Wendy Matthews @ Royal Hotel Nundah

Yesterday afternon I went to see legendary Australian singer Wendy Matthews at the Royal Hotel Nundah which it was my 4th time seeing her live and I caught the train from Central to Nundah which I then walked up the road to the hotel which it was first time I visited the hotel. The show had already started when I arrived with support act Beth Lucas an local country singer-songwriter was doing her set which she did an excellent set and sounded great. There was an short interval which I used my mobile and then at 2.40pm Wendy Matthews came out which for the next hour and 20 minutes performed her hits from the 90's as well as some covers as well as telling some stories which before she did the song Little Boy she told an story abut her dog that she had for years as well as being sold out which the crowds sang along and enjoying themselves. This is the new album by legendary Australian country singer-songwriter John Williamson and it was recorded at LWM Studio on the Gold Coast which he wrote all the songs on the album as well as producing it as among the musicians who played on the album were Gus Fenwick on bass, Doug Gallacher on Drums and Lindsay Waddington on guitar, bass and banjo as well as John's wife Meg on backing vocals on 3 tracks and his daughter Ami on 1 track. On May 29th 1984 American singer Tina Turner released her 5th solo album Private Dancer which was her first with Capitol Records which went to number 3 in the USA pop charts, number 1 in the USA R&B charts, number 2 in the UK and number 7 in Australia and from the album had the singles What's Love Got To Do With It, Let's Stay Together, Help, Better Be Good To Me, Private Dancer, I Can't Stand The Rain and Show Some Respect which it now out again as it is the 40th anniversary edition which I am reviewing the double CD ecition. This morning I saw on Facebook an posting from Len Austin who was from the Brisbane groups Red Caps, The Dominoes, The Planets and the Sounds of Seven that Brian Gagen who played with Len in the Planets passed away yesterday which I shocked to see that. Brian Gagen was born March 7th 1942, started learning to play saxophone at age 6, played in the Rhythm Rockers which was formed in about 1956 with Nev Findlay, Lyle Glenn, Kevin Dent and His brother as they played at the Osborne Hotel in Sandgate and Brian was with the Rhythm Rockers until the winter of 1958 when he joined an rock group called the Hucklebucks who were formed the year before which had Alan Reid, Johnny Pal(Pickering), Rob Richards(Bobby Rich) and John Reid which the 4 of them including Brian were with the Hucklebucks until they left Easter 1959. Brian, Robb, Johnny, John and Rob Tonge formed the Planets which they played their very first show at the Nundah Memorial Hall Friday May 22nd 1959 and it was the start of...

Last night I went to the Redland Performing Arts Center where I saw the show Rebecca O'Connor "Simply The Best" As Tina Turner Show which it was my first time seeing the show, Caught bus to Cleveland from Carindale, bought Coke With No Sugar from Coles, drank it and went to the Cleveland Sands Hotel where I had Steak, Chips and Salad for dinner, drank Coke With No Sugar and for desert had Chocolate Brownie which I waited half an hour for it, paid my meal, walk to the Redland Performing Arts Center, went inside and use mobile. This is from the Telegraph March 11th 1976 and until 1992 when it became 4TAB which is now Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's Top radio stations at the time in the 70's which they use to do the 4IP Rock Group of the Year awards as Brisbane groups competed in the awards which was held at the Festival Hall as in the grand final whoever one won it would get an recording contract with Phonogram, $2500 in Cash and $500 dollars worth of New equipment and also on March 14th iconic Australian rock band AC/DC performed there at the Semi Finals.
