finished at 9.45pm finishing off with the Horses which everyone sang along to that and someone in the audience gave an toy horse to Daryl towards the end of the show which was very good. The show was FANTASTIC with Daryl singing great as always even at the age of 62 and the back-up band including Geoff on guitar was just FANTASTIC and also after the show finished I waited to see if Daryl would come out which he did and I got an autograph and an photo with him which was great. I enjoy seeing Daryl brathwaite live and look forward to see him again live soon and also to those who have not seen him live go and see him as he puts on an great show.

Rock'n'Roll Spectacular 2011 @ kedron Wavell

On Sunday november 6th I went to Kedron Wavell to see the Rock'n'Roll Spectacular show to raise the money for the Endeavour Foundation and it was an FANTASTIC day which i'm sure they raised an lot of money for it. The line up of the show on that was an bit different again but it was GREAT and like Digger Revell wasn't supposed to be in the actual line up but was in the last minute but as well as Lee Conway wasn't well and Sharon Rowntree could'nt come but it was an GREAT line up anyway. The show started at 12.30pm with Graham Webb an well known Sydney radio disc jockey who worked in Brisbane in the early 60's on 4KQ as well as hosting the TV show Blind Date in the 70s' as well as founding host and producer of Sounds Unlimited and comedian Kenny bennett compering the show and Barry larter started the proceedings doing an set of Johnny O'Keefe songs, then Dennis Knight came on which he did an great set of rock pop classics and had 2 of his daughters on stage doing the back up vocals, Digger Revell came on next wearing an Elvis shirt doing an great set of rock songs including 2 of his hits back in 1963 "Over The Rainbow" and "Building Castles In the Air", Johnny Devlin came on next which he did an great set of rock classics, the Chevrolets then came on doing an great set of British 60's songs as well an 2 American and 2 AUstralian songs, the Sonics then came on doing an Great set of Shadows stuff as well as the Ventures and an Duane Eddy medley as Jim Hanson coming on doing an great Cliff Richard set and then Roland Storm was the last on doing an FANTASTIC set of rock songs including his hit Rolling With the Flow and finished off with Bye Bye Baby which the show finished at about 5.20pm as the people were getting out as there was an party going on there as well. It was an FANTASTIC show with the performers performing great and everyone was having an great time including myself and also in between sets Kenny Bennett would tell very funny jokes which cracked everyone up as well as raffles, spin the wheels and an auction. I got plenty of autographs and photos with most of the performers including Digger, Roland, Johnny Devlin, Dennis Knight and others and saw Ian Stokes, john, Kay, Pauline, Kevin, Di, Selina, Viv and Bob. An great job well done to Ian Stokes and the people who organised it and spoke with some of the artists like Roland and Dennis about coming back to Cooly Rocks On, Digger Revell about new stuff coming out which he said it will be on his website at diggerevell.com , Bob Blight of the Sonics about the Flamingoes which he told me that he will give me an copy of stuff he did with the Flamingoes an Brisbane group back in the 60's as he is going stuff from cassette to Disc and I look coming back to the Rock'n'roll spectacular show next year.

iron man is the autobiography written by Tony Iommi the guitarist and founding member of one of the biggest heavy metal groups from England "Black Sabbath" and this was released in Australia about 2 weeks ago. In this book Tony talks about his upbringing in birmingham, ENgland, suffered an hand injury at an sheet metal factory which would be the unique playing style that Tony would have, played in local bands like the Rocking Chevrolets, The Birds and The Beesm the Rest(featuring future Black Sabbath member Bill Ward), Mythology and Earth who would become the band known as Black Sabbath which Geezer Butler the bass player came up with the name after an 1963 film that starred Boris karloff and would become one of the biggest bands as well as one of the early heavy metal groups , the success as well as the wild excess and many others. it's an Excellent and an brilliant book which it's co written with TJ lammers and Tony tells an lot of great stories about his life and career which i was very impressed and also it must for any Black Sabbath fans as well as heavy metal fans which it's an must read. I give this 4 and a half stars and it's in the book shops now.

Last Saturday night October 29th I went to the Easts Leagues Club in Coorparoo to see an tribute show to the legendary American 70's group The Eagles called the Eagels Band and it was my first time seeing this band but it was my 2nd time this year seeing an Eagles tribute which had been back on Friday July 29th @ Morningside Services Club where I saw one of those nights (Aka MAsters Of Rock). the show started around 8pm with the Eagels band coming on stage which they did the first set doing the classic stuff like Best of My Love, One of These Nights,Lyin Eyes, I can't Tell you why etc and there was an interval where i saw an friends of Dad's named janice and Bev which they are well. The second set had more of the classic Eagles stuff as well as some of the Don henley,Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh solo stuff and the show eventually finished by after 10.30pm which they finished it off with Hotel California. It was an FANTASTIC show and the band put on an FANTASTIC show which they played great and also everyone had an great time dancing on the floor enjoying themselves. I look forward seeing this band and i recommend this band to anyone who want to see an tribute to the Eagles which i'm sure you will be impressed.

On Friday October 28th I went to kedron Wavell Services Club to see Legendary American singer Taylor Dayne which i've known her music since the 90's and was so looking forward to see her live which it was my first time seeing her. the show started around 8pm with support act Andrew Lawson who had been on the X Factor starting which he did an excellent set doing mixture of covers and originals and he was just excellent which he was on for about half an hour and also he had cd's on sale at the first break. I met Andrew which i got an autograph and an photo and I spoke with an man who showed me an picture of him and Belinda Carlisle taken outside @ kedron Wavell back in february. Taylor Dayne came on around 9pm and was on for over an hour and an bit which she was just FANTASTIC singing great doing most of the famous hits that she made back in the 80's and 90's as well as having an very good sense of humor and also the 2 back up girl singers were just FANTASTIC too singing and doing the movements as well as the back up band which just GREAT including the guitar player who was just BRILLIANT. the show finished at about 10.20pm which taylor had stuff on sale after the show and was coming out to sign and have photos and people lined up which we had to pay $20.00 to get an photo with Taylor and I got my photo with her which was GREAT. It was an FANTASTIC show which i had an great time and hope she comes back here soon.

On Saturday I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the documentary George Harrison Living In the Material World. in this documentary it talks about George Harrison's upbringing in Liverpool, joining the Quarrymen who would become the Beatles, Beatlemania success, his travels to india, the Indian culture influence in his music, his relevance and importance as an member of the Beatles, as well as his solo career after the Beatles, his friendship with Indian musician Ravi Shankar, launching Hand Made Records in the 80's, the attempt on his life in 1999 when he was stabbed and hsi sad death on November 29th 2001 and others. it's an BRILLIANT, IMPRESSIVE and an AWESOME documentary with archival interviews with George Harrison as well as interviews with people like his Brothers Peter and Harry, surviving Beatles members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Astrid Kirchherr an photographer who knew them in Hamburg,germany in the early 60's,Klaus Voorman, Eric Clapton, Pattie Boyd(george's First wife), Yoko ono, Phil Spector, tom petty, Olivia Harrison(george's 2nd wife), Dhani harrison(george's son) and many others. Olivia harrison was also one of the producers of the documentary with Nigel Sinclair and Martin Scorsese who also directs it and also Olivia chose to have Scorsese after seeing the Bob Dylan documentary No Direction Home in 2005. it has also great footage and photos some never before seen and it's deeply personal with all the great stories about they shared with george harrison. It will be 10 years next month since George's passing but at least his music lives on and this documentary it's an must for any Beatles fan out there which it is well worth seeing. i give this 5 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas now

On Friday night I went to the Mt gravatt Bowls Club to see the Legendary Australian singing group the Delltones and it's been more than an year and an half since I last saw them @ kedron Wavell Services Club on friday April 9th 2010. it's been 8 months since I was last @ Mt Gravatt Bowls CLub when I saw Australian country singer Sara Storer on thursday February 17th this year and there has been an change in the line up of the Delltones is that Danny Mayers who had been with them from 1981-85 and 1995-2011 has left the group to do his solo career. the show started @ 8.25pm with the four piece line of Woody,Owen, Merv and Pee Wee coming on stage which they did the unplugged set for the first set which they did stuff like I Wonder Why, Book Of Love, Why Do Fools Fall in Love etc and during the interval I bought the Delltones 1995 album "The Sunshine Club" which i had an talk with Carla about the latest projects for the group, Pee Wee's book and Wintersun. The guys came out for the 2nd set doing the rock'n'roll set with the guys wearing pink suits and black t shirts with peter doing the piano and sax and in the second set did their famous hits "Hangin Five", Get A Little Dirt on Your Hands, Come A Little Bit Closer as well as their very first hit "Gee" in 1959 and You're the Limit in 1961 as well as Get A Job, Blue Moon, papa oom Mow Mow, Sixteen Tons and others and before the end of the show the guys wore gold suits. the show finished before 10.30pm and was taken backstage along with an few others to say hello to the guys which i got autographs, spoke with the guys and got photos with the guys as well which i spoke with Owen about Bo DIddley which he told that he kept to himself as well as performing on TV and also telling me about the Sunshine CLub album, spoke with Merv about Roland Storm, Woody about his singing the hits which he told me that he could'nt do the way Danny sang and Pee Wee about the book which he said he's up to about 1989 as well as saying it's been an good process. I had an FANTASTIC time seeing the Delltones and they put on an FANTASTIC show which they sang great and playing great which they sounded FANTASTIC even without Danny as well as Pee Wee's sense of humor. it's early days for the group doing the 4 piece line up as it's been an few shows coming but everyone loved it and I loved it which it's GREAT. As I left i asked Carla about any recordings the group are doing and she told me that they will be recording an live CD with the 4 piece line up which should be out sometime next year. I look forward to seeing the group again and to those who have not seen them yet go and see them which they put on an FANTASTIC show.

