Lost Classics Zip A Dee Doo Dah Max Merritt and the Meteors (1965)

This is an new segment called Lost Classics doing songs that have not been recognised for a time and I am starting off with Max Merritt and the Meteors' version of the Disney song Zip A Dee Doo Dah that was from the Disney movie Song of the South in 1946 which was an also an hit for Johnny Mercer and the Piped Pipers and the Modernaires with Paula Kelly as well as Sammy Kaye also in 1946 and Bob B Soxx and the Blue Jeans had the hit with it in 1962. Max Merritt and the Meteors' version was their first Australian hit which went to number 94 in 1965 and it was number 38 in Brisbane as it was the first of 6 hits in Brisbane for Max and The Meteors between 1965-76 that also includes the massive hit Slipping Away in 1976 and there is footage of that exists from Sing Sing Sing and Bandstand. I first heard it back in the 90's when they played it on 4KQ on Jukebox Saturday Night and their version is an great track which holds up very well as it was that year when Max and the Meteors starting making inroads in Australia as they came from Christchurch formed in 1956 as having recorded since 1959.
