Belfast
Yesterday I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Belfast. It's 1969 and Buddy(Jude Hill) who lives with his mother (Caitriona Balfe) and brother Will(Lewis McAskie) in Belfast as well as his grandparents Granny (Judi Dench) and Pop(Ciaran Hinds) while Buddy's father Pa(Jamie Donan) works in England . a group of Protestants stage a riot on the street Buddy lives attacking homes to intimidate the Catholics and in response to it the people set up an barricade to prevent their return. Buddy has an liking for an Catholic girl named Catherine (Olive Tennant) and local criminal figure and sectarian rabble rouser Billy Clanton(Colin Morgan) wants Pa to join the cause but refuses which leads Billy to be aggresive. The family are struggling to pay off debts and Pa wants the family to move away to live in Vancouver or Sydney which gets interesting. It is Magnificent, Brilliant and Superb with Fantatsic and Brilliant acting by Judi Dench who is still playing great roles in her 80's, Jude Hill, Ciaran Hinds, Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Donan, Lewis McAskie, olive Tennant and Colin Morgan. It is directed by Kenneth Branagh who also produced it with Laura Berwick, Becca Kovacik and Tamar Thomas and he did the screenplay too. The music was done by Van Morrison and the black and white feel in the film is just FANTASTIC. I give it 5 stars as it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT whixh you will be impressed, touched and amazed.
