joe Bell

 On Saturday I went to the Events Cinema at Carindale where I saw Joe Bell. Joe Bell (Mark Wahlberg)  who has an son  named Jadin (Reid Miller) who is  gay and is getting bullied at school because  of him being gay. joe tells him how to defend for himself and nature will take it course but his wife Lola (Connie Britton) disagrees and assures her son that they love him which Joe eventually changes his attitude and will try to be a better person. Jadin continues getting harassed and tragically commits suicide  and Joe starts walking across  to raise awareness about bullying and makes speeches  and it gets interesting. it is touching, Fantastic and Brilliant with Fantastic acting by Mark Wahlberg, Reid Miller and Connie Britton and it was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and it was produced by Mark Wahlberg, Cary Foji Fukunaga, Riva Marker, Daniela Taplin Lundberg, Eva Marie Daniels, Ryan Aherns and Stephen Levinson. Gone Fishing by Slim Dusty

 This is a new compilation of the legendary Australian country singer Slim Dusty and the songs on this CD are fishing songs that he recorded over the years including The Frog, Nulla Creek, A Bad Day's Fishin, Another Night In Broome, Where I'd Sooner Be and many others as fishing was  Slim Dusty's past time and it was his downtime which he enjoyed it most. It's FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC songs which holds very well indeed and sounds great to this day.  This CD went to number 11 on the Australian charts recently and it is great that slim Dusty is still appreciated to this day as it's been 18 years since he passed away but the great music lives on. This is a must for Slim Dusty fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops so do yourselves a favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed.

 In her autobiography Helene talks about her upbringing in France as her  parents who were Russian and Polish were holocaust survivors,  emigrated to Australia at age 9, the passing of her father the following year, achieving success as a songwriter in 1960 with Barefoot Boy by Noeline Batley, doing acting and theatre agency, her 26 year relationship with jazz musician Serge Ermoll which she produced , managed and recorded several albums, launching Laughter Strategies and many others. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with impressive, funny, adventurous and  very entertaining stories and is worth a read for someone who has been around Australian  entertainment for over 60 years. Helene should be acknowledged as a pioneer of Australian music as she was the first Australian female songwriter to have a hit single and Noeline should be considered for an ARIA Hall Of Fame for her impact on Australian music. This is a must for Australian music fans and I give it 5...

Jungle Cruise

 On Sunday I went to the South Bank Cinema to see the movie Jungle Cruise. Lily (Emily Blunt) who is botanist in a male dominated filed goes on a mission along with her brother Macgregor (Jack Whitehall) to Brazil to look for the Tree and they meet Frank (Dwayne Johnson) who is a skipper doing jungle cruises  and goes on their mission  while Joachim (Jesse Plemons) who is also on a mission to find the Tree and it gets interesting. It's FANTASTIC, Action Packed, Very Funny and Very Entertaining with Great acting by Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Jack Whitehall and Jesse Plemons. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, John Fox and John Davis. I give it 4 stars as it's still in the cinemas now so do yourselves a favour and SEE IT which you will be amazed.   

Mr Luck-A Tribute To Jimmy Reed Live at the Royal Albert Hall by the Ronnie Wood Band

On November 1st 2013 Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood and his band performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London   doing an set  which was an tribute to American blues singer and guitarist Jimmy Reed  which Ronnie's band had Ex Rolling Stones member Mick Taylor along with special guests Paul Weller(The Jam), Bobby Womack and Mick Hucknall (Simply Red/The Faces) performed many of the Jimmy Reed songs like Honest I Do, Bright Lights Big City, baby What You Want me To Do, Ain't That Loving You Baby and many others and it is now out on CD which it is great to see. It is ROCKIN, AWESOME and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC songs with great playing and singing those classic Jimmy Reed songs which has stood the test of time . Ronnie is about to go on the road with the Rolling Stones in America  which the tour starts on the 26th and he also did the cover art which looks FANTASTIC. The Wait by Vika and Linda

 This is the new album by Australian sister act Vika and Linda and this was recorded at Woodstock Studios in  Melbourne April this year. The songs on the album written by people like Don Walker, Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning, Kasey Chambers and others and as I am reviewing the deluxe edition of the album it has a  live recording of their performance at the Myer Music Bowl on March 7th this year which they performed the  hit single  from the Black Sorrows Never Let me Go as well as an version of Bridge Over Troubled Water and Strange Things Happening Every Day the cover of the Sister Rosetta Tharpe song and others. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs with great singing  by Vika and Linda  which they are sounding great and singing better than ever. It should be an hit album  so let's hope to see it in the charts and if the Black Sorrows can do it I'm sure Vika and Linda which I know they can. It is produced by Steven Schram and ...