Little Pattie show @ Redlands Perfroming Arts Center october 15th 2011

on Saturday October 15th me and my Mum Cath went to the Redlands Performing Arts Center to see legendary Australian singer Little Pattie. it was my first time being at the Redlands Performing Arts Center but have heard about it and it's an great place with an very good atmopshere. It's my 6th time seeing Little Pattie live and 2nd time this year as I saw her @ the Southern Gold Coast Pure Gold Stage in Coolangatta during Cooly Rocks On on Sunday June 12th this year and it was the 2nd time me and Mum have seen Little Pattie live which the first was @ Twin Towns on Sunday June 12th 2005 with Col Joye during Wintersun 2005. Me and Mum caught the train from Cannon Hill at 12.40pm to Cleveland and walked to the RPAC where i had an coke to drink as well as going inside. Little Pattie came on @ 2pm with her husband Laurie Thompson on drums and ray Aldridge on piano and was on stage for an hour and an half doing pop/rock songs, ballads, standards, country stuff and of course her 2 famous Surfie hits He's My Blonde Headed Stompie Wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy and Stompin at maroubra as well as telling stories about her career including the her start and being in Vietnam with Col Joye in 1966 and also there was an question session before the show finished where people could ask Little Pattie questions about her career which i ask about how did she get He's My Blonde Headed Stompie Wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy before recording it which she said it was played to her by the A&R man from EMI records. the show finished at about 3.30pm which Little Pattie had CD's on sale after the show in the foyer and people were lining up including myself which i got an autograph and an photo and also i asked her about coming back to Cooly ROcks next year which she said she hopes so. it was an FANTASTIC show and I enjoyed it very much which she puts on an GREAT show bringing back memories for those who lived in the era of the 60's as well as the days of BANDSTAND. To those who have never seen Little Pattie live go and check it out and I look forward to seeing Little Pattie again soon live.

Just 3 weeks ago the acoustic album the Acoustic Chapel Sessions by legendary Australian singer John Farnham was released. the recording of this album was recorded at chapel off Chapel in Melbourne in july and the songs on this album are his famous stuff from the 80's & 90's including Playing To Win, you're the Voice, Pressure Down, Chain Reaction, that's Freedom and others in an acoustic mode and there is an DVD which has 8 songs as well as interviews with john Farnham, Glenn Wheatley (manager), the musicians and road crew as well as behind the scenes footage. it's an EXCELLENT and VERY Good album with Farnham still in great voice as always and the songs are just BRILLIANT stripped down in the acoustic mode which sounds as great anyway as well as stunning. this album is produced by Ross Fraser, engineered and mixed by Doug Brady, Ern Rose did the OB Recording and Audio Assistant is Damien Maunders. It's an must for any John Farnham fan and it's just well worth listening as it's sounds so good. I give this 4 and a half stars and it's in the shops now

Johnny Cash Tribute show @ Morningside Services Club

On Saturday October 8th i went to the Morningside Services Club to see the Johnny Cash Tribute Show which was put together by lori Lee cash who runs rockabily shows around Brisbane. this show has been going since 2004 which had been in the valley and when i saw on the Internet that it was going to be @ the morningside Services Club i was so glad that it was going to be there as it's close to home for me anyway. the show started @ 8.30pm with Mean Eyed Cats with Dan Dualtones, Jon Flynn and Mark Stephens did 2 songs and would be the back up band for the performers of the night and for the first set Junior(the Jim Rockfords), Paddy and Theresa sang 3 or 4 Johnny cash songs which they were Excellent and there was an interval where I bought an juice to drink. in the 2nd set Paulie, CHUCKY and Michael performed an excellent set of Johnny cash which the interesting thing about Chucky's set was that he did'nt know some of the words of the songs which he an piece of paper with him and Michael wore the black gear and an a hat but he wore an white shirt and also there was an interval which I bought an packet of chips and juice. In the last set had Mitchy, Emma and Pony and when Emma came on stage her and Mitchy performed Jackson as an tribute to Walter's sister who passed away an few weeks ago which they excellent performance. I left at 11.30pm as Dad picked me up just as Doug Wilshire came on stage and the show was just FANTASTIC which the performers did an FANTASTIC job doing the Johnny Cash songs as well as the back up band Mean Eyed Cats who were FANTASTIC playing great with excellent guitar plying by Dan. I saw Lori,Sheri,Walter, Laura, Bettie, Tracy, theresa and Karen and I would like to thank Lori for putting it together so an job well done which i look forward to the next Johnny Cash tribute next year.

Elvis presley had been recording since 1954 for Sun Records which he released singles like That's Alright mama, I Forgot to Forget to remember, mystery Train, Good Rockin TOnight, , Baby Let's Play house and others and on November 21st 1955 RCA acquired Elvis's Sun contract for $40,000 which was a lot of money back in those days. Elvis ' first recording session with RCA began in nashville on January 10th and 11th 1956 where he would record the song that would launch him on the national and international scene "Heartbreak Hotel" written by Mae Axton as well as the songs that would appear on his very first album and on January 30th and 31st recorded the other songs in New York where he had been doing an appearance on Stage Show hosted by the Dorsey Brothers. the self titled album that also includes 5 of the sun recordings was released on March 23rd 1956 which went to no 1 in the USA on may 5th where it stayed there for 10 weeks and UK on November 10th which it was released as ROCK'n'Roll where it stayed for 1 week and also was also the first rock'n'roll album to hit the number 1 ever as well as the first million selling album. On Sunday october 2nd I went to the South bank Cinema to see the movie "Johnny English Reborn" which it's the sequel to the 2003 movie. johnny English(Rowan Atkinson) is in the Mountains of Tibet learning Martial Arts when he's been asked to come back to london to rejoin MI7 and is assigned to go to hong kong with his sidekick Special Agent Tucker (daniel Kaluuya) to stop an group called Fortex from planning to assassinate the Chinese premier and it leads to funny and interesting adventures throughout the movie. it's very good, funny and an wacky film as well as an great laugh with great acting by Rowan Atkinson who is so funny as Johnny English as well as Daniel Kaluuya, Gillian Anderson playing the boss of MI7 Pamela Thornton "Pegasus", Dominic West who plays Simon Ambrose,Rosamund Pike who plays Kate Sumner, Richard Schiff as fisher and others. the screenplay was written by William Davies and Hamish McColl and it's directed by Oliver Parker. I give this 4 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas

On Friday night September 30th I went to see the Whispering jack tribute show @ Carina leagues Club which it was my first time seeing it. i had heard about the show but had never seen it and I remember Sammy Clarke who works @ carina leagues Club telling me about bringing it there when i had my hair shaved for the Shave For A Cure on saturday march 12th this year. the show started with support act name Cliffy who actually performs @ carina Leagues Club did an set of clasic pop/rock hits which he was really good and there was an interval which i had an Apple and Blackcurrant juice to drink. then the Whispering Jack tribute started with Mike Vee who is from Tamworth came on stage which he did an FANTASTIC 2 sets of classic John Farnham songs from the 60's-2000's as well as one of his own songs and everyone was having an great time including myself which during the first set my cousin David sat next to me having an bottle of coke. the band was FANTASTIC including Cliffy on guitar and Coco on background vocals and the show finished @ 11.30pm which he had CD's on sale after the show. People went to say hi to Mike which i met him and got an free poster and a photo with him. it was an FANTASTIC show which i would recommend this show to any one who wants to see an tribute show to john Farnham and I look forward to seeing this show again in the future.

On Sunday September 25th i went to the garden City cinema to see the movie Monte Carlo. Grace bennett (Selena Gomez)who has just graduated from high school and along with her best friend Emma Perkins (Katie Cassidy) and step sister Meg (leighton Messer) they go to Paris which goes horrible as they have been ripped off for a suite and so little time to visit many places as well as getting left behind by their guide at the Eiffel Tower. Meanwhile British heiress Domenic Winthrop Scott also played by Selena Gomez is complaining about an charity event she had to attend in Monte Carlo and mistakenly for Domenic Grace and her friends fly to Monte Carlo where they would have fun and it's gets interesting through out the film. it's pretty good and pretty funny film which for some reason it does'nt appeal to me but I'm sure it will for others. pretty good acting by Selena Gomez, Leighton Messer, Katie Cassidy (daughter of singer/actor David Cassidy, Andie MacDowell who plays Grace's mother, Corey Monteith who plays Emma's boyfriend Owen, Luke Bracey known for trey Palmer on Home and Away plays Riley who has an liking for Meg and Pierre Boulanger plays Theo who has an liking for Grace. kelly Bowe does the screen play, directed by thomas Bezucha, nicole Kidman is one of the producers along with Denise Di novi, Arnon Milchan and Alison Greenspan and it's based on the book Headhunters by Jules Bass. i give this 3 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas

On Saturday September 24th I went to East Leagues Club to see an Beatles and Creedence tribute show which prior to the show I had dinner with Mum and saw lyndon (Walter's Brother). The show started @ 8pm with the Beetles doing most of the famous stuff from the 60's as well as wearing the suits and ties on stage during the set which everyone including myself was having an great time and they were on stage for an hour and 40 minutes which they finished @ 9.40pm. There was an interval which i bought an glass of coke and then the Creedence tribute band came on stage at 10.10pm which they did the famous Hits by Creedence and everyone was enjoying themselves dancing on the floor. I left @ 10.45pm as I was getting picked up by Dad and the show was still going when I left. It was an FANTASTIC night and I had an great time.

