Writing In The Sand by Matt Garrick
This is the biography about the legendary Australian music group Yothu Yindi and in the book it talks about the history of the group who were formed in the 80's from 2 bands the Swamp Jockeys and an unnamed Aboriginal folk group, playing around Darwin, working in Seoul, the USA with Midnight Oil and the UK, recording for Mushroom Records which they would achieve great success in 1991 with the hit single Treaty as well as the album Tribal Voice, touring Europe and South Africa as well as performing at both the Olympics and Paralympics in 2000, their induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2012, the passing of Mandawuy Yunupinu in 2013 and Gurrumul Yunupinu in 2017 and it has interviews with current and former band members as peple like Joy McKean, Peter Garrett, Andrew Farris and many others. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with AWESOME, IMpressive and Very Entertaining stories as well as great research done by Matt Garrick who worked for NT News as well as the ABC and an freelancer and editor for the Arafura Times. Yothu Yindi are still around and did a show in June. It's 30 years since the Treaty came out and still sounds great today as it did back. This is an must for fans of Australian music as well as yothu yindi fans and I am giving it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed about an iconic Australlian band.
