4BK Top 10 April 1964

This is from the Telegraph April 15th 1964 and this was the 4BK Top 10 with the Beatles at number 1 with All My Lovin, The Beatles at number 2 with their version of the Chuck Berry song Roll Over Beethoven with George Harrison on lead vocals, Acker Bilk at number 3 with The Harem, The Beatles at number 4 with I Saw Her Standing There which was from the Please Please Me album, The Searchers who are about to do another Farewell UK tour at number 5 with their version of the Jackie De Shannon song written by Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono Needles and Pins, The Four Seasons at number 6 with Dawn, The Dave Clark Five at number 7 with Bits and Pieces, The Beach Boys at number 8 with Hawaii which was from the Surfer Girl album, the Beach Boys at number 9 with Fun Fun Fun and the Four Seasons at number 10 with their version of the Maurice Williams and the Zodiac 1960 Stay which British group the Hollies had an number 8 hit with in 1963.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

Memoirs of A Piano Man by John Charter

 This is the autobiography of Australian Pianist and musician John Charter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Kingsford (Sydney), started learning piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll band Alan Dale and the Houserockers, playing in his own trio, forming Johnny Rebb and The Rebels with Johnny Rebb who would achieve 6 top 40 hits from 1959-60 including Hey Sheriff and Pathway To Paradise, doing the Lee Gordon tours with the Everly brothers, Fabian , The Platters and Johnny Ray, doing Bandstand and Six O'Clock Rock, working with Slim Dusty, playing in the Sydney Club  and hotel Scene , forming his own group The John Charter Group, working in Vietnam and America with Digger Revell and many others.
