4BC April 1965

This is from the Northern Suburbs Express April 21st 1965 and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's top music radio stations at the time in the 60's which among their disc jockeys was Johnny James who had been with the station since the 1950's did the Breakfast Show daily doing the Top 40, Time Calls, the Weather Reports and the News.

This is from the Telegraph April 19th 1974 and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 70's which besides being a music station which it still was at the time the station promoted shows which on Friday April 26th 1974 4BC promoted a show at the City Hall which had the Ormsby Brothers who had a hit with their version of the Lesley Gore 1964 hit You Don't Own Me, La De Das and Band Of Light.

4IP April 1965

This is from the Sunday Truth April 18th 1965 and until 1992 when it became 4TAB which it is now Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's as it was starting to make inroads in Brisbane as it was originally from Ipswich which among their shows was called The Happy Time Show which was on Monday to Friday at 10.35am that was hosted by Russ Dore.

Jokers and Queens Jon English and Marcia Hines

In July 1982 the album Jokers and Queens by Australian singers Jon English and Marica Hines was released which it went to number 36 in Australia and the title track from the album was released as a single went to number 62 on the Australian charts as well as the other 2 tracks were written as well as the title track were written by Jon English and Charlie Hull who also produced the album and the other 3 were covers including You've Lost That Lovin Feeling and also it is now out on CD. Besides the original tracks that was released on the album there is a bonus track called the Best Of Me. It is FANTASTIC with great songs which they sound great today as it did back then and it holds up very well this day which as I said great music endures. 5150 Van Halen

On March 24th 1986 iconic American rock band Van Halen released the album 5150 which it went to number 1 in the USA, number 16 in the UK and number 5 in Australia which it was the first album for lead singer Sammy Hagar who replaced original lead singer David Lee Roth and had been in a well known group in American called Montrose and from the album it had the hit singles Why Can't This Be Love, Dreams, Love Walks In and Best Of Both Worlds which was produced by the band, Mick Jones from the band Foreginer and Donn Landee and also it is out on CD again as it is 40 years since the album came out. On the double CD that I am reviewing it has the original tracks on the first CD which was on the album and the 2nd CD it has rarities including 3 live recordings as well as the extended versions of 2 songs. This is from the Telegraph April 17th 1974 and until 1992 when it became 4TAB which it is now Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 70's which besides from being an music station the station also promoted other events which included the Rotary Jumbo Fair which was held at New Farm Park on April 27th and 28th as there was a Grand Parade, Stalls, Sideshows, Stage show, Bingo and Fireworks.

4KQ April 1963

This is from the Sunday Truth April 14th 1963 and long before known as the Good Times Great Classic Hits station as well as for a time in the 80's as a country music station 4KQ was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which they were a music station back then which on that Sunday and Monday in 1963 as it was broadcast live from the Gold Coast with Easter Cavalade at the Chevron Hotel in Surfers Paradise with disc jockeys David Johnston and Robyn Shepherd on the Sunday from 10.30am until 1pm and Monday from 9.15am until 2pm with Music and Fun.

4IP April 1969

This is from the Sunday Truth April 13th 1969 and until 1992 when it became 4TAB which it is now Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's as it was originally based in Ipswich but was making inroads in Brisbane by then which among their disc jockeys was Bily J Smith who would become a great success on TV including Sportsworld, It's A Knockout and the Brisbane version of the Footy Show did the Breakfast show Monday to Saturday from 5am until 9am.

4BC April 1966

This is from the Telegraph April 12th 1966(60 Years Ago today) and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's top music radio stations at the time in the 60's which among their disc jockeys were Geoff Atkinson, Tony MacArthur and Graeme (Bob) Smith who had joined the station early that year when Bob Wills left to join 4BK which is now B105 who were on daily from 4pm until midnight which they had a competition which was the Beatles movie Help as the listners would win 100 dollars wardrobe from Fifi's Fashion Bar, 100 dollars Youth's Outfit from the Clothes Peg and the tickets for the 4BC Preview of Help which was to be shown at Regent Theatre on Saturday April 23rd 1966 at 8am.

