4BH August 1954

This is from the Telegraph August 20th 1954 and now the classic hits station in Brisbane in 2026 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 1950's which among their shows that was on Saturdays were Saturday Morning Sing Song that was on at 8am, Rambling In Rhythm at 10.30am with Johnny James who went to great success with 4BC which he would be there until the early 70's and at 11.30am the Road Ahead which was the session for Motorists.

This is from the Telegraph August 18th 1955 and now the classic hits station here in Brisbane in 2026 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations in the 1950's which among their disc jockeys was Bob Rogers who had been with 4BH since 1950 as he would be there until 1957 which would then go to great success on Sydney radio was on at 8.30pm doing the show Mood For Love.

This is from the Telegraph August 15th 1966(60 Years ago) and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's top music radio stations at the time in the 60's which among their disc jockeys were Geoff Atkinson, Tony MacArthur and Graeme Smith (Bob) who were on daily from 4pm until midnight playing the music that was around at the time and there was a competition at that time which a couple would go out with Geoff, Tony and Bob along with Australian singer Billy Thorpe down the Gold Coast for music, dancing and dining at Mardi Grass Room New Broadbeach Hotel.

This is from the Telegraph August 14th 1963 and this was the 4BK Top 10 charts with Jan and Dean at number 1 with the song written by Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys) and Jan Berry Surf City, Kyo Sakamoto at number 2 with Sukiyaki, Rob EG aka Robie Porter at number 3 with 55 Days at Peking, Gerry and the Pacemakers at number 4 with the song written by Mitch Murray who had written How Do You Do It, The Surfaris at number 5 with Wipeout, Cliff Richard at number 6 with his version of the 1957 hit for Ruth Brown an American R&B singer written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller Lucky Lips, Elvis Presley at number 7 with Devil in Disguise, Johnny O'Keefe at number 8 with You'll Never Cherish A Love So True, The Shadows at number 9 with Atlantis and Del Shannon at number 10 with his version of the Beatles hit From Me To You.

This is the biography of legendary Australian rock band Australian Crawl written by Jeff Apter and in the book talks the members' different backgrounds, the formation of Australian Crawl in 1978, began recording for EMI which they would achieve great success with classics including Beautiful People, Downhearted, Boys Light Up, Errol, Reckless as well as albums including the Boys Light Up, Sirocco and Sons of Beaches, touring Australia as well as trying to crack America, the passing of Guy McDonough in 1984, the break up in 1986 and many others. It is AWESOME, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT stories as well as sad, very impressive and very entertaining and it is well worth a read. Jeff Apter who has written books about George, Angus and Malcolm Young(AC/DC), Carl Perkins, The Finn Brothers as well as co written autobiographies of Kasey Chambers, Mark Evans from AC/DC and Richard Clapton has done an FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT job doing this book and 3 of the survivi...

Holy Days

This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema to see the movie Holy Days. Brian Collins (Ethan Tamati) who has trouble accepting his new stepmother Liz (Nat Boltt) after his mother Paula (Renaye Tamati) passed away and has been going to the convent where he helps the nuns Sister Agnes(Judy Davis), Sister Luke(Miriam Margolyes) and Sister Mary Claire (Jacki Weaver) as well as wanting go to a mountain that has a connection with his mother and then Father Findlay (Jonny Brugh), Bishop Chaytor (John Bach) and Harry Greaves(Colin Moy) are planning to have the convent bulldozed and the nuns to be put in a retirement home which the Sisters Agnes, Luke and Mary Claire along with Brian go around New Zealand to get to Patricia who was Paula's aunty (Taneka Heke) to get the deeds and it gets interesting. This is from the Sunday Truth August 9th 1970 and until 1992 when it became 4TAB which it is now Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the early 70's having been an Ipswich station for many years but by the mid 60's was starting to make a impact in Brisbane was promoting free shows at the Exhibition at that in 1970 which was on Monday to Saturday from 6.30pm until 7.30pm with Normie Rowe, Johnny Young, Ronnie Burns, Geoff Phillips, Jon Blanchfield, Janelle and the Beaumen, Burke and Wills which had Jamie Dunn, The Light an Brisbane band who were the joint winners of the 1970 Queensland Pop Festival and the 4IP Good Guys.

