Classic Album-Cosmo's FActory Creedence Clearwater Revival
This week's classic album segment is the 1970 album Cosmo's Factory by American group Creedence Clearwater Revival. This was the group's 5th album as they had been on the music scene since 1968 with an string of hit single including Proud Mary,Suzie Q, Green River, Bad Moon Rising and others and had played at Woodstock he year before in 1969 and at that time one of the top American Bands. This album was recorded at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco between 1969-70 which the name of the album came from the room where the band rehearsed early in their career which bandleader John Fogerty was so insisting on rehearsing everyday and the atmosphere was so smoky from the other band members cigarettes that the drummer Doug Cosmo CLifford began referring it as the Factory. the album was released in July 1970 which went to number in the USa, UK,Australia,Canada,France and Norway and it went gold by December 16th 1970 which by 1990 it received certification of 4 times platinum. this is an excellent album with great stuff written by John Fogerty as well as covers like Ooby Dooby, my Baby Left Me and an 11 minute version of I Heard It Through the Grapevine which it's brilliant and later had to edited to 4 minutes for radio airplay and later compilations an also it has the singles- Travellin Band/Who'll Stop the Rain, Run Throught he Jungle/Up Around the Bend and Lookin Out My Back Door/Long As I Can See the Light. It's 40 years since Creedence broke up in 1972 which the music stills get played and endures and this album holds up very well with great songs and an great sound as well being in 2003 by Rolling stones being ranked number 265 of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
