This was Elvis' first recording session after being out of the army and this was first studio album since King Cerole soundtrack album in 1958. The "Elvis Is Back" album was recorded in Nashville in 2 nights which the tracks were recorded on March 20th and April 3rd 1960. an new sound for Elvis emerged with a challenging and diverse material which was combined with gospel, doo wop, gospel, blues and jazz and going further towards pop, improved recording technology which was 3 tracks and an band of session musicians including Charlie Hodge who was to be in the Memphis Mafia and played with Elvis when he went back on stage in the late 60's but guitarist Scotty Moore who played with Elvis in 1954 and drummer DJ Fontana who had been with Elvis since 1954 returned as well as the Jordanaires who had been singing on Elvis' records since 1956 as well as pianist Floyd Cramer. This album was released on April 8th 1960 and it went to number 2 in the USA and number 1 in the UK. the follow up "Something For Everybody was recorded in 1 night on March 12th 1961 for 12 hours also in Nashville which has an combination of ballads and uptempo songs including Put The Blame on Me, Judy, It's A Sin, Starting Today, Gently and others which actually I Slipped, I Stumbled I Fell was recorded on November 7th and 8th 1960 for the film Wild In the Country and RCA dug in the archives to add the song on the album. The album was released in June 1961 which went to number 1 in the USA and no 2 in the UK and those 2 albums have been released on CD by Legacy Records as it's 50 years since those albums came out. It's BRILLIANT, ROCKIN & ENJOYABLE and the songs on these 2 albums are just as good now was it was 50 years ago with stuff like Fever, Girl Of My best Friend, Dirty Dirty Feeling, Such A Night, Make Me Know It, Give the Right and others as well as the singles that's added on the CD including Stuck On You, It's Now Or Never, Surrender, Are You Lonesome Tonight, Little Sister,Good Luck Charm, Marie's the Name(his Latest Flame) etc. These 2 albums were produced by Steve Sholes and are probably Elvis' finest albums ever made and it's amazing that it still endures. it's an must for any Elvis Presley/rock'n'roll fan and it was released her in Australia just last Friday. I give this 5 stars and it's in the shops now
