End Of Year Rockabilly Party @ Morningside Services Club

On Saturday night December 29th i went to the Morningside Services club to see the End Of the year Rockabilly show put together by Lori Lee and it was the 6th time this year I have been to an Lori Lee rockabilly show which it was the first one @ Morningside since the Chop tops show on Sunday April 29th this year. The show started @ 8.15pm with the first of the 3 bands on the night called Los Trios Cardios who are an new band and did an FANTASTIC set doing original songs and covers including Shakin All over. there was an interval and then the Sugarshakers came on stage which they did an FANTASTIC set doing original songs and some covers with excellent singing by Emma and Brilliant guitar playing by Rupert as well as excellent drumming by Dean and bass playing by Toby and after their set I bought the 2 CD's of the Sugarshakers from Emma. The Rockin Bodgies @ Carina Leagues Club

On Friday night December 28th I went to Csrina Leagues CLub to see the Rockin Bodgies which it was my 10th time seeing them and it's sadly their last appearence @ Carina Leagues club due to circumstances beyond their control.the show started @ 8pm and For the next 3 and an half hours they did 4 sets of classic songs from the 50's and 60's as well as some country songs and they wore colourful clothes like 1 person wore pink, other wore green, other wore yellow etc and for some of the last Shaun was'nt on stage for a few minutes but came back on for the remaining few songs. The show finished @ 11.30pm and I thanked Shaun and Mike for the show. I saw Kathy Stephens an lady I worked with @ St Andrews and Peter and Dean as well and the show was excellent and everyone had an great time including myself. On Friday January 18th 2013 Legendary Australian singer Doug Parkinson known for hits like Dear Prudence, I'll Be Around, Everlasting Love, Without You etc will be performing @ Kedron Wavell Services Club starting @ 8pm and to those who have never seen Doug Parkinson live go and see him as he puts on an FANTASTIC show doing some of hits as well as other people's songs as well as telling some stories of his career.

Darren J ray Quartet @ Carina Leagues Club December 22nd 2012

On December 22nd 2012 I went to the Carina Leagues Club to see the Darren J ray Quartet which it was my 3rd time seeing as well as 2nd time this year as well as 17th time seeing Darren and 4th time this year. The show started @ 7.30pm which for the next 4 hours they 4 FANTASTIC sets doing songs from the 50's,60's,70's, 80's up to now and in some of the sets Darren, Kaitlyn,Scott and Fernando would put on Elvis sideburns and glasses as well as the dark glasses doing Pretty Woman as well as joining the line when they were doing Proud Mary and Darren walking through the audience with christmas bag and also even sang an few christmas songs in the set which was great and suited to the time period. Crossfire Hurricane is the documentary about legendary British rock band the Rolling Stones that is out on DVD. In this DVD all the members of the Stones are interviewed and talk about the beginnings as young obsessed blues fans in early 60's England to become the Greatest Rock N Roll Band in the world as well as talking about Andrew Loog Oldham, the bad boy image, Brian Jones as well as Brian's death, the drug busts, Altamont,tax exiles, Mick Taylor joining the group as well as leaving, Ron Wood joins and many others. On Sunday December 16th I went to Kedron Wavell to see the King The Killer and the Big show promoted by Matman Promotions and it was my 4th time seeing Gabe Phoenix(2nd time this year), Ezra Lee(3rd time but had not seen him live since Saturday June 12th 2010 @ Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club during the Last Wintersun @ Coolangatta) and gerard O'Donoghue 7th time but 2nd time this year. The show started @ 2pm with gabe Phoenix first on stage doing the classic Elvis presley songs wearing the black leather gear that Elvis wore @ the 1968 comeback special and did an FANTASTIC set which he would walk through the crowds shaking hands including mine and the ladies kissing and hugging him as well. Then was an interval where I bought an picture of Gabe Phoenix and then Ezra Lee came on which he did an FANTASTIC set doing the Jerry Lee Lewis stuff looking an lot trimmer and playing great. The Beach Boys Live In Concert is out on DVD. The concert was filmed in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the Beach Boys 50th anniversary world tour as the surviving members Brian Wilson, AL Jardine, Mike Love, David Marks and Bruce Johnston got back together and recorded the album That's Why God Made the Radio which went to number 3 in the USA. On this DVD they perform 21 songs which includes the classic hits from the 60's,70's and 80's, album cuts and some of the new songs from the new album. It's an AWESOME,ROCKIN and an BRILLIANT live DVD and it just rocks which the group sounds great live and playing great too. the Avengers Show @ Easts Leagues December 9th 2012