The Deb

This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema Carindale to see the new Australian movie The Deb. Mevea (Charlotte MacInnes) who attends an girls school in Sydney is expelled after bearing her breasts and goes to a country town called Dunburn where her cousin Taylah Simpkin(Natalie Abbott) who helps on the farm lives with her father Rick(Shane Jacobson) who is the Mayor of the town and Taylah signs up for the Deb (debutant ball) which Mavea and Taylah meet after many years which Mavea puts the ball down as well as the town but eventually fits in which Taylah wants to find a date and there is interesting people in the town including Janette (Rebel Wilson) who is a hairdresser who also manages The Pixie Cups amd Shell (Tara Morice) who is charge of the Deb who knows Rick and it gets interesting. It is FANTASTIC, Very Impressive and Very Entertaining with great music despite some words in the songs with FANTASTIC acting by Shane Jacobsen, Tara Morice, Rebel Wilson who also directed it as wel...

Man On The Run (Soundtrack album) Paul McCartney

This is the soundtrack album from the documentary about Paul McCartney's 2nd and successful band after the Beatles Wings as well as being an compilations of the songs he did with Wings as well as solo work which includes Mull Of Kintyre, Coming Up and Band On The Run and an demo version of Silly Love Songs as well as song called Gotta Sing Gotta Dance which was from the special he did in 1973 called James Paul McCartney. It is AWESOME, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT songs which still sound today as it did back then and holds up very well to this day as great music endures. It went to number 35 in the UK and Paul McCartney as we know has a new album coming out next month The Boys of Dungeon Lane as well as has just 2 shows at the Fonda Theatre in LA 2 weeks ago. It's a must for Paul McCartney and Wings fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so please do yourselves a favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

This is from the Telegraph April 10th 1959 and now the classic hits station here in Brisbane in 2026 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the late 50's which besides being an music station it use to do other shows which among them was the Coca Cola Bottlers Club which was compered by Allan Brandt who had been on 4KQ and later worked on 4IP which it was broadcast Saturday April 11th 1959 at the Mt Gravatt RSL Hall at 10.30am.

Hoppers

This afternoon I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo to see the movie Hoppers. In Beavertown Mabel (Piper Curda) who has spent her childhood with her grandmother (Karen Huie) who teaches her respect about nature and listen to the sounds of the forest and she grew up studying at University which she also appreciates the nature and continues to go the Glade but then is aware that the Mayor Jerry Generazzo(Jon Hamm) plans to repalce the Glade with a freeway Mabel tries to get a petition to save it but it doesn't work whuchg leads her to neglect her studies and also is told that the teachers have been doing a thing called Hoppers which is for a human consciousness to experience robotic life as a animal and experience that life and Mabel turns into a beaver to save the glade and gets friendly with an fellow beaver George (Bobby Moynihan) who is the Mammal King as well as the other animals adn also it gets interesting. This is the compilation of legendary American band War with British singer Eric Burdon from the iconic British band The Animals and it has the hit single Spill The Wine as well as tracks from the first 2 albums with Eric on it as well as the unedited remix of Spill The Wine as well as the live recording of Paint It Black and it has 3 unreleased recordings that was from the Avenue vaults as Eric was with them from 1969-71. It is FANTASTIC with FANTASTIC songs which holds up very well and had stood the test of time which you hear Spill The Wine on the radio which it's still played to this day. The band with original member Lonnie Jordan are still performing mainly in America as well as some shows in Europe in May and Lonnie along with Jerry Goldstein who produced their recordings and Jeremy Levine produced the CD. This is a must for fans of War and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so please do yourselves a favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Faith George Michael

On October 30th 1987 British singer George Michael who had come from the successful duo Wham who had broken up in 1986 released his very first solo album Faith which went to number 1 in the USA and the UK and number 3 in Australia and from the album it had the 4 number 1 singles the title track Faith, Father Figure, One More Try and Monkey and it is now out on CD again. Besides from the original songs that were on album the bonus track I Want to Your Sex which was the Monogamy Mix. It is an FANTASTIC album with FANTASTIC songs which has stood the test of time and holds up very well to this day. It will be 10 years this December when George Michael passed away but the great music he made with Wham as well as his solo career lives on. It's a must for George Michael fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so please do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

