Classic Albums Cliff Sings by Cliff Richard (1959)
For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1959 album Cliff Sings by Cliff Richard. This was his second album but his first studio album was Cliff which was live and it was recorded at Abbey Road Studios London from September 7th-9th 1959. It was released November 1959 which went to number 2 in the UK and it was produced by Norrie Paramour. This album had both rock and roll songs and traditional pop standards with the Shadows and the Norrie Paramour Orchestra doing the backing and great versions of Mean Woman Blues, Here Comes Summer, Blue Suede Shoes, Twenty Flight, That's My Desire and others as there were no hit singles from the album as in those times artists had hit singles first before making an album. It's an FANTASTIC album which holds up very well after all these years and still sounding great today as it did then with an great vocal performance by Cliff with great backing by the Shadows as well as the Norrie Paramour as the songs really suited Cliff's voice. It's still in the shops somewhere and be sure you buy which I'm sure you will be impressed with it.