On Friday September 23rd i went to holland ParK bowls CLub to see the rockabilly group Melbourne called the Detonators which it was the second time this year I have seen them as the first was @ the Morningside Services Club On saturday January 22nd for the Twilight Relaunch and also it was the first time since the Rockabilly Christmas Party on Friday December 17th last year when they had an rockabilly show there. the support act was Dan and the Dualtones which they started the night which they were FANTASTIC and played great which everyone was enjoying themselves and dancing. there was an interval and the Detonators came on which they did 2 sets and they were just FANTASTIC which they played FANTASTIC and the singer James sang great and played brilliant harmonica as well as the guitarist. Everyone including myself had an great time and dancing and the show was FANTASTIC & ROCKIN. I saw Lori,Les,Kat,Karen,Paulie, Rupert,Laura,Tracey,Ramona,jodie,Michael, Sheri and Walter and I met Walter's brother Lyndon who had come for his and Walter's sister funeral as well as meeting owen and Sheree. the show finished @ 11.45pm and Ramona took me home. an great night it was

Australian singer Little pattie who has been on the Australian music scene since 1963 with "he's My Blonde Headed Stompie Wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy"/Stompin at Maroubra" is touring Queensland which happens on September 29th through October 18th and will be performing her stuff from her hits, swing,jazz,rock and roll and contempoary stuff. She's been inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, peformed in Vietnam, an member of the Bandstand Family (the music show on Channel 9 hosted by Brian Henderson) and has performed all around the world. She puts on an great show and gets everyone going which it's my 6th seeing her live and I have met her 4 times which she is an nice and friendly person. Over drinks they fantasied about their bosses not being around which even though being hesitant they agree to the idea eventually and they hire an hit man named Jones(Jamie Foxx) and it's getting interesting throughout the film. it's an very good and very funny movie with very good acting by Bateman, Day,Sudeikis, Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Lindsay Sloane,Jamie Foxx and others and Bob Newhart has an cameo at the end of the movie. it's directed by Seth Gordon and produced by Jay Stern and Brett Ratner. i give this 4 stars and it's currently running @ the cinemas.

On Friday night I went to Carina Leagues Club to see an tribute show called Down Under the OZ Rock tribute show. The show started before 8pm with the guys doing an set of songs by Neil Diamond,van Morrison,the Eagles and John Cougar mellencamp and there was an interval which they changed their stage clothes into the stuff they would eventually do for the Down Under Oz Rock show. the Oz Rock show started around 8.15pm which the guys in the band dressed differently which the first guitarist wore sunnies like on the Angels, the bass player was like one of the members of Skyhooks, the 2nd guitarist and drummer dressed as Angus Young and Brian Johnston(AC/DC) and the piano player wore an bald thing like Peter garrett of Midnight Oil and did an set of great Aussie rock classics from AC/DC, the Easybeats, Cold Chisel, Hoodoo Gurus, the Angels, Ross Wilsom, Dragon, Mental As Anything, Midnight Oil and many others and also the show lasted until 11.30pm which it was ROCKIN & FANTASTIC. Every one had an great time including myself and there were dancing on the floor which it's great to see and I look forward to seeing this band @ carina Leagues CLub soon.

The Delltones Queensland tour

Next month legendary Australian singing group the Delltones known for hits like Hangin Five, Come A Little Bit Closer and Get A Little Dirt On Your Hands are touring Queensland. the group with original member Pee Wee Wilson still tours around Australia and put on an FANTASTIC show doing 3 of famous hits and other doo wop songs which first set they do an acoustic set and in the second electric which they put on an FANTASTIC show. I have seen this group 7 times and they just get better and better every time I see them and they are well worth seeing live. if you want to go and see them check them out and I'm sure you will enjoy them which i'm sure for those who remembered them on the days of Bandstand, Six O'Clock ROck and other pop shows it's an trip down memory lane and for those who have not seen them it will be an experience that you will enjoy and never forget.

on Saturday I went to Birch Carroll and Coyle @ Carindale to see the movie "The help". it's the early 60's in an town called Jackson, Mississippi at the time of the Civil Rights era an young white woman named Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan (Emma Stone) who is an journalist who also stands out from her friends because she has an job and does not have an racist attitude like Hilly Holbrook (Bryce Dallas Howard). Aspiring to be an writer after being uninspired by her job at the newspaper Skeeter try to interviews the black maids who worked for the white people raising their children for an book she is planning which they are reluctant but the first one who tells is Aibileen Clark( Viola Davis) who has spent her life raising white children and has lost her son and Minny Jackson(Octavia Spencer) whose outspokenness has gotten her fired many times whose reputation of being an difficult employee but makes up for it with her cooking skills and it's getting very interesting throughout the film with events like the assassination of President John F Kennedy and the murder of civil rights activist Medgar Evers. It's an excellent film and an excellent story which it's based on the book by Kathryn Stockett of the same name. Tate Taylor does the screen play as well as directing the film and producers are Chris Columbus, Michael barnathan and Brunson Green. it has excellent acting by Emma Stone who is just superb as Skeeter, Bryce Dallas Howard as Hilly, viola Davis as Aibileen, Octavia Spencer as Minny, Jessica Chastian as Celia,Allison Janney known for the TV show the West Wing as Skeeter's mother Charlotte, 2 former Oscar winners Sissy Spacek plays Hilly's Mother and Mary Steenburger as Elain Stein, Cecily Tyson as Constantine Bates and others. it's funny, sad and touching and it always fascinating to have those sort of films that have historical things and to understand how things were back in the 60's in the USA particularly the south. i give this 4 and a half stars and it's in the cinemas now

On Friday Night September 2nd I went to kedron Wavell to see legendary British 60's group Hermans Hermits which has original member and drummer Barry Whitwam as part of my birthday week and it was my 8th seeing them live which 6 of them have been @ kedron Wavell. me and Mum caught the bus from Cannon Hill to Chermside and walk to Kedron Wavell which we stopped @ Coles on the way where Mum bought Winfield Gold. went to gallipoi bar which i ordered Beef nachos and saw Matthew Stewart's Aunty and Uncle while waiting for dinner. had Beef nachos for dinner and then went to the Blue pacific Room which i saw michael and Charlotta. the support act was comedian Kenny bennett came out @ 8.15pm doing an 25 minute set telling funny jokes and stories which he was very funny and then there was an interval which I went to the ticket office where I bought tickets for the taylor Dayne show on October 28th and the Rock'n'Roll Spectacular on Sunday november 6th. went back to the Blue Pacific Room and waited. At about 9pm Hermans Hermits with barry Whitwam, geoff Foot, Kevan Lingard and Mike Harling who joined the group in May replacing Eddy Carter came on stage and for the next hour and an half they put on an FANTASTIC show doing the famous hits from the 60's as well as classic rock songs which Kevan, Geoff and Mike each sang lead and Barry doing the drum solo on Let There Be Drums as well as telling the story about meeting Elvis presley in the 60's in hawaii. the show finished around 10.35pm with everyone having an great time singing along to the songs which i know I did and then bought an DVD of an live show which there were CD's and DVD's on sale and the guys came out to sign stuff which i got my DVD signed as well as getting an photo with the guys. It was an FANTASTIC show and enjoyed it very much as always and I look forward to seeing them back here next year which they keep getting better and better every time I have seen them.