On Sunday December 9th I went to Easts LEagues Club to see Brisbane group the Avengers which it was my 9th time seeing them as well as my 7th time this year and until Sunday had not seen them since Saturday June 23rd . I had lunch @ the club before the show which I had Beef Nachos and actually saw Roger, Paul and Graeme which he told me that his gear was in Mick's car as he was waiting for it. the show started @ 1pm and for the next 4 hours they performed classic songs by Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Buddy Holly, the Monkees, Roy Orbison, Chuck berry as well as an few different songs and many others. In the last set they did the Eagles song Take It Easy for me which was great and I really appreciated that. the Dominoes 50th Anniversary show

On Friday December 7th 2012 I went to the redlands Multi Sports Club to see legendary Brisbane group the Dominoes who celebrated 50 years when they were formed in September 1962 and it was my 3rd time seeing them as my first @ was @ Wintersun in the MArquee on Wednesday June 6th 2007 and the Old ROckers get Together @ Riverside Ballroom New Farm on Sunday march 27th 2011. It was there in 2011 when Darryl wright the drummer mentioned that 2012 was going to be the 50th anniversary when the group were formed and an show was going to happend and I asked Darryl and Mike Steiner about it on MArch 25th this year @ New Farm which they were planning it for September @ Nundah Memorial Hall but did'nt happend. Skyfall

On Tuesday December 4th I went to the Myer Center Cinema to see the movie Skyfall. James Bond(Daniel Craig) is almost killed while doing an assignment in Turkey and goes into hiding. Meanwhile M16 office is attacked by Roal Silva an ex-M16 (Javier Bardem) as revenge to get back at the agency for betraying as well as discredit,humilate and kill M(judy Dench) and having fake his death to retire Bond returns to investigate the attack and it gets interesting and action packed. It's an excellent movie with excellent acting by Daniel Craig who does an excellent performance as James Bond, Judy Dench which this film is her last as M, Javier Bardem as the villian, Ralph Finnes as Gareth Mallory, Naomi Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Albert Finney as Kincade and others. In this book she talks about the loss of sister Marigold, up bringing in Chartwell, joining the ATS Services mixed anti barriers during World War 2, the annoucement of the second World War which shatters her world, beginning to share the burden of anxieties ands stress of the family, her father becoming British Prime Minster in 1940 until 1945, her devastation of her father's defeat @ the 1945 General Election and many others. Classic Albums-Diamantina Cocktail Little River Band

This week's classic album segment I am looking at the 1977 album by legendary Australian rock group Little River Band called Diamantina Cocktail. This was the group's 3rd album which was recorded @ Armstrong Studios in Melbourne and it was released in May 1977 which went to number 2 in Australia and in the USA it went to number 49 which was the international breakthrough for the group which it went gold and also that some of the tracks on the American version of the album were from the After Hours album. From the Australian version it had the 3 hit singles-Help On It's Way, Home on a Monday and Witchery and from the American version had Help On it's Way and Happy anniversary. Suzi Quatro Tribute Show @ Carina Leagues CLub

On Saturday november 24th I went to Carina Leagues Club to see the Suzi Quatro Tribute show which had Brandi and the Badcats and it was my 1st time seeing that show in brisbane as I have seen that show twice down the Gold Coast @ Coolangatta first @ Wintersun on Sunday June 8th 2008 and last year @ Cooly Rocks On Saturday June 11th 2011 and both were FANTASTIC. The show started @ 8pm and for the next 2 and an half hours Brandi and the band belted the classic Suzi Quatro's songs with Reno's brilliant guitar playing, Stephen's guitar playing was excellent too with Julian's excellent drumming and keyboards by David and it was the 2nd time this month I've seen Brandi as I saw with the Badcats doing the rockabilly stuff 2 weeks before. On Friday November 23rd I went to QPAC Concert Hall to see Class of 69 which it's an tribute to the ladies of 60's and this featured legendary Australian singer Little Pattie which it was my 7th time seeing her live. I caught the bus to South Brisbane which I got the QPAC @ about 7pm, bought an poster and an CD of Bec Laughton, had an drink of water, went inside and waited. the show started @ 8pm with Little Pattie came on stage and for the more 40 minutes doing an set of classic songs from the 60's as well as 2 of her famous hits from the 60's He's My Blonde Headed Stompie Wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy and Stompin At maroubra and also told some stories of her career.
