Roy Orbison The Monument Singles Collection (1960-64)

This is the double CD by Roy Orbison and this CD has just been released coinciding with the celebration of his birthday last weekend which he would have turned 75. This double CD is the Monument recordings which had his successful hits from 1960-64 and it has the A-sides and B-sides which he joined the label in 1959 after recording for Sun Records which he had an minor hit with Ooby Dooby in 1956 which went to no 59 and RCA which he did'nt have success and also would be with Monument until 1965 which he would have a lot of success with classic hits like Only the Lonley, Crying,Blue Angel, Running Scared, Pretty woman and others. Besides from this double CD it has an DVD which it's the Monument concert that was recorded in holland at the Singer Concert Zaal Laren on March 25th 1965 and it was aired on Combo an Dutch TV show which he performs 9 of the monument hits on this DVD and it shows Roy at the height of his career. It's an AWESOME,BRILLIANT and SUPERB double CD/DVD and with the great songs that still endures after all these years which it's sound as good today as it was back in the 60's. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly 23 years since Roy Orbison passed away but the music lives on and it's 50 years this year when he made his first trip to Australia with Dion DiMucci,Jack Scott, Ray Peterson,Freddy Cannon, Australian singer Johnny Chester and Australian instrumental group the Thunderbirds. This compilation was produced by Gregg Geller and roy's son Roy Orbison Jr (from 2nd wife barbara) did the sequencing. It's an must for any Roy Orbison fan as well as any rock'n'roll fan and it's great stuff to listen to. I give this 5 stars and it's in the shops now. MERCY