Memoirs of A Piano Man by John Charter

 This is the autobiography of Australian Pianist and musician John Charter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Kingsford (Sydney), started learning piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll band Alan Dale and the Houserockers, playing in his own trio, forming Johnny Rebb and The Rebels with Johnny Rebb who would achieve 6 top 40 hits from 1959-60 including Hey Sheriff and Pathway To Paradise, doing the Lee Gordon tours with the Everly brothers, Fabian , The Platters and Johnny Ray, doing Bandstand and Six O'Clock Rock, working with Slim Dusty, playing in the Sydney Club  and hotel Scene , forming his own group The John Charter Group, working in Vietnam and America with Digger Revell and many others.  This is the new album by Australian singer David Campbell and this has covers of classic songs including Saltwater(Julian Lennon), A Little Ray Of Sunshine (Axiom), How Deep Is Your Love (The Bee Gees), You Really Got A Hold On Me (The Miracles) and may others. It is an FANTASTIC album with FANTASTIC singing done by David as he  sings rock, soul, pop on this album and does it so very well.  It is produced by Joe Accaria  who plays drums on the album and it's just the band backing him no brass, no arrangements and no big theatrics. This album has gone to number 33 in Australia and let's hope it goes top 20 maybe top 10. I give it 4  stars and it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you'll love it.  

Saint George's Road by the Black Sorrows

 This is the new album by legendary Australian group the Black Sorrows and this was recorded at Woodstock Studios in Melbourne. It has all original songs written by Joe Camilleri and Nick Smith including the title track and the album I am reviewing is the autographed Collector's Edition has 5 bonus tracks. Among the musicians who play on this album are Wilbur Wilde who played with Joe in Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons and James Black from Mondo Rock. It is an FANTASTIC and an BRILLIANT album with FANTASTIC songs  with great playing by the band  and with great singing by Joe Camilleri who is singing better than ever and sounding great at age 73 which proves that older musicians can play and sing better  at any age. This should be an hit album  and it was produced by Peter Solley  who had worked with Joe Camilleri in Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons   who had produced the album Screaming Targets in 1979. I am giving this 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops...

 This is the memoir of American singer-songwriter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Chicago, first singing I Wanna Be Free the Monkees song as age 5, starting doing back up vocals for Lionel Richie, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, Julio Iglesias, Madonna, Fee Waybill etc, having success as a songwriter for Kenny Rogers and   Fee Waybill, achieving success in his own right with classics including Don't Mean Nothing, Hold On To the Nights, Should've Known Better, Right Here Waiting, Hazard and others, working with Joe Walsh, NSYNC, Natalie Cole, Keith Urban, Luther Vandross and others, his 2 marriages and many others. It is FANTASTIC,BRILLIANT and SUPERB with AWESOME, BRILLIANT and Impressive stories  talking the era as well as behind the scenes including the touring  and others even John Farnham gets mention which it is great to see.  This is the biography of Australian Singer and member of the iconic Australian band AC/DC Bon Scott and in this book  it talks  about his upbringing   in Scotland, coming to Australia as an boy, living in Melbourne and Perth, playing in an drum band, playing in the Spektors and the Valentines who would achieve success with the hit single My Old Man's A Groovy Old Man, playing in Fraternity and Mount Lofty Rangers and then the great success with AC/DC in 1974  who would have huge success in Australia and overseas with classic songs like Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, It's A Long Way To The Top, High Voltage, Baby Please Don't Go as well as albums like High Voltage, TNT, Let There Be Rock, Highway To Hell etc which would last until his passing in 1980. it is an FANTASTIC book  with FANTASTIC stories  with great research done by Jeff Apter who has done an great job  with this book and an great effort too doing an book on another AC/DC member. it ...

 This is the new album by Australian singer Rick Price and on this album it has mainly covers of classic soul songs by Ben E King, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Martha and the Vandellas etc as well as an original song  which he wrote with John Capek as an tribute to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin called Farewell But Not Goodbye. It is an FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT album with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT songs   as well as great singing by Rick who is sounding great as ever. He will be coming to Queensland in November. This is an must for Rick Price fans and I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed.
