The Sapphires

On Sunday AUgust 26th I went to the South Bank Cinema with the Friendship group to see the movie the Sapphires. Two Sisters Gail(Deborah Mailman) and Cynthia(Miranda Tapsell) enter an talent contest at an local pub which the younger sister Julie(Jessica Mauboy) is considered too young by their parents but eventually joins them which they don't win the award and they meet an MC drunken Irish guy named Dave(Chris O'Dowd)who encourages them to do soul music instead of country. there is an ad for entertainers to perform in Vietnam which they are joined by an child of the stolen generation Kay(Shari Stebbens) which they do the audition and off to Vietnam. it's an excellent and an BRILLIANT movie with great acting by Jessica Mauboy, Deborah Mailman, Miranda Tapsell, Shari Stebbens and Chris O'Dowd with great music and an excellent story with funny, sad and touching moments. it is inspired by an true story as an musical and it raises questions like vietnam War as well as the racial problem iN australia at that time. It is directed by Wayne Blair and produced by ROsemary Blight and Kylie Du Frense and also it's an must for any Australian movie fans. I am giving this 4 and an half stars and it's currently running in the cinemas now
