the Party Aint Over by Wanda Jackson



The new album by Us rockabilly legend Wanda jackson known for her hits back in nthe 50's & 60's including "Let's have an Party", Mean mean Man, Cool Love, Fujiyama Mama, baby Loves Him etc was released an month ago and it's called the party Aint over. this was Wanda's first studio album in 5 years since the Elvis tribute album and this album has 11 tracks including "Shakin All Over" originally covered by Johnny Kidd and The Pirates an English rock group back in 1960, Australian rock & later country singer Johnny Chester did an version in 1962 with Melbourne instrumental group the Thunderbirds playing on it and also Normie ROwe had an double A sided Australian number 1 hit with it in 1965, Nervous Breakdown an Eddie Cochran song which he did recorded it in 1958 and Aussie rocker Merv Benton had an Top 40 hit in melbourne in 1964 which the group The Strangers played on it, Rip it Up which Bill Haley and Little did it in 1956 and Wanda recorded it in 1963, Thunder on the Mountain an bob Dylan song, Blue Yodel 6 an Jimmie Rodgers song, the amy Winehouse song I Know You're No Good, Rum and Coca Cola and others. it's an impressive and an very good album with Wanda doing an excellent performance which she still rock @ 73 and jack white produces the album as well as playing on it. The cherry sisters sang background vocals on Rum and Coca Cola, Dust on the Bible and Teach me Tonight which they do an fine perfomance on them. I saw wanda performed some of the songs on the album at the Coolangatta Hotel during WIntersun on June 13th last year which she sounded great live and sounds great on this album. It's an must for any Wanda Jackson/rockabilly fan and it's on the Third Man Label. I give it 4 stars and it's in the shops now