On Thursday September 1st i celebrated my 33rd birthday which in the day I went to work where I got cards, chocolates, DVDs, scratchees,movie vouchers from PSA, Vouchers(JB Hi Fi) and Tim Tams Biscuits as well as $20.00 from the Theatre staff and had 2 birthday cakes which the first was with my department Patient Accounts and the 2nd with the Chaplains and some of the executives staff members. From my parents I got CD's by the Moody Blues, The Doors, Ben E King and Cheap Trick , Books about Mao's Last Dancer, Steven Tyler(Aerosmith) and Derryn Hinch and the DVD of the movie "Mao's Last Dancer" and from my brother Heath got an CD by US country singer Charley Pride. Thursday night went to my cousin Allan's cafe "Creek Road Cafe" which it's on Creek Road Carina with mum, Dad and Heath where I had Chicken Kiev salad and chips for dinner, had an cake and got vouchers from both my cousins Allan($20.00 Westfield) and Mary(JB HI FI $50.00) and also got home which i had an Ice Cream Cake. I also got money from Marilyn and Paul whom I've known since i was an baby and when I went to work on Friday had more cake with Patient Accounts i got more cards including from Judith kabel, Lesley(Patient Accounts), Sue Waugh(Kitchen) and 4F staff which I got movie vouchers as well as well as from my sister Madonna got scratchees and from my nephew and nieces confirmation to see the musical "Looking through the Glass Onion" which it's about John Lennon. went to see Kedron Wavell where I saw Hermans Hermits which it was FANTASTIC which I mention the show very soon in the next blog and on Saturday went to ten pin bowling which i got 3 cards from David and Janelle, Sharon Perkins which i got an Voucher (Coles Myer) and Adrian who I knew from Crossroads which was given to me by Anne who i bowl with and she works with Adrian. After bowling I went to Sizzler with Matthew, billy, Anita and Claire where we had lunch and had an great time which i got money from Billy, voucher from Matthew AND DEODORANT from Anita. It was an great birthday week for me and glad to get all these things from good friends and family and also today got an JB Hi Fi Voucher from Steven Peters, chocolates from Michelle Regina(5D) and rocky roads and biscuts from Suzanne(Patient Accounts)

I have seen Issi live 5 times which 4 were @ Wintersun when it was on the Gold Coast @ Coolangatta and Kedron Wavell in Brisbane on sunday september 13th 2009 and always puts on an FANTASTIC show doing classic rock'n'roll songs which everyone has an great time. Just last week Australian country singer Kasey Chambers has released her autobiography " A Little Bird Told Me". In this book she talks about her upbringing in the Nullarbor by her parents Bill and Diane her brother Nash and Kasey who for months would not encounter another human being and began performing with her family called the Dead Ringer Band which they would play in the rough and tumble pub as well as her parents separation in her early 20's , began recording for EMI where she would have successful albums like the Captain, Barricades and Brickwalls, as well as the singles like Not Pretty Enough, if I were, True Colours etc as the well as the personal demons that to threatened much more than her career and also working with people like Paul Kelly, The Living End, Robert Earl keen, Neil Finn, Lucinda Williams and others . it's an excellent book to read and Kasey tells a lot of great stories about her life & career which as of this has been written she is having her 3rd baby but 2nd with husband fellow country singer Shane Nicholson. it's an must for any Australian country music fans and this book is co written by Jeff Apter who has just co written Mark Evans' (AC/DC) autobiography and in November an biography about Dragon lead singer Marc Hunter. This album was the very first album for Skyhooks the Melbourne rock'n'roll group who were formed in 1973 with Greg Macainsh, Fred Strauks, Steve Hill(original lead singer), Peter Inglis and Peter Starkie which the line-up only lasted until August 1973 when the 2 Peters left and were replaced by Bob Starkie (Peter's brother) who was from the band Mary Jane Union and Red Symons who came from the band Scumbag and after performing @ Sunbury 1974 Steve Hill left which he was replaced by Graeme "Shirley" Strachan who had played with Greg and Fred in Frame. this was to become the classic line up of Skyhooks that would make most of the successful work and would last until 1977 when Red Symons left. the group signed up with Mushroom Records owned by Michael Gudinski which had started in 1972 and they began recording what was to become the Living In the 70's album in June 1974 @ TCS studios in melbourne which was near Channel 9 with Ross Wilson who was in Daddy Cool and later on Mondo Rock as record producer and John French as engineer which recordings lasted until July. the album was released on october 28th 1974 and there was an controversy as the Federal Of Australian Commercial Broadcasters banned 6 tracks which were Smut, Motorcycle Bitch, Toorak Cowboy, Whatever Hap pend to the Revolution, you Just Like Me Cos I'm Good In bed(which 2JJ in Sydney played on their first ever broadcast in January 1975) and Hey What's the Matter but it didn't stopped the album going to Number 1 around Australia which it charted in Melbourne in 1974 when released but by early 1975 the rest of Australia caught on which it went to number 1 for 16 weeks and would eventually sold 240,000 copies as it was to become one of the highest selling albums in Australia by an Australian at that time which the album would stayed in the charts for 6 months. this album featured 2 singles "Living In The 70's" and Horror Movie which was number 1 in early 1975 which sold more than 60,000 copies. this albums stands up very well in 2011 with the songs written by Greg Macainsh as well as Smut written by Red Symons sounding as great today as it did 37 years ago as these songs were reflecting on local life and the happenings as well as teenage issues. Skyhooks came at a time as the country went through the change of government led by Gough Whitlam as well as the end of the Vietnam era and glam music was starting to become popular as well as colour TV was about to happened as it would occurred in Australia on March 1st 1975. it's hard to believe that today(August 29th) is 10 years when Shirley Strachan was killed in an helicopter accident and it was an sad loss to Australian rock but at least his work lives on in the music of Skyhooks and this album is one of the best Australian albums ever made. it's still in the shops somewhere and be sure to buy it as there is an lot of great stuff on it which despite the 6 tracks banned it's tamer compared to the stuff today.

On Friday August 26th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see the Elton John tribute show I'm Still Standing that has Greg Andrew doing Elton John and it was my first time seeing an Elton John tribute show. the show started at about 8.15pm- 8.20pm with Greg Andrew and the band coming out which they did the first set doing the Elton John stuff and there was an break which I saw an lady i know named Karen Riding and had an bottle of water. the second set Greg doing more of the Elton john classics and some people came on the dance floor including myself having an great time. I love the clips on the screen when Greg was doing those Elton classics and the band with Dave, Trent and Layla were just great. the show finished at 11pm which I met Layla and then met Greg which i got an photo with him which he was nice and friendly. On Saturday I went to South bank Cinema to see the movie "Red Dog". an truck driver named Tom(Luke Ford) stops at a bar @ Dampier, Western Australia which he see people holding an gun which he thinks he is witnessing an murder he goes into the next room and see the men putting down the dog as he has been poisoned. the locals including Jack an barman(Noah Taylor) tells stories about the dog and how he made an impact into lives including hitching rides with people and eventually has an master in John Grant an American (josh lucas) who eventually falls in love with the secertary of the mining company named Nancy(Rachel Taylor) and it has interesting moments throughout the film. It's sad,touching, funny and a BRILLIANT film with an excellent performance by Koko an woofer as well with excellent acting by the actors including Josh Lucas, Rachel taylor, Noah taylor, Loene Carmen, Arthur angel, Keisha Castle Hughes and even an appearence by the Bill Hunter in his last film. it's based on the true story which was written by Louis de Bernieres who also writes the screenplay, julie Ryan produced the film and it's directed by Kriv Stenders. it's one of the second best Australian movies of the year I have seen and it's has an real Australian spirit about it. it's an must for australian movie fan and it's well worth it. i give it 5 stars and it's currently running in the cinmeas.

Dirty Deeds is the book written by former bass player of AC/DC Mark Evans which was released 2 weeks ago. In this book he talks about his upbringing in Melbourne which his father died in 1968, playing in an local band called Judd, joins AC/DC in March 1975 after being introduced to them by his friend Steve McGrath who was also the band's roadie which he would be with them for 2 years until MAy 1977 playing on 3 albums "TNT', Dirty Deeds and Let There Be Rock as well as appearances on Countdown, moving to London on the road to stardom working with people like Black Sabbath, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow , being sacked from AC/DC, playing with Finch aka Contraband,swanee,heaven, the Party Boys and Cheetah, the death of his daughter Kristin and others. It's an execellent and a BRILLIANT book which mark tells an lot of great stories and it's all very interesting stuff which this book is co written with Jeff Apter who is currently co authoring Kasey Chambers's autobiography and an book about Dragon lead singer MArc Hunter. It's an must for any AC/DC fan as well as fans of rock'n'roll it's great read and highly recommended.I give this 5 stars and it's in the book shops now,

