On December 1st this book written by US soul singer Dionne Warwick with David freeman Wooley who is an professor @Wilmington University as well as having co authored with Dionne Warwick an children's book 'Say A Little Prayer' as well as being an entrepreneur & producer in the sports and entertainment fields was released in Australia. In this book Dionne tells about her life from her childhood in East Orange,New Jersey at age 6 in church which was at the request of her grandfather Reverend Elaze Warwick, then sang with her sister Dee Dee in the Gospelaires , began recording on the Scepter Records in 1962 with her very first hit record "Don't Make me Over" (no 25 USA) which in 1966 UK rock group the Swinging Blue Jeans" had an no 31 UK hit with it and she would have many hits after that including Alfie,ANyone Who had A Heart, I Say A Little Prayer, Walk on By, That's what Friends Are For(which she won an Grammy for in 1986), Do you know the way to San jose(which she won her first Grammy in 1968), A House is not A Home,promises Promises, theme from Valley of the Dolls etc, worked with people like the Bee Gees who wrote her big hit Heartbreaker in 1982, Burt Bacharach and Hal David who wrote many of her big hits back in the 60's, Sam Cooke, Elton John, Gladys Knight, the Spinners, Johnny Mathis, the Drifters, the Crystals, Chubby Checker, bobby Rydell and others, her personal Life, hosting "Solid Gold" an US music show in the 80's, doing charities, coming from an musicial family which her mum Lee who came from the Drinkard Jubiliars, her dad who promoted gospel music on Hob Records, dee Dee her sister, her aunty Cissy Houston and her cousin Whitney Houston and others. It's an EXCELLENT book to read which Dionne tells an lot of great stories about her life and career and there is segment which she tells about the Lessons she has learnt throughout her life. it's an must for any 60's music and soul music fan and it's in the shops so i give it 5 stars.
