the double CD the Hottest Band In Town are both the remastered albums by legendary Australian singer and member of the Seekers Judith Durham. These 2 albums were recorded in San Francisco in 1973 at the roy chen studio in Chinatown from February-March which was produced by Judith Durham and her husband pianist Ron Edgeworth who also did the arranging which at that time Judith had returned to jazz roots having been an jazz singer prior to joining the Seekers and it was in San Francisco where Judith and Ron Performed @ Pier 23, the Rose and thistle and Earthquake McGoons which was owned by Trombonist Turk Murphy and pete Clute the pianist and they would play there from september 1972 and got together musicians Jim Goodwin, Jerry Butzen,Phil Howe,Ed Turner,Bill Maginnis,Phil Franklin, John Moore, Tom Rutley and Bob Taylor to record this album which both Ron & Judith produced this album which Ron did the arrangements as well the engineers were Steve Eldridge and Jim Hainey which Steve also did the mising @ Aengus Studio in Boston. I wanna Dance To Your Music was released as an single but did'nt chart eve though it did recieved airplay as well as the Young Generation danced to it on the Rolf Harris show as well as being featured in Ethel Mermans's London Palladium season and also featured in Max Bygraves' West End Shows which made an major mark for Judith as an writer. It was Judith's Mother in law Vicky Edgeworth who named Judith's jazz band the Hottest band in town which it was music to her ears and after an UK tour Judith & Ron with the British line of the Hottest Band In Town of Dennis Fiels, terry Pitts, Sammy Rimington, Hugh Rainey,Greg Sumner, Phil Franklin, Cal Duffy, Alan Stott and Bob Taylor went to Pye Studios in London to record the that was to become Judith Durham and the Hottest Band In Town in May/June 1974. These 2 albums are finally out as an Double CD and it is out on Decca/Universal label. It's an BRILLIANT jazz CD with great songs sang by Judith on these albums like mama's got the blues, Am I Blue, I wanna Dance to Your Music, Oh Daddy Blues, Alexander's Ragtime Band, Basin Street Blues, The Man I love, The ENtertainer, The Hottest band In Town and others as well as bonus tracks Sister Kate(I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My) which she did it with the ABC dance Band in 1963, I Love the Sousa @ Australian Jazz Convention in hobart in 1977, Gloryland and I Love you both recorded in 1976. This double Cd was produced by Judith Durham, Executive producers were Cyrus Meher Homji and Graham Simpson who did the liner notes on it and Michael Cristiano mastered it @ Soundplay in Melbourne. it's an must for any Judith Durham fans as well as Seekers fans and jazz fans as well and sounds so great and well worth listening to. I am giving this 5 stars and it's in the shops now.