The band with Ross Wilson, Ross Hannaford,Gary Young and Wayne Duncan were formed in October 1970 in Melbourne playing around at places like Much More ballroom, The Melbourne Town Hall, Garrison, the Myer Music Bowl and others and began recording for Sparmac an small independent label. The album was recorded @ Armstrong studios in Melbourne which was recorded in 2 and a half days on 8 track and the producer was Robie Porter formerly known as Australian pop star "Rob EG" who was very popular in the late 50's early 60's with hits like Si Senor and 55 Days @ Peking and had been living in the USA at that time as well being half owner of the Sparmac label. The first single "Eagle Rock" was released in late May 1971 which was an number 1 hit around Australia for 10 weeks and 17 weeks in Melbourne and it's one of the great Australian rock songs with the guitar intro, the sound and the lyrics. the album was released in July 1971 which went to number 1 for 7 weeks and it sold 100,000 copies which it smashed all previous sales records as it went Gold within the month 60,000 in the initial released. It's an BRILLIANT and ROCKIN album and it's just as fresh today as it was 40 years ago. Robie Porter,Jeremy Noone and Dave Brown played on the album as well, Roger Savage was the engineer, Ian McCausland an Artist and worked for Go Set an Australian music newspaper at that time did the cover graphics and Ross Hannaford did the cover design. this album has 11 tracks which were on the original album that includes Eagle Rock, the album version of Come Back Again, the b side of Eagle Rock "Bom Bom", Daddy Cool, School Days (the Chuck Berry song) and other mixture of covers and Ross Wilson compositions and it has 4 songs as the bonus tracks including the single version of Come Back Again as well as 3 songs from the Reprise Records release that was released in the USA. Last Sunday August 7th I went to Greazefest @ Rocklea SHowgrounds which it was my 4th time and i had an great time. I saw 2 Bands Paulie and His Crazy Rhythm Boys and the Vampers which they were just FANTASTIC and the fashion parade which was just FANTASTIC which people were different stuff like Sheri and Walter in the cowboy gear, bettie Butcher in the swimming gear and others. i bought an Cd at the Stall which was the Joy boys an Australian group back in the late 50's and 60's who back up Aussie rocker Col Joye and had success in their own right with instrumental hits. Saw Lucille Jolly an lady I've known since 2000 when we were in an social group Crossroads which she is well despite trouble with her thumb and had not seen her since August 2nd 2009 which she is working doing cleaning. I saw Kat,Les,Drea, Laura,Sheri, Walter, bettie, haylee, Chloe, Amanda, karie and Lori Lee and met lisa, Jessica,Dorian and Karla. I enjoyed Greazefest which this year was bigger better than ever and it's great to see people coming to this festival every year which it's an GREAT thing to look at the cars and the stalls as well as the music. the cars are great to look at the photos that were displayed there were just as GREAT too. I look forward to coming back there again next year.

the Rolling Stones Experience @ Easts leagues Club

Last Saturday night I went to Easts leagues Club in Coorparoo to see the tribute the Rolling Stones Experience which it was my first time seeing this band and i had not seen an show @ Easts since January 29th this year where i saw an Bee Gee Tribute show. The show started at 8pm with the band coming on stage which they did the first set with Stones classics from the 60's, 70's and 80's including Start Me Up, Let's spend the Night Together, Jumpin Jack Flash and others as well as me going on the dance floor towards the end of the 1st set. there was an interval which i bought an bottle of water and check my mobile including Facebook. The second set had them doing more of the stones Classics of the 60's, 70's, 80's and an song from the 90's you got me Rocking and everyone was having an great time on the dance floor including myself as well as singing along to the great songs which still endures after more than 45 years. the show finished around 10.30pm which the band were FANTASTIC and the lead singer John did an great Mick Jagger doing the movements and singing. I had an FANTASTIC time and I enjoyed seeing this band which I look forward to seeing them again in the future. i saw Joanne,Lorraine and Brian after the night before and they had an great time themselves and Dad picked me @ 10.45pm to go home.

One of Those Nights the Eagles tribute show @ morningside Services Club

Last Friday night July 29th I went to the Morningside Services Club to see the eagles tribute show "One Of Those Nights" which I had not been there since February 26th when I went to the Rockabilly Bop show and It's the first of those tribute shows to happen at Morningside. I had bought the ticket on may 28th and I had seen it on the Masters Of ROck website which I was glad to see it performing closer to home. On the Night Dad took me there , had an glass of juice and saw My neighbours Helen and Gary as well as Lorraine, Brian and Joanne who i had met in June during Cooly Rocks On at the Breakfast With the stars which I got talking with them. the show started after 8.30pm meant to start @ 8pm and the band came out which they did the first set of Eagles classics which they were FANTASTIC and Sounded great which was pretty close to the sound of the Eagles which the band had 7 musicians on stage. there was an interval which I bought juice and had an glass of water. the band came out for the second set which more of the bigger hits of the Eagles and everyone was having an great time singing along to the songs as well as people were dancing on the floor. I left @ 10.50pm as they were getting towards the end as dad picked me up and had an FANTASTIC time. The show was ROCKIN & FANTASTIC and they were just FANTASTIC and played great. I look forward to seeing them live again in the future and I hope there will be more tribute shows @ Morningside Services Club in the future as well.

Remembering Aunty margaret

On Sunday July 10th 2011 my Aunty Margaret passed away unexceptedly from an heart attack at her home for 45 years in Carina aged 77 and it was a huge shock to my family which with the passing of Uncle John last year and Aunty Dawn in 1986 leaves my mother Cath as nana's only surviving child which i hope and pray that Mum will be around long enough for us to get into our mature age as well as my nieces and nephew to grow up. Aunty Margaret was my Nana's eldest child born in Rockhampton on April 18th 1934 to nana and Edward Sullivan (Nana's 1st husband) which ended an couple of years later due to complicated circumstances. Nana and Aunty margaret came to brisbane in about 1937 which they lived in Spring Hill with an family called Turner with nana's best friend Sarah Turner and her 5 children Yvonne,John and triplets Patty,Dawn and Mickey which the last 3 would be friends with Aunty Margaret for the rest of their lives as well as with mum,aunty Dawn and Uncle John. Nana married my grandfather peter Joseph Hagenbach in the late 30's and would have 3 more children Aunty Dawn Marie(September 29th 1940-November 24th 1986), Mum aka Catherine Ann(November 22nd 1944-)and Uncle John Trevor(may 10th 1946-September 1st 2010) and by the time Mum was 2 my grandparents split up. Aunty Margaret would married Uncle Eric Noon on March 8th 1952 @ Coorparoo Methodist Church which would last 51 years with 5 children Allan,Dayle,Gary,David and Mary and 2 grandchildren Caitlin(deceased) and lachlan July 23rd 2004.Her funeral was held @ Mt Thompson Crematioum on Wednesday July 20th which attended by family and friends besides from me,Mum,Dad and Heath as well as my cousins were Ruth Handsley Hind whose father was George handsley (Nana's Uncle) who is one of the remaining links to the handleys as well as Viki (Dawn Turner's daughter), the Noon relations including Bubby and Glen whose Mum has been friends with for nearly 60 years as well as Marian Minehan(Uncle Eric's surviving sibling) and her husband Ray as well as some of her children, Mavis Noon(john's wife) with 2 of her 3 daughters Val and Johnnie(Patty)and others. the service was conducted by an minister named Peter McCarthy, showed pictures of Aunty Margaret on the screen, had some bible passages from psalm 23, talking about the life of aunty Margaret and had music played like yesterday and Hallelujah . After the service spoke with some of the people and went to Carina Leagues Club where we had sandwiches and niblets and chatted with people including my cousins and friends. I said an speech remembering aunty Margaret and this is what I said-
Aunty Margaret was an sister to my Mum Cath, Aunty Dawn and Uncle John, an Mother to Allan,Dayle,Gary,David and Mary, an Grandmother To Caitlin and lachlan, an Aunty to myself, my brothers Danny and heath and sister Madonna as well as Aunty Dawn's childen Sharne,Steven,Keryn and Caroline, an great Aunty to tumoana,Ani and Te Paera as well as Aunty Dawn's 11 grandchildren, an cousin and an friend. I will always remember Aunty Margaret as a nice lady and in the years between 2003-10 I always looked forward to seeing her when we used to go to her place @ Carina for birthdays,Christmas and other things which I always enjoyed coming over. Aunty Margaret and I had an love for old movies which we would talk about them as well as old TV shows like Coronation Street,Eastenders,the Waltons and others. I wrote letters to her and rang her up from 1989-91 as well as sent her an wedding anniversary card that I made @ buranda Special School and also sent christmas cards as well for an number of years. i would always remember Aunty Margaret asking how was my work going as well as bowling and was proud of me of what I'm been doing particuarly with my work @ St Andrews War memorial Hospital. i remember coming to the house on Tuesday December 27th 1988 which i was there for an few hours as well as coming to her 60th birthday in April 1994 at mary's place in Carindale which i said an speech there as well as Her and Uncle Eric's 50th wedding anniversary in 2002 and also coming to the house on Monday January 2nd 1995. i always got birthday cards from Aunty Margaret with some money in it which was very nice. I am very glad that Aunty Margaret along with Mary,Lachlan,allan,Vince and David came to my joint 30th birthday party @ Norman park Bowls Club on Saturday September 20th 2008 and I was very happy that she came along with the others. it's sad that Aunty Margaret has passed on but let's not forget as long as we have the memories and the positive and happy thoughts of her she is alive in spirit in her family and her friends. i will miss you Aunty margaret and may god guide her children through this sad time. let's all be there for each other and help each other at this time.
Everyone there loved the speech including my cousins and 2 of them would like an copy of it. Sad day in one way but good in the other as I have not seen some of the people in a while and also 3 days went to my Aunty's house to celebrate Lachlan's 7th birthday which was an very nice day as we got talking.

