Today I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Carol. It is 1952 and an aspiring photographer named Therese Belivet(Rooney Mara) who is temporary shopgirl working at Frankenberg's department store in Manhattan when she see an lady named Carol Aird(Cate Blanchett) who is going an an divorce her husband Harge(Kyle Chandler) and struggling to maintain custody of her daughter Rindy and there is a connection which sparks between them which eventually goes deeper as it gets interesting. It is an BRILLIANT and an SUPERB movie with an Top and an BRILLIANT performance by Cate Blanchett who is nominated for her performance in this film for Best Actress as well as BRILLIANT performances by Rooney Mara as Therese who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the Oscars, Kylie Chandler, Sarah Paulson as Carol's friend Abby, Jake Lacy, singer Carrie Brownstein and others. It is based on the book The Price Of Salt by Patricia Highsmith, director is Todd Haynes, producers were Elizabeth Karlsen, Stephen Woolley and Christine Vachon and Phyllis Nagy did the screenplay. I give this 5 stars and it's running in the cinemas at the moment so do yourselves a favour and see it.