The Drama

This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema Carindale where I saw the movie The Drama. Charlie (Robert Pattinson) encounters Emma(Zendaya)at a cafe which she was reading a book and they start to date which they get engaged 2 years later they planned their wedding but then during a conversation with Mike (Mamoudou Athie) and his wife Rachel(Alana Haim) which they tell their secrets Emma reveals that she had planned to do a school shooting which led to her deafness and the relationship is strained which then it gets interesting. It is gripping and impressive with excellent acting by Zendaya, Robert Pattison, Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates and Sydney Lemmon. It was directed by Kristoffer Borgil who also wrote it and produced by Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campellone. I give it 4 stars as it's in the cinemas now and please do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

EPIC Elvis Presley In Concert CD

This is the soundtrack album of the EPIC (Elvis Presley In Concert) documentary film that was directed by Baz Luhrmann and it has the songs that was featured in the movie including Polk Salad Annie, Tiger Man, You've Lost That Feelin, Burning Love, Love Me, In the Ghetto, Suspicious Minds and many others. It is an FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT album with FANTASTIC songs which sounded great and the sound quality is FANTASTIC which it is well worth listening too. It went to number 17 in the UK, number 1 in the UK Soundtrack charts and number 6 in the USA Soundtrack albums charts and it is great to see that the interest in Elvis Presley is still there considering his passing nearly 49 years ago but the great music lives on and it will never die. This is a must for Elvis Presley fans and I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

The Accidental Francis Rossi

This is the latest solo album by Status Quo member Francis Rossi and this was recorded and mixed at ARSIS which the songs are on the album are written by Francis which was mainly with Bob Young on 2 songs,7 with Hiran Ilangantiike including 1 with Andy Brook, 2 with Andy Brook, 1 written by Michael Kitchen and Emlyn Price, 1 with Any Newhouse-Smith and 1 by Francis himself and amongst the musicians who played on the album is Status Quo bandmates John Edwards and Leon Cave. It is an excellent album with great songs with great singing by Francis who is still sounding great at age 76 and Francis is doing shows in Ireland, Norway, Holland, Denmark and Germany this month and May and the UK from September until November and also let's hope he comes to Australia one day. This is a must for Status Quo fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

The A's, The B's and the Monkees

This is the new compilation by iconic American rock group the Monkees and this is an double CD which the 1st one is the singles that were released on Colgems from 1966-70 which includes Last Train To Clarksville, I'm A Believer, Pleasant Valley Sunday and Daydream Believer with the second CD that has the b sides which includes I'm Not Your Stepping Stone, The Girl I Knew Somwhere, Words, Goin Down and Tapicoa Tundra as well as the booklet written by Andrew Sandoval who wrote a book about the Monkees called The Monkees The Day By Day Story and also has the seesions about played on the recordings. It's FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC and AWESOME songs which has stood the test of time and still sounding great today as it did back then as great songs endures. This year is 60 years when the Monkees came on the scene as well as the TV series started and Mickey Dolenz who is the last surviving Monkee is currently touring America celebrating the Monkees called 60 Years of ...

Gone Bush Slim Dusty

This is the new compilation by iconic Australian country singer Slim Dusty and this isthe one that has songs about the bush and the people in it which among them including 2 live recordings of Gumtrees By The Roadway in 1996 and I'm Going Back Again to Yarrawonga in 1997 as well as other songs including Australian Bushmen, Where Country Is, Somewhere Up In Queensland and the Man From Snowy River and many others. It is FANTASTIC with FANTASTIC songs which they still sound great today as it did back then as great music lives on. Slim's son David Kirkpatrick did the liner notes for the CD and it's been nearly 23 years since the passing of Slim Dusty but the great music he made lives on forever and it will live on. This is an must for Slim Dusty fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves a favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

FM 104 Rock Album Top 15 Charts April 1986

This is from the Telegraph April 3rd 1986(40 Years ago) and this was the FM 104 Rock Top 15 Album Charts with Dire Straits at number 1 with Brothers In Arms, Phil Collins at number 2 with No Jacket Required, The Cars at number 3 with Greatest Hits, Fine Young Cannibals at number 4 with the self titled album and the Rolling Stones at number 5 with Dirty Work. The new entries in the charts that week were INXS at number 14 with Listen Like Thieves and the Hoodoo Gurus at number 15 with Mars Needs Guitars and besides from INXS and the Hoodoo Gurus the other Australian acts that were on the charts that week were Mental As Anything member Martin Plaza at number 8 with Plaza Suite and Jimmy Barnes at number 12 with For The Working Class Man.
