Classic Albums-Steve & the Board And The Giggle Eyed Goo

This week's classic album segment I am looking at the 1966 album by Australian group Steve and the Board called And The Giggle Eyed Goo. Steve and the Board began in Brisbane as The Board City Blues in 1965 which they moved to Sydney and began recording for the Spin label which was owned by Nat Kipner whose son Steve was in Steve and the Board. their first single was called The Giggle Eyed Goo which was written by Nat Kipner and it went to no 4 in melbourne, 34 in brisbane and number 44 in Perth with Rosalyn was number 18 in brisbane and the title album was released in 1966 which it was recorded @ St Clair Studio in Hurstville an suburb in Sydney but did not chart. It's an great album with great songs with 3 songs written by Carl keast, 2 written by Alex Hill and Colin petersen, 1 written by Steve Kipner and Carl keats, 3 cover versions and an Barry Gibb song Little Miss Rhythm and Blues and even though the group lasted until May 1967 but left an impact in that space of time as it was an launching pad for Steve Kipner who went to success with Tin Tin and an greater success as an successful writing hits for people like Olivia Newton John, Chicago, Christina Aguileria, Natasha Bedingfield, 98 Degrees and many others, Colin peterson who left the Steve and the Board in 1966 went to the Bee gees which he played on the early international hits until 1969, Carl keats wrote the song Down the Dustpipe for Staus Quo and Geoff Brigdford who joined in 1966 and played on 2 of the songs I want and I call my woman hinges cause she's something to adore went on to form the Groove one of the first Australian supergroups with hits like Soothe Me, Simon Says and others as well as playing with the Bee Gees in the early 70's and still plays music as he is based on the Gold Coast. it's an album that should deserve an place in the history of Australian classic albums and still sounds great today as it did back in 1966 which it was re issued on CD in 2000 on the Ascension label.
