Beeswing by Richard Thompson

This is the memoir of British singer-songwriter and guitarist and former member of British folk rock band Fairport Convention Richard Thompson and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Notting Hill and Highgate, getting his first instrument at age 6, playing in bands with Hugh Cornwell who went onto form the British band The Stranglers, formed Fairport Convention in 1967  which he was on 5 albums, Sandy Denny joining in 1968 after Judy Dyble left, the tragic loss of drummer Martin Lamble in 1969 which also killed Richard's American girlfriend Jeannie Franklin, leaving Fairport in 1971 for a solo career, marrying Linda Peters who would be a part of the duo with Richard,  working with Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and and many others. It's an FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB book with FANTASTIC stories as well as impressive and very entertaining talking about the period  of the 60's and 70's  which it's well worth a read. Richard is going back on the road in the UK and USA next month and September. This is a must for Fairport Convention fans as well as folk and rock fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed.
