Simply Aussie Show @ Carina Leagues Club

On Australia Day (January 26th) I went to the Carina Leagues CLub where I saw an tribute show to Australian music called Simply Aussie. The show started @ 7.30pm and for the next 4 hours they did 4 sets of classic Australian songs by AC/Dc, Billy thorpe and the Aztecs, THe Easybeats, Dragon, INXS, Men At Work, Paul Kelly etc as well as stuff by Fleetwood Mac, Bryan Adams, Abba and others and there were 3 members on stage which they wore Australian clothes on stage which looked great. The show finished @ 11.30pm with the group doing Down Under and thanked 2 of the members. I saw Maria, Wayne and Stephanie and the show was very good as well as the band played very good but the only downside was that they did some songs that were not Aussie ones which to me when you do an tribute to Australian music it should be really be Australian ones but the others as I said it was very good. set 1- Great Southern Land Torn Sounds Of then(This is Australia) Don't Stop HERE Stay ...

Les Miserables

On Saturday January 26th I went to Carindale cinema to see the movie Les Miserables. It's 1815 and convict Jean Valjean(Hugh Jackman) has been released on Parole by prison guard named Javert(Russell Crowe) after serving 19 years in jail. Jean is offered food and shelter by the Bishop of Digne played by Colm Wilkinson but during the night he steals the silver and is given an let off by the Bishop by saying that the silver was given to Valjean who then breaks his parole by vowing to help others and to start an new life under an new name and it's gets very interesting throughout the movie. It's an BRILLIANT movie with BRILLIANT acting by Hugh Jackman who plays Jean Valjean (he is an nominated for an Best Actor Oscar), Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine (she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress, Helena Bonham Carter playing mme Thenardier, Sascha Baron Cohen who plays Thenardier, Amanda Seyfried plays Cosette, Colm Wilkinson plays the Bishop and many others...

The Avengers Show @ Carina Leagues Club Janaury 19th 2013

On Saturday Janaury 19th I went to Carina Leagues club to see legendary Brisbane group the Avengers which it was their first time playing there and it was my 11th time seeing them as well as my 2nd time seeing them this month. The show started @ 7.30pm and for the next 4 hours they did 4 sets of classic rock and pop songs from people like ELvis Presley, The Beatles, The Eagles, Buddy holly, John Cougar mellencamp, Cliff RIchard, the Four Seasons, Dion DiMucci, Roy orbison and many others and before the shows spoke with graeme which he told me that he had hurt himself during that week and during the first interval spoke with Roger which he told me that @ 4BC Spectacular in 1965 in which the Avengers were one of the acts that performed @ the Festival hall he saw the Easybeats performed on stage which he thought they were great and he mentioned that stevie wright threw the tie into the stage which Roger has it and that is amazing and said to me that he sent an scan of the...

Doug Parkinson show @ Kedron Wavell Friday January 18th 2013

On Friday January 18th 2013 I went to Kedron wavell Services Club to see legendary Australian singer Doug Parkinson and it was my 6th time seeing him live. the show started at about 8.10pm with Doug coming on stage and for the next 2 hours he performed classic songs as doing his 2 hits Dear Prudence and I'll be Around as well as telling stories about his career as well as his growing up in NSW as well as doing musicals he did and in the audience was drummer Doug Lavery who played with the Valentines which had Bon Scott long before AC/DC, axiom which he played on Arkansas Grass and a little Ray of Sunshine as well as playing with Doug Parkinson In Focus from 1968-69 and in the interval I met Doug LAvery which i got an autograph and an photo which i asked him about the Valentines members which he said Wyn lives in Sydney, Ted lives in perth and he is not sure about John Cooksey as well as the Axiom members Don Mudie lives in melbourne but is an hermit and Chris Sto...

Unfinished Business is the latest album by legendary American rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson. On this album it has new material as well as covers of songs by people like Etta James, Bobby and Shirley Womack and Woody Guthrie and she draws upon her rockabilly and country roots and it was recorded @ the House of David in Nashville Tennessee. It's an BRILLIANT album with great songs and it rocks this album with great great singing by Wanda who sounds great on this album at the age of 75. this album was produced by American singer songwriter justin Townes Earle and it was only just released in Australia last friday which had been released in the USA on October 9th last year(2012). This album is an must for any Wanda Jackson fans as well as any rockabilly fans and I am giving this 4 and an half stars which it is in the shops now.

Last Friday I went to the Balmoral cinema with my mum Cathy to see the movie Hitchcock. Alfred Hitchcock(Anthony Hopkins) having celebrated his latest successful film North By Northwest but is troubled by an reporters insinuation that it was time for him to retire and wanting to reclaim the artistic daring of his younger days Alfred gets an book called Psycho which is written by Robert Bloch that is based on famous crime done by killer Ed gein as he turns down film proposals like Casino Royale. The Avengers show @ Easts Leagues Club January 6th 2013

On Sunday Janury 6th I went to East Leagues Club to see the Brisbane group the Avengers which it was my 10th time seeing them live and I had lunch before the show which I had Beef Nachos. The show started @ 1pm and for the next 4 hours they did 4 sets of classic songs by the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck berry, the Four Seasons, the Bee Gees, Roy Orbison,Dion and others and did some songs they had not done for a while which was great too. At the show I saw Bob and Vivian and met Sandy,Rod,Dolly and Warren and also during the intervals said hello to Mick, Roger and Graeme. The show finished @ 5pm with the group doing Twist and Shout and thanked the guys after the show which I will see them @ Carina Leagues Club on January 19th as it will be the first time for them to play there and I am glad they are playing there.
