Cousins
On Tuesday I went to the South Bank Cinema where I saw the movie Cousins. 3 cousins are connected but have been separated by circumstances Mata was stolen from her whanau and is placed in an orphanage which she is looked after by a guardian Mrs Parkin and lives in fear and bewilderment in her childhood and is only saved by her imagination. Makareta who is educated and is destined to become Princess of the tribe escapes an arranged marriage. Missy takes her place as the bride amalgamating the land as well as taking the mantle of kaitiaki which is guardian in Maori. Makareta and Missy do achieve success which Makareta as a lawyer and Missy in charge of the land but for Mata is not doing well as her marriage ends as when she is not capable of an physical love as well as looking after her friend's baby and when that was taken away from her she goes on the streets and it gets interesting. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with amazing acting by Briar Grace Smith, Tanea Heke and Rachel House and it's an touching story of how families have connections but are separated due to circumstances and somehow stay connected in one way to the other. Briar Grace Smith also directed the movie with Ainsley Gardiner who also produced it with Libby Hakaraia and Georgina Allison Conder . I give it 5 stars as it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be amazed and impressed.
