TANGIER by Billy Thorpe
It's finally here after all this time which it's been 3 years since Billy Thorpe passed away and after all the effort of getting it done the album "TANGIER" is finally out. The recording of this album began after going to Morocco in 2000 for his wife's 50th birthday and he felt connected spiritually and had spent seven years writing and recording the songs of the project and also it was in the raw stage with the half the vocals done when he passed away on February 28th 2007. With the help of music promoter Michael Chugg and Amanda Pelman who was one of the producers with Billy Thorpe on the Long Way To The Top concert in 2002 they resolved to continue it with the financial backing provided by Chuggie and Daniel Denholm who has produced acts like the Cruel Sea, Powderfinger and Megan Washington for the challenging task to eventually finish the album in keeping with Thorpie's vision so it's now finally here everyone. It's an BRILLIANT and an AWESOME album with 10 great tracks which sounded EXCELLENT and Thorpie at his peak vocally and musically. Michael Chugg and Amanda Pelman are the Executive Producers and Daniel Denholm the producer. I love the instrumentals Gypsy and Long Time which they are Great, Australian actor Jack Thompson narrates on A River Knows and In A New World, Ian Moss plays guitar on Tangier and Marrakech as well doing backing vocals with brian Cadd, Vanessa Amorosi and Melinda Schinder on "Since You've Been Gone", Mick Fleetwood played on the album as well as well joseph Tawadros and Mohamed Al Alaoui on Oud and Richard Tognetti on violin as well as Jackie Orsascky the Sydney jazz bassist who passed away a few years ago and members of the Moroccan Symphony Orchestra. i am going to give it 5 stars and it's out now so buy it as it's an MUST for any Australian music fan as well as fans of Billy Thorpe.