Buddy the Concert show @ Kedron Wavell Friday july 15th

On Friday night July 15th I went to Kedron Wavell Services Club for the 2nd this month and I went to see Buddy the Concert that had Scott Cameron doing Buddy Holly. It was my 4th time seeing him as well as my 2nd for this year having seen him @ the Class of 59 show @ QPAC Concert Hall on Saturday April 2nd with lonnie Lee, Leon Isackson, Cassidy Wilson, Brian Dean, Alan Freeman, Eric Rassmussen, James Nation Ingle and anthony Petrucci. the show started at 8pm with Scott and the 59'ers JAmes nation Ingle and Simon Bentley doing other people's songs as well as a few Buddy Holly stuff with the guys wearing t shirts and jeans in the era when they were 3 young guys having fun and there was an interval which i had an look the memorabilia stall where there were CD's and the book written by Peggy sue Gerron(peggy Sue the song). there was an raffle which an lady won the handwritten lyrics of Peggy Sue and Scott came on stage to have the photo taken with the lady. the 2nd set had the guys wearing suits and ties as well as the recreating the scenes at the Apollo and Clear lake doing the classic Buddy holly songs and other classic rock stuff and everyone having an great time singing along to the songs and some of the people were dancing also. the show lasted for nearly 2 and half hours which it was ROCKIN & FANTASTIC and Scott and the band were just GREAT, played GREAT and Scott is just FANTASTIC doing Buddy holly. After the show Scott came out to sign autographs which i got an autograph and a photo and bought the Peggy Sue book. At the show I saw Di,Kevin, Bob,Viv, Gwen and Pauline and met 2 of Viv's cousins and Lyn from Sydney. Mental As Anything show @ kedron Wavell July 8th 2011

last Friday night July the 8th I went to see the legendary Australian 80's pop group Mental As Anything at kedron Wavell which it was my 5th time seeing them as my first seeing them at the Hotel Carindale on Friday July 18th 2003. The show started @ 8.15pm which the group came on stage with temporary drummer as their current drummer Rob was not well and they put an FANTASTIC show as always doing all those famous hits as well as a few newer songs and 2 classic songs with Greedy doing the talking and having an great time as well as his funny sense of humor . Everyone was having an Great time singing along to those songs which still endures after 32 years when they had their first hit and the guys are just as great now as they have always been which every time I see them they just get better and better. The show last for an hour and half which finished at around 9.45pm and they had Cd's on sale after the show and also l saw my friend Michael from the gigs which we got talking about the upcoming shows as well as seeing Monica Walker (ex St Andrews staff member) whom i had not seen since leaving St Andrews on February 11th this which she is well and liking her new job and also my other friend from the gigs Leigh who i had not seen since the Vince Melouney show @ Twin Towns last year on Wednesday August 11th. greedy and Martin came out which i got autographs and photos with them and it was an FANTASTIC show which i look forward to seeing them again and if anyone wants to see them live go to mentals.com.au

Last Sunday i went to the South bank Cinema to see the movie called Mr Poppers Penguins. Tom Popper(jim Carey) an successful businessman who is divorced with 2 children and his father traveled the world. After his father dies he gets an penguin an Gentoo and gets more after an miscommunication which it comes to 6 and he intends to donate the local Zoo but the kids loved them which he eventually keeps them. meanwhile Tom is going to buy Tavern On the Green owned by Selma van Gundy(Angela Lansbury) with the intent of knocking it down and selma will only sell it to someone who she deems an person of true value and it 's gets very interesting throughout the movie. it's an very good film and it's very funny as well. jim Carrey is just as Funny as Tom with other very good performances by Carla Gugino as Amanda, Madeline Carroll and Maxwell Perry Cotton as Tom's children Janie and Billy, Angela Lansbury whose first film "Gaslight" was made 67 years ago is excellent as Selma and others. The penguins voices were done by frank Welker and the baby ones were done by Dee Bradley Baker. Those penguins were very funny and were great as well. it was produced by JohN Davis and directed by Mark Waters. I give this 4 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas at the moment.

Just 2 weeks ago the autobiography of New Zealand entertainer Ray Columbus known for being in the successful NZ rock group in the 60's Ray Columbus and the Invaders was released and it's called the Modfather the life and times of an rock'n'roll pioneer. in this book Ray talks about his upbringing and growing up in Christchurch, began in the entertainment business at the age of 6 doing tap dancing,getting into rock'n'roll forming an band called the Dominoes in 1959, joining an band called the Downbeats who were an old style dance band who would go through line up changes and would eventually become the band known as Ray Columbus and the Invaders,the attempted rape by an gang of women his father's alcohol problem, going to Auckland, having success in Australia with She's a Mod an Number 1 hit in 1964, touring with the Rolling Stones,Roy orbison, the Dave Clark Five, Hermans Hermits, tom Jones and working in the USA and many others told in this book. it's an AWESOME and BRILLIANT book to read and Margie Thomson co wrote this book with Ray. Ray Columbus tells an lot of great stories in this book and it's an MUST for any rock'n'roll fan of the 60's who grew up in the days of Bandstand and Sing SIng Sing. I love this book and I'm you will be impressed after reading this. I give this 5 stars and it's in the bookshops now.

Dooley Rocks Cooly @ Twin Towns

The last show I attended for Cooly Rocks On 2011 was the Dooley rocks Cooly show at twin Towns on Sunday night June 12th and it had 4 of the Wickety Wak guys Rob Rosenlund, Greg Doolan, Tony Jeffrey and Pahnie Jantzen and Greg's wife Laura Doolan. It was my 2nd time seeing the Wickety Wak guys as I saw them @ Wynnum manly Leagues Club on Friday October 10th 2008 and it was FANTASTIC. I left around 7pm to walk to twin Towns and went to the 5th Floor where I saw Judy my friend on Facebook and had seen me at Wynnum Manly leagues club and i bought an live DVD of Wickety Wak performing @ Twin towns in 2007. I went in the showroom and the place was packed which it sold out. The show started at 7.30pm with Rob,Greg,Tony,Pahnie and Laura coming out and for 2 hours did an great set of rock'n'roll songs performed by the Guys as well as excellent singing by Laura including an slower version of I Only Want to To Be with You which was impressive and Greg as Dooley was doing the radio announcing live and was telling about what was happening during an certain year. Pahnie did the twist and doing Louis Armstrong as well and each of the guys sang very well as well as the humour which was great as we know wickety Wak for. The show finished around 9.30pm and the guys had stuff on sale like Cd's by Greg,Tony and Rob and DVD's including the wickety wak show from 1987 as well as the 2007 show and also I got my DVD signed by the guys and an autograph by Laura as well as having photos with them. the show was FANTASTIC and great way to finish my week at Cooly Rocks On which i had an great time at the shows.

On Sunday afternoon i went to the Pure gold Stage on marine Parade which it had rained through Sunday morning even after the breakfast with the stars and there were some shows that were supposed to happened cancelled and thinking there would be shows but eventually the sun came out before midday which i was having lunch at the Pasta and Pizza Place where I had nachos for lunch and spoke with my friends from the gigs David and Richard. Tony WOrsley compared the show which he sang 2 songs, Joe Daniels came on stage which he did an very good set, Roland storm did an very good set and Little Pattie came on stage which she did an great set doing rock,pop and some country as well as doing 2 of her famous 60s's Surfin/stomp hits He's My Blonde Headed Stompie Wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy and Stompin at Maroubra as well as telling some stories including starting out in her career where she told the story about auditioning for EMI doing Over the Rainbow. i enjoyed the show including Little Pattie's performance and the Mighty Guys did an Brilliant job backing up the performers and after the show saw Mick hamilton,Pattie, Mike Lawler,Phil Eisenberg, Roland Storm and terry Gascoigne which i got photos and autographs with Mike,Phil and pattie and also asked Phil about any chances of the ferrets music coming out on CD which he said might happen as well as was he ever considered for the countdown tour or was it just Billy Miller which he said it was just Billy . Went to the Malaya restuarant where I saw Mick,Terry,Mike, Phil and met Mick "Hound DoG" which i got an autograph and photo as well as getting photos and autograph with Mick hamilton and spoke with him about performing with gary Puckett, ian Turpie which he told me that he was staring to eat again and about the Go Show concert which will be coming to brisbane and the other cities early next year in March which i will be looking forward to it. I look forward to seeing the Mighty guys next year for the next Cooly ROcks On and Phil gave me an free CD of the Might Guys album "Landslide" which he and Mike signed it.

On Sunday June 12th I went to the Greenmount Surf Club for the 3rd and last breakfast With the stars which this one had drummer of Johnny O'Keefe and the Dee Jays Catfish Purser. He and his partner kay were there along with one of the musicians who plays with Catfish in his band and said hello to him. Also there at the breakfast was my friends from the gigs Kevin and his wife Di and for breakfast i had the same hot meals as i had on Friday and saturday. I got an autograph and an photo with Catfish and I asked about the Delltones which he said he played on many of their hits like Get A Little Dirt On Your Hands,Hangin Five and others as well as groups like the Flanagans which he told me that he still keeps in touch with Margaret and also I remember Kevin asking about the noise on You hit the Wrong Note Billy Goat which Catfish told him about going to a farm and pulled the tail of goat. I thanked the staff for the Breakfast for the past few days and hope it gets better next year with no more muck ups.I loved the Breakfast with the Stars which i always enjoy hearing the stories and look forward to going to it again next year

On Saturday night June 11th I went to the Coolangatta Tweed Golf CLub to see the sonics doing the shadows with Jim hansen doing Cliff Richard and the Chevrolets doing the British Invasion 60's music. Dad took me to The golf club as there was an problem as the bus did'nt at greenmount due to the road being blocked off and saw Marina(Matman's wife). The Sonics who are an Brisbane group have formed since 1961 and i have this band since 2007 at Wintersun and they are just Great doing the Shadows music so well. Jim hansen has been singing with them for about 3 years does an very good Cliff RIchard segment and their performance in their set which just FANTASTIC. There was an interval which I got an free poster and an live CD by the Chevrolets. In the 2nd set the Chevrolets came on which they did an FANTASTIC set doing the british 60's stuff which they did most of the same stuff I saw them doing on thursday but did an bit more different songs and it was great any way. at the end of the show the sonics joined the Chevrolets doing "Do you Wanna Dance" and the show was FANTASTIC altogether with 2 FANTASTIC bands. After the show got my CD's signed which I spoke to the Chevrolets guys and spoke with 2 of the sonics members Bob the bass player and Rob the drummer and eventually caught the bus back to bella Mare.

