Lost Classics Zip A Dee Doo Dah Max Merritt and the Meteors (1965)

This is an new segment called Lost Classics doing songs that have not been recognised for a time and I am starting off with Max Merritt and the Meteors' version of the Disney song Zip A Dee Doo Dah that was from the Disney movie Song of the South in 1946 which was an also an hit for Johnny Mercer and the Piped Pipers and the Modernaires with Paula Kelly as well as Sammy Kaye also in 1946 and Bob B Soxx and the Blue Jeans had the hit with it in 1962. Max Merritt and the Meteors' version was their first Australian hit which went to number 94 in 1965 and it was number 38 in Brisbane as it was the first of 6 hits in Brisbane for Max and The Meteors between 1965-76 that also includes the massive hit Slipping Away in 1976 and there is footage of that exists from Sing Sing Sing and Bandstand. I saw on Facebook last week that the Abba tribute show from Queensland Arrival Australia formerly Abbalive are taking an indefinite break after July and the group have been around over 2 decades doing the classic Abba songs including Fernando, Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Waterloo, Gimme Gimme Gimme and many others as well as the members over have included Lynelle Leighton, Nicole (who sang with Darren J Ray and the Lovebugs) and Heidi Enchelmaier (who also sang with Darren J Ray and the Love Bugs). The group played in the leagues club and RSL Clubs around Queensland entertaining the audiences always putting on an FANTASTIC show which it would always sell out and the audiences always enjoyed it which people like myself would the show again and again as Abba's music is great and are always worth listening to. On Monday I was at work having an break looking at my phone when I saw the news about the passing of Australian singer Frank Ifield which I was shocked to hear that. Frank was born on November 30th 1937 in Coundon Conventry England to Australian parents one of 7 sons and emigrated to Australia with his family in 1948 which they lived in Dural NSW . He got an guitar in 1949 and taught himself to yodel. Performed on the radio in the early 50's doing Bonnington's Bunkhouse, Ted Quigg Show, Youth Parade on Brisbane radio station 4BK and Amateur Hour on 2GB and began recording for EMI in 1953. He hosted an show on Channel 9 called Campfire Favourites as well as doing Bandstand hosted by Brian Henderson and other TV shows and was the support act for Dodie Stevens and the Champs on the 1959 Australian tour as well as having hits in Australia including True going to number 26 and Teenage Baby going to number 23 and number 4 in Adelaide. This is the new album by legendary American group New Kids On the Block as it 's their first in 11 years since the album 10 in 2013 and the songs on the album are written by members Donnie Wahlberg and Joel McIntyre as well as the song Kids written by British songwriter David Stewart and Luke Batt as well as they did collaborations with producer DJ Jazzy Jeff on one track and American singer Taylor Dayne on another song. Last night I had the great pleasure to see iconic British singer Engelbert Humperdinck at QPAC Concert Hall which it was my first time. Dad took me to the bus stop, caught bus to SOuth Bank which my friend Steven rang me, got off at South Bank, went to the Plough Inn, rang Dad, had Chicken Parmigiana, chips and Salad for dinner, drank pepsi Max and walk to QPAC. Saw John, met his daughter Michelle and Charles, went to the Cloak room which the lady said that was no need to give the bag as it was small, went upstairs, bought Engelbert Humperdinck Hat and CD, drank Coke With No Sugar, went inside and use my mobile.
