Classic Albums-Rumours by Fleetwood MAc

I'm sorry I have not done the Classic Albums segement for an month as I was down the Gold Coast for Cooly Rocks On, my trip with Mum to Rockhampton and had to catch up with the blogs of the shows I saw @ Cooly Rocks On as well as the shows at Easts Leagues CLub and Carina Leagues CLub. Let's start this segment with one of the biggest selling albums of all time Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. This was the second album with the line up of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham who had joined the group in 1975 after the departure of guitarist Bob Welch who an month ago passed away and had been with Fleetwood Mac since 1971 and with the line up of Stevie and Lindsey recorded the self title album Fleetwood Mac which was released that year of 1975 that went to number 1 in the USA as well selling 4 million copies and also had the 3 hit singles Over My Head, Rhiannon and Say You Love Me. The recording of this album that was to become Rumours began on January 28th 1976 which was recorded at the Record Plant in Sausalito and Los Angeles, California, Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida and Wally Heider Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California and it was at this time when the personal relationships between the group's members were breaking up John and Christine McVie who had been married since 1968 as well as Christine been in the group since 1970 although had played on some of the early albums were separating, Stevie and Lindsey who had been an couple since the early 1970's which they recorded an album called Buckingham Nicks in 1973 were breaking up and Mick Fleetwood's marriage to Jennie Boyd(Sister of Pattie Boyd who married George Harrison of the Beatles and later Eric Clapton) was breaking up also and that reflected in the songs that appeared on the album as well as there internal strife and tensions as well as extensive use of cocaine. the recording lasted until the end of 1976 and it was released in the USA on February 4th 1977 on the Warner Bros label which went to number 1 where it stayed there for 31 weeks, number 1 in England, Australia, Canada, netherlands, New Zealand and South Africa and it also 4 hit singles-Go your Own Way, Dreams,Don't Stop and You Make Loving Fun. the album won an Grammy for album of the year and it was produced by the band, Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut who also engineered it with Cris Morris assisted and it was John McVie who came up with the name Rumours as he felt the members were writing journals and diaries about each other through music. It's an BRILLIANT album that holds up very well after 35 years as it is 35 years when the album was released and the songs holds up very well too which besides from those 4 hits like Oh Daddy, Songbird which was recorded @ Zellerback Auditorium in U.C Berkeley on March 3rd 1976, I Dont Want to Know, Gold Dust Woman and others. The album is Fleetwood Mac's most successful album of their career as well selling over 40 million copies to this day and it's the 6th best selling album in the USA & the 14th best selling album in the UK as well as going platinum in the USA, UK and Australia. It's still in the shops to this day and it is still worth listening to after all these years.