The four and last of the free show I saw on Saturday at the outrigger stage was the Melbourne rock group the Rockerfellaz . I only just had heard of the them prior to the festival and I had met Dennis the manager @ the breakfast With the Stars in june 2009 as well as sending me an message on Facebook about coming to Cooly Rocks on. the show on Saturday was just FANTASTIC as they did an great set of classic rock'n'roll songs from Little Richard,Jerry lee lewis, Gene Vincent, Bill haley and others and it's great to see these guys who are in their 20's playing those classic rock songs which it's great and I saw dennis for the 2nd time that week as I saw him on the way to Pizza hut on Tuesday and met david one of the musicians of the band. After the show finished I bought an DVD and met one of the other guys.

The 3rd show I saw @ the Outrigger Stage on Saturday was Catfish and the Dee Jays with Catfish Purser who played drums with johnny O'Keefe back in the 50's & early 60's in the Dee jays and played on many of Johnny O'Keefe's recordings like the Wild One(real Wild Child), Shout, So Tough, Sing and many others and plays around the Gold COast area with his Dee jays. the show I saw was just FANTASTIC as they did an set of great rock'n'roll stuff including stuff by Chuck berry, Buddy Holly,Eddie Cochran, Lloyd Price and of course Johnny O'Keefe and each member of the group doing lead vocals which it's great to see that and also everyone was having an great time dancing and singing along to those songs. It was my 3rd time seeing the band and the show was on for an about an hour which after the show said hello to Catfish and I was going to see him the next day for the Breakfast with the Stars @ Greenmount Surf Club.

The Queen Of ROck Suzi Quatro Tribute Show

The 2nd show I saw at the Outrigger Stage on Saturday was The Queen Of ROck Suzi Quatro tribute show which had Brandi and the Badcats as it was only my 2nd time seeing Brandi doing the Suzi Quatro tribute show which my first was at Coolangatta during Wintersun 2008 on Sunday June 8th 2008 at the Twin towns stage and have mainly seen her doing the rockabilly stuff at mainly Carina Leagues Club for the last 3 years. The Suzi tribute I saw done by Brandi was just FANTASTIC and despite the cold wind and clouds everyone had an great time as Brandi was those classic Suzi songs that still endures after 38 years and Reno playing excellent guitar as always as the piano player David and Julian the drummer. I enjoyed brandi doing Suzi and look forward more of it in the future and after the show I said hello to brandi and saying great show to her.

joe Daniels and the Mighty Guys @ The Outrigger Stage

The first free show I attended was at the Outrigger Stage on Saturday Morning(June 11th) and I saw Joe Daniels and the Mighty Guys. I had gone from seeing the street parade on Marine Parade when I first heard music playing and went to the Outrigger Stage where I saw the Mighty Guys playing which i saw Mike Lawler and Mick hamilton recognised me as well as Mick said on the micro phone "Hi Luke" which I said "Hi Mick". They did an very good set doing classic rock songs and Joe Daniels came on stage which he did only an few songs but he was very good. I thanked Joe after the show which I saw at the Breakfast With the Stars with Little Pattie an few hours early when she introduced him to everyone and I said hello to Phil Eizenberg and Mike. Great show it was.

On Saturday morning June 11th I went to Greenmount Surf Club for the 2nd Breakfast With The Stars which this time it was Little Pattie. It was my time having breakfast with Little pattie as the first was @ the same place during Wintersun 2009 on Friday june 5th and it was an great time experience too talking about her career and people asking questions about her life which I asked about Jay Justin who wrote her early songs and how important was shows like Bandstand,Sing Sing Sing, Saturday Date, Opportunity Knocks and others. on this day Little Pattie came after 7am and said hi to everyone. I had bacon,Sausages,Baked beans, Tomatoes and Hash browns for breakfast and I saw Little Pattie coming to my table which she said "Hello My Darling Nice to see you" which I said nice to see you too and welcome to Cooly ROcks On. Little pattie got our attention an few times when there were problems concerning coffee and tea and the organization of the breakfast with the stars which she said making Cooly Rocks On an success. People asked questions about her career which i asked about her memories of the Long Way To the Top tour which she said it was the best time of their lives and remembers about some of the rockers talking about the battles of the teas like twinings and others comparisons to the old days when they had stuff like Burbon and some were asking about Col Joye, if she had any children and coming to Coolangatta in the 60's which she talked about how the Joy Boys were strict about the parties which she had to go bed when the parties were going on. Phil Villers who is the Deputy Chair and Deputy President of Cooly Rocks On was at the Breakfast and I got to speak with him which he was very nice and friendly. Pattie had Cd's on sale and she signed my program and got an photo with her. If you ever get a chance to meet her after an show she is very nice and friendly to the fans and very down to earth.

The Big Bopper Jr @ Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club

On Friday night June 10th I went to the Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club to attend the first of the 2 shows I would attend both promoted by matman Promotions which was singer Big Bopper Jr son of US singer the Big Bopper who had the hit Chantilly lace in 1958 and was killed in the plane crash with Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens on February 3rd 1959 which 3 months later the son was born. i caught an courtesy bus from Bella Mare to the Golf club which i caught it at 6.30pm, bought an juice while I waited, went inside where I saw Colin,Joe, Marina and Matman, bought the Big Bopper Jr CD, and saw Steven and his wife from New Zealand whom I had met @ Wintersun last year and singer Billy O'Rourke who also does an Johnny O'Keefe tribute show as well and was from the Thunderbirds one of the early Aussie rock'n'roll groups back in the 50's. Sharon Rowntree came on which she did an very good set, Barry Larter did an really good Johnny O'Keefe segment and Marcia Ray did an bit of Connie Francis stuff. there was an interval and then the Big Bopper Jr came out which he was FANTASTIC doing his father's songs and he sounds a bit like his father as well as telling stories about the inspirations of the songs his father wrote and also in the beginning of his performance the Big Bopper Jr said that it's been 52 years in the making as his father was meant to come to Australia in March 1959 when the plane crash occured. the Big Bopper Jr was on for an hour which he put on an FANTASTIC show and even though it was not hugely packed everyone there had an great time and after the show he came to sign the Cd's which i got an autograph and an photo with him. I enjoyed the show and I hope the big Bopper Jr comes back again which would be great.

Breakfast With the Stars Tony Worsley and Roland Storm

On Friday Morning June 10th I went to the Greenmount Surf Club for the breakfast with the stars which had Tony Worsley and Roland Storm and it was my 5th time attending the Breakfast with the Stars which my first on Sunday June 12th 2006 @ the coolangatta Bowls CLub with Johnny Rebb,Alan Dale(Aussie rocker),vicki Forrest and Catfish purser (the dee jays) and 3 times in 2009 on june 4th,5th and 6th with Catfish Purser,Alan Dale,Little pattie and Lucky starr at the greenmount surf Club. this day (Friday) was the first one for the festival but the day before(thursday)there was an muck up as the breakfast was supposed to be on the day and those of us who went to the surf club showed the tickets to the people but they did'nt know about the prepaid tickets and we were supposed to pay $15.00 and even tony Worsley who was there did'nt know what was going on but we did chat with tony which i ask about the Go Show concerts and the Long Way to the top tour as well as telling us about reforming the blue jays next year as well as going to the USa in October to see Barry gibb(the Bee gees) and also gave us an free CD which he signed it. but on Friday the breakfast with Roland and Tony was FANTASTIC which i had an very nice hot breakfast which was bacon,sausage,baked beans,tomatoes and hash browns and spoke with both Roland which I asked about where people like the Flanagans, The Crescents, the taylor Sisters, Jay justin, Warren Williams, del juliana, and others and told me that there is tapes of his that he recorded for W&G label but is left unmarked as well as Chet Clark had got the tape of the episode of 6 O'Clock Rock with bryan Davies singing YOu Talk Too much and other things and asked TonY Worsley about who were singing back vocals on Missing You which where ROyce and Clarke(Royce Nicholls and Mal Clarke), touring with The Kinks,Manfred mann, The Honeycombs, The Dave Clark Five and the Seekers as well as getting Velvet Waters, working with Steve Neale of the Brisbane rock group the Planets and how important was Ivan Dayman to his career. bought 3 Cd's by Roland which he signed 2 of them and got an photo with Tony and Roland

