Just 2 weeks ago the autobiography of New Zealand entertainer Ray Columbus known for being in the successful NZ rock group in the 60's Ray Columbus and the Invaders was released and it's called the Modfather the life and times of an rock'n'roll pioneer. in this book Ray talks about his upbringing and growing up in Christchurch, began in the entertainment business at the age of 6 doing tap dancing,getting into rock'n'roll forming an band called the Dominoes in 1959, joining an band called the Downbeats who were an old style dance band who would go through line up changes and would eventually become the band known as Ray Columbus and the Invaders,the attempted rape by an gang of women his father's alcohol problem, going to Auckland, having success in Australia with She's a Mod an Number 1 hit in 1964, touring with the Rolling Stones,Roy orbison, the Dave Clark Five, Hermans Hermits, tom Jones and working in the USA and many others told in this book. it's an AWESOME and BRILLIANT book to read and Margie Thomson co wrote this book with Ray. Ray Columbus tells an lot of great stories in this book and it's an MUST for any rock'n'roll fan of the 60's who grew up in the days of Bandstand and Sing SIng Sing. I love this book and I'm you will be impressed after reading this. I give this 5 stars and it's in the bookshops now.