Little Miss Twain by Shania Twain

This is the new album by Canadian singer Shania Twain and she wrote all the songs that is on the album mainly co written with different people including Ray Parker Jr on one track, Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones on one track and one with David Paich from the iconic American band Toto and she wrote the title track herself which legendary American singer Tanya Tucker sings on it as well as 5 others tracks herself and also among the musicians that played on the album were bassist Nathan East, T Bone Burnett and Gregg Bissonette. It is an FANTATSIC album with FANTASTIC songs with great singing by Shania which she is sounding great on the album and is singing better than ever as she will be 61 on August 28th. This is from the Telegraph August 6th 1959 and until 1990 when it became B105 4BK was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 1950's which among their shows was the talent show National Amateur Hour which was hosted by Dick Fair which was on every Thursday night at 8pm and there were 12 performers from Queensland on the show which they may win a trip to Sydney as well as an appearance on the show and Australia wide audition.

This is from the Telegraph August 5th 1964 and until 1990 when it became B105 4BK was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which at the time in August 1964 4BK had 5 new studios which was on the 3rd floor of Newspaper House which was in the city on Queen Street which had music, news and drama and on August 6th 4BK did the coverage of the Royal Show (The Ekka) which was presented by George Hardman with interviews, Show Result and News Flashes.

This is from the Sunday Truth later becoming the Sunday Sun August 4th 1963 and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which among their shows was the Top 40 Night Show which was on Monday to Friday at 8pm with Saturday at 7.15pm as 4BC was the first Brisbane radio station to do the Top 40 which they did that on Monday May 19th 1958 as it was a big thing in music at that time.

This is from the Telegraph August 3rd 1963 and now the classic hits station here in Brisbane in 2026 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the early 60's which among their disc jockeys were Bill Gates who was the one who gave the Bee Gees their name as well as doing the record hops around Brisbane including the O'Connor Boathouse which was in North Quay and Ben Beckinsale who later became the program director of the station did the Top 40 Hit Parade that included cash and prizes that was on daily at 7pm starting Monday August 5th 1963.

Greazefest 2026

Today I went to the Cleveland Showground for the rockabilly festival Greazefest which it has been 18 years since I first went there when it was at West End. I caught the bus to Cleveland, walk to the show grounds, texted Dad, saw Simon from Sonic Sherpa telling me that the records I ordered are there, went inside and Saw Roslynn Lovejoy and Ray. The first act I saw today were Lovejoy Surf who are always one of my favourite acts that I love seeing at Greazefest which has Kylie Lovejoy on bass, her father Arnold who is an well known on the Brisbane scene since the late 50's early 60's on guitar, Jeff Lovejoy also on guitar and Danny Murphy came on stage and in their set performed songs by the Shadows, The Atlantics, The Rolling Stones, The Ventures and many others with great musicianship as well as getting the audience entertained with Kylie doing the talking mentioning about making an album which they have not done yet but I Hope they do as it would be great to listen to. This is from the Telegraph August 1st 1958 and now the talk back station as it is the only comemrcial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the late 50's which among their disc jockeys were Geoff Atkinson who would be a part of the station's success in the 50's and 60's which on the Monday August 3rd 1958 he compered the opening of The Radio Record Bar at 8.45am and it was presented by Music Masters.

The Autobiography Rusty Egan

This is the autobiography of British musician and DJ Rusty Egan and in the book he talks about his upbringing in Ireland, moving to England before he turned 6, served at St Vincents, got his first drum at aged 15, playing in his father's band, working for DJM and WEA Records, formed the Rich Kids in 1977 which they lasted a year and had 1 hit single, formed Visage in 1978 which they had 3 albums and hit singles including Fade To Grey and Mind Of A Toy, working on the club circuit as an DJ, co founded Camden Palace, encounters with Mick Jones and Madonna and many others. It's FANTASTIC as well as very impressive and very entertaining which it is well worth a read and he is still DJing as well as making music. This is a must for 70's and 80's music fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so please do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
