Ladies In Black

I went to the Events Cinema at Carindale tonight where I saw Ladies In Black. It's Sydney 1959 and Lisa (Angourie Rice) an 16 year old student who is waiting for her exams to go to university starts work at the department store called Good's for the Christmas Rush where she meets Fay(Rachael Taylor) who is tired of Dating Australian men and Patty(Alison McGirr) who is sexually frustrated and having difficulties with her husband played Luke Pegler as well as Ms Cartwright (Noni Hazelhurst). Lisa becomes with Magda (Julia Ormond) who along with her husband (Vincent Perez) were Europe immigrants and dreams of having her own store and has an impact on Lisa who is awakened to an world of possibilities as well as blossoms into an glamourous young woman as well as Fay meets Rudie(Ryan Corr) who is from Hungary and starts an relationship. It's FANTASTIC, very funny and very entertaining with FANTASTIC and Brilliant acting by Julia Ormond, Angourie Rice, Rachael Taylor, Ryan Corr, Alison McGirr, Shane Jacobson, Susie Porter( who plays Lisa's parents), Vincent Perez, Luke Pegler and Nicholas Hammond. It's directed by Bruce Beresford who has done excellent job with this film and it's based on the book of the same name written by Madeline St John. it's an great storyline which was at the time of the impact of the European immigrants coming to Australia as well as the emergence of the women's liberation that would make an impact in Australia it reminds us of how times were back then and we've come an long way since then. I give this 4 stars as it's in the cinemas now as it was released in the cinemas yesterday and do yourselves an favour and see this film.
