the album Gift Of Song was the second solo album for Judith Durham lead singer of the legendary Australian group the Seekers and it is now out on CD. This album was recorded at Western Recorders in Hollywood,California,USA in 1969 which took 6 weeks and the producer of this album was Chad Stuart who was from the legendary British singing duo Chad and Jeremy known for hits like Yesterday's Gone, A summer Song, Willow Weep For me and others and was engineered by by Mike sheilds &Richard Clements did the conducting and arrangements as well as among the musicians who played on the album were Ron Edgeworth whom Judith would marry in November 1969 that lasted until his passing in 1994 from Motor Neurone Disease, Session drummer HAl Blaine, LArry Knechtel, Tommy Scott, Mike Anthony, Kenny Watson and many others. This album was released on the A&M label in 1970 and the songs on the album that Judith chose were sourced in England and America and it's the first time that it is out on CD. This an beautiful and an BRILLIANT album which Judith sang BRilliant on this album and it came at the time when she was venturing in the solo world after acheiving success with the Seekers which they broke up in 1968. the songs on this album are just beautiful and brilliant arrangements with songs like here I am which Ron Edgeworth plays piano on it, I can Say written by DAvid Riley who had written with Judith writing Colours of My Life which the Seekers recorded it on the Seen In green album in 1967 as well as Can't Make Up My Mind, Gift Of Song written by PAtty Ingalis, Wailing of the Willow written by harry Nilsson, the Light is Dark ENough and many others. it is great to see this album finally out on CD and it's been an great few months for Judith who is celebrating 50 years in the music business as the compilation of her career came out on CD last year "Colours Of My Life" as well as the albums Epiphany and Australian Cities Suite being released and is about to do an Australian tour in June-July. This album is an must for any Seekers fans as well as Judith Durham fans which it's well worth listening to and I give this 5 stars which it's in the shops now.
