Let's look at one of the biggest selling albums in the history of rock'n'roll Hotel California by the american rock group of the 70's the Eagles. This album was the first for member joe Walsh who had joined the group in 1975 replacing original founding member Bernie Leadon and Joe had being in two other bands prior to the Eagles which were Barnstorm and the James Gang and also it was the last album for original member Randy Mesiner who would leave the group in September 1977 which he would be replaced by Timothy Schmdit who was in Poco which the band that randy was in from 1968-69. the album was recorded at the Record Plant in los Angeles and Criteria Studios in Miami Florida from March-October 1976 and it was released on December 8th 1976 which went to number 1 In the USA for 8 weeks, no 1 In Australia and no 10 on the USA country charts. this album had 3 hit singles the title track Hotel California(number 1 In the USA)as well as winning the Record of the Year at the Grammys, New Kid In Town (Number 1 in the USA) which also won an grammy for Best Arrangement for Voices and Life In the fast Lane (No 11 in the USA) as well as selling 16 million copies in the USA and it was produced by Bill Szymezyk who had produced On the Border and One of these nights albums as well as the Long Run album 3 years later and the 2007 album the Long Road Out Of Eden. The engineers were Bill Szymezyk, Ed MAshal, Bruce Hensal and Allan Blazek and Szymezyk also did the mixing as well and Jim Ed Norman did the conducting and the string arrangements. It's an BRILLIant album with superb musicianship and excellent harmonies with more of an rocking sound with brilliant guiatr playing by Joe Walsh and the songs are just brilliant which besides from the hit singles there are great songs on it like Victim of Love, Wasted Time, The Last Resort and others. This albums holds up very well today and it sounds as great today as it did back in 1976 and it is by far one of the best albums the Eagles ever made as well one of the biggest selling albums ever along with Saturday Nighr Fever,Rumours,Thriller and Others. An great classic indeed and it still in the shops today somewhere in the world which it's worth listening to.
