Classic Albums- Teaser and the Firecat Cat Stevens

For this week's classic segment let's have a look at the 1971 by british singer-songwriter Cat Stevens called Teaser and the Firecat. the recording of that album was held @ Morgan Studios in London in March 1971 and it was released on October 1st 1971 which it went to number 1 in Australia where it stayed there for 15 weeks, number 2 in the USA, UK, Canada and number 25 in New Zealand which it went Gold in the UK and 3 times Platinum in the USA. the album was produced by Paul Samwell Smith who had been the bass player in the legendary British 60's rock group the Yardbirds and had already produced Cat's other albums Mona Bone Jakon and Tea for the Tillerman and after this album Catch Bull Four in 1972 and from this album it had 3 hit singles Morning Has Broken, Moon Shadow and Peace Train and it was also the name of a children's book that he had written and illustrated which it had the title characters from the album top hatted young Teaser and his pet Firecat. The book was published in 1972 and since the mid 70's it has been out of print. It is a great album with great songs which holds up very well today as well as those 3 hits that still gets play to this day which it's great to see and actually this album was the biggest album in Australia in 1972 and also it was at the height of singer-songwriter era where Cat Stevens was at the top of his game of that great success. Just a few days ago Cat Stevens was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame which he truly deserves it for the impact he made on the music scene and this album is one of his best albums he made. This album is still in the shops and be sure to listen to it.
