Power To The People John & Yoko Live in NYC
Tonight I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo where I saw the concert movie Power To The People John & Yoko Live In NYC. On August 30th 1972 John Lennon and Yoko/Plastic Ono Band with Elephant's Memory and Special Guest peformed 2 shows at New York's Madison Square Garden to a combined audience of 40,000 people to raise money for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities which was over 1.5 miliion dollars and it was the only full length concert that John with Yoko peformed after the Beatles broke up and it was originally filmed by Steve Gebhart who was a multi camera Director and it is now restored, re-edited and remixed. Among the songs the was performed at the show were Mother, Imagine, Born In Prison, Come Together and Give Peace A Chance which Stevie Wonder, Melanie, Phil Spector and others came on stage which they were backed by Elephant's Memory as well as Jim Keltner on drums. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with great music and an great sound and also the quality was also FANTASTIC which there was great split screens in parts of the songs which was great to see as it is a great effort. It is directed by Simon Hilton, edited by Ben Wainwright-Pearce and produced by Peter Worsley and Sean Ono Lennon(son of John and Yoko) who also did music production and it was also mixed and engineered by Paul Hicks son of Hollies member Tony Hicks and Sam Gannon. This is a must for John Lennon fans and I give it 4 stars as it will be back in cinemas on Sundays so please do yourselves a favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