Johnny O'Keefe Celebration concert @ Twin Towns

On the same night June 9th I went to the Johnny O'Keeffe celebration Concert @ twin Towns which it was 4th time. I left Bella Mare at around 7.15pm, walk to twin Towns and saw Bob,Ruth and Wayne Edwards who i knew from ten Pin bowling when we did Harmony league at cannon Hill from Saturday march 29th 2003 until Saturday June 27th 2009 as i had not seen them from that time which they are well and Wayne is still doing ten pin bowling at capalaba. Went inside the showroom and spoke with an man who was sitting next to me which there were clips of johnny O'Keefe while we were waiting. the show started around 8pm which the Rockhounds doing 1 song and Tony Worsley came on stage as he was the compare which Steve Allison was supposed to do it but didn't turned up so Tony sang 3 songs. Legendary Australian singer Lee Conway came on next which he did an set of country and rock with an acoustic guitar and Tony Worsley came back on stage which an few more songs including 2 of his hits. Dennis Knight came on stage which he did an great set of Johnny O"keefe songs as well as bit of Elvis,Roy Orbsion and Chick berry and also sang Chantilly lace with the Big Bopper Jr who was there for the shows during Cooly Rocks On promoted by matman promotions as well the show @ Twin Towns and the shows @ Twelfth Night Theater in Brisbane from June 15th-19th. It was an FANTASTIC night and the performers were great anyway. After the show I bought an CD by Dennis Knight "The Other Side" which he signed the CD, saw Marina,Matman and Ian Stokes who organises the rock'n'Roll Spectacular show for charity and Matman introduced me to the Big Bopper Jr which it was an honour and a thrill as i was seeing him the next night at the Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club which Matman took an photo of us. Got an photo with Dennis Knight, saw Tony Worsley which we spoke a bit about the breakfast with the stars which he was coming again the next day as there was an muck up early in the morning and went back to bella mare.

The Chevrolets @ Twin Towns

On Thursday June 9th I went to twin Towns to see the group the Chevrolets whom I had not seen live since November 2009 but I saw Bernie last year @ Kedron-Wavell for the Rock'n'Roll Spectacular show for the endeavour Foundation. I had bought the ticket on Monday as I planning to see them anyway and on the day of the show I got there around 10.30am which i went to the 5th floor and bought an CD by the Chevrolets called "The Way It Was" where I saw Ruth(Bernie's wife) and told me that the guys would come out to sign after the show. Went inside the showroom which i sat at the front and the Chevrolets with Bernie Hutton,martin Hope,Ricky Wilson and Allan Kershaw came on stage at about 11am which they were on for an hour and a half which it was an FANTASTIC show doing the British Invasion stuff of the 60's from the likes of the Beatles,
Rolling Stones,the Hollies, Hermans Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers and others as well as good humor which Bernie attempted an rap version of He ain't heavy as well as Ricky doing an drunken version of Cinderella and martin putting an big ear thing towards the end of the show. The show finished at 12.30pm, went outside which I got My CD signed by the guys, saw Bob whom i had met at Kedron wavell in April and got an photo with the guys . I enjoy seeing the Chevrolets and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to an tribute to the British 60's Invasion.

just the Ticket @ Twin Towns

the first show I attended for Cooly Rocks On was on Wednesday June 8th and it was the group Just the Ticket @ Twin towns. i had not planned to see them but it only happended as the show I was supposed to go which was the Traders Ball which included Darren J ray and the Love Bugs at the Civic Center was cancelled and i was only told this after dad dropped me off when an man told me and i had to tell 2 other ladies about it which they could'nt believe it and also told 2 other people about it as well. i was surprised about the cancellation because i thought Darren would never cancel an show like that but I saw an message from kaitlyn who is one of the Love Bugs saying it was cancelled as well as the Cooly Rocks On page on Facebook page and it was only the next day when I went to the internet cafe at showcase shopping center to check my email which there was one from cooly rocks on about the shows cancellation because of low ticket sales. i had to decide about what other shows to see and I eventually chose Just the Ticket @ Twin Towns which i walked there with the ladies and saw dad on the way thee telling him about the show being cancelled. Went inside, drank juice,water and Coke Zero and watch Just The Ticket which i only stayed for 2 sets as I had to leave early as I had to get up early for the breakfast with the stars next morning but they were FANTASTIC doing an mixture of 50's,60's and 70's which I enjoyed it. It was an good night in one way but disappointing in the other because of the cancellation.

Cooly rocks On 2011- Elvis Collectors Display

My first outing for Cooly Rocks on was going to the Elvis Collectors Display at the Tweed Ultima which it's on Stuart Street on Tuesday June 7th. I paid $2.00 to get in there and had an look around at the memorabilia of Elvis which has been collected by an guy called Rusty Roberts. Rusty has been collecting Elvis stuff for as long he could remember and it's just amazing all the stuff he has collected like CD's,books,Dvd's records, toys,posters and many others as well there was photos of Rusty with people who worked with Elvis like Jerry Schilling, Joe Eposito,Dj Fontana, Sam Phillips, Scotty moore, Sonny West, Red West and many others. it was just AMAZING & FANTASTIC and to look at all that stuff was just AWESOME. You could only at the stuff and the only thing you could touch was at the scrapbooks which had paper clippings,letters and magazine clippings as well. i met Rusty which he told me about the impact that Elvis has made on the culture and it's great to see someone like rusty collecting Elvis stuff. The collectors Display it's an must for any Elvis fan and if it's in your town be sure to see it as it's just Amazing.

Last Thursday I went to the Balmoral cinema to see the movie "Oranges and Sunshine". it's 1986 in Nottingham,England and social worker Margaret Humphreys (Emily Watson) meets an Australian lady name Charlotte (Federay Holmes) and another lady named Nicky (Lorraine Ashbourne) wanting to know who they really are and what happened as they were put away on an boat to Australia with many other children as they were told their parents had died and were put in institutions where they went through hard labour. Margaret goes to Australia where she meets Nicky's Brother jack(Hugo Weaving) as well as Len(David Wenham) and many others who went through similar experiences and Margaret starts to uncover an lot of stuff that happened to those children. It's sad,touching and an BRILLIANT movie with Brilliant acting by Emily Watson, Hugo Weaving, David Wenham, Lorraine Ashbourne, Federay Holmes as well as Tara Morice, Geoff Morrell, Marg Downey and others. it was filmed in Adelaide and Wirksworth,Derbyshire,England as well as Nottingham . It is directed by Jim Loach which it's his first film he has ever directed having worked on TV including Coronation Street and is the son of Director ken Loach whose been around since the 60's. it is based on the Book "Empty Cradles" by Margaret Humphreys which Rona Munro adapted it for the screen and it's just sad which you can feel for those people who went through an terrible ordeal and were forced to go on the boats to Australia & canada and of course in recent years both Kevin Rudd(Australian Prime Minster til 2010) and Gordon Brown(British Prime Minster) said sorry for the shameful child resettlement program. It's an Must for any Australian movie fan to see. i give this 5 stars and it's currently running in the cinemas.

On Saturday June 4th I went to the Balmoral cinema to see the movie "Source Code". Jake gyllenhaal plays an man who wakes up on an train ride that is going to Chicago and the woman sitting opposite him is Christina(Michelle Monaghan) who calls him sean but he does not know her or where and who he is. the train is blown apart by a bomb after leaving the train station and the man is in another reality which he is Colter Stevens an Army Officer who is taking part in an experimental project called the Source Code. Sean/Colter keep reliving the 8 minutes of his life which things change every time there's an rewind and is able to influence the events that is happening. He is controlled by Dr Rutledge(Jeffrey Wright) and Colleen Goodwin(Vera Farmiga) want him to identify the person who is putting the bomb on the train and to prevent an attack on chicago. it's an interesting and an excellent film with excellent acting by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan as well as Jeffery Wright,Vera Farmiga and the effects are excellent. Chris p bacon does the music, it;s produced by Mark Gordon,Jordan Wynn and Phillipe Rousselet and it's directed by Duncan Jones. i give this 4 stars

Buddy the Concert @ Kedron Wavell

On Friday July 15th Scott Cameron is Doing Buddy the Concert along with James Nation Ingle and Simon Bentley @ kedron Wavell Services Club. the show will be touring around Australia from July-December which also include another Queensland show @ Twin towns On December 17th. the show @ Kedron Wavell cost $35.00 and will have 2 sets which will include the classic Buddy holly hits like that'll be the Day, Peggy Sue, Oh boy, maybe Baby, it Doesn't Matter Anymore,Rave On, Heartbeat and many others as well as classic rock songs which should be great. Scott Cameron has been doing Buddy Holly for 6 years with the Memories Of Buddy Holly show as well as the Buddy musical back in 2009 and just 2 months ago the Class of 59 show with Aussie rock legend Lonnie Lee. It will be my 4th time seeing Scott and he does an excellent job doing Buddy Holly which it's great to see him doing an tribute as keeping the music alive. If you want to see him live CHECK It OUT and you will enjoy the show as it would bring back memories for the fans who lived in the era as well as people who were not born when Buddy was around liking the music.
