Just 2 weeks ago Ibought this DVD @ Jb Hi Fi at CArindale and i was very impressed. this is a documentary about Pete Best the man who played drums with the one of the greatest rock'n'roll groups The BEatles but this was before they were famous which was in the period when they played in Hamburg and Liverpool from 1960-62 and was dismissed from the group just before they were about to start recording for EMI which pete doesn't know himself why. this DVD is very good and BRILLIANT and Pete Best tells a lot of great stories about his life and career including his time with the Beatles, his upbringing in India, coming to India, His mum Mona starting the cashbah, the hamburg years, meeting brian epstein, auditioning for Decca and EMI and many others and there is a lot of great interviews with people like John McNally(the Searchers),Tony Crane(The Mereybeats), Ray Ennis(the Swinging Blue Jeans),Bill kenwright who played gordon Clegg on Coronation Street, Neil Aspinall Beatles roadie, Tony Sheridan( an British Singer who recorded My Bonnie with The Beatles in germany), Pauline Sutcliffe(stuart sutcliffe's sister), ray McFall(owner of the Cavern), Gerry Marsden(Gerry and the Pacemakers), astrid Kricheerer who took the photos of the Beatles in hamburg, Ron Richards(UK record producer), cynthia Lennon, Bill Harry(liverpool music journo), Rory Best(pete's brother), Alan Williams(first manager for the Beatles) and many others. there is bonus features on this DVD and there are- the decca Sessions revealed, hamburg revisited, Never say die which was about a horse, interview with Andy White an session drummer who played on love me Do, Life after the beatles 1962-68, Band on the road, original(an work in progress) and the trailer and altogether I am very impressed with this DVD which is very good and love the stuff on it and well worth watching. It's a must for any Beatles fan as well as 60's music and add to your collection. i give it 5 stars and it's in your music shops now.
