Afraid of the Dark Nat King Cole
Afraid Of the Dark is the documentary about legendary American singer Nat King Cole. In this documentary it candidly talks about his life and career which he would achieve hit records as well as being one the first black entertainers to host an national TV show as well as what really happened of his fame and fortune are taken from his private journals that was made to this production which was done by his widow Maria Cole just before her passing at age 89 in 2012 as well as revealing the last words of Maria opening her heart on film to tell of the man she loved as well as the life they sheared and also it has interviews with people like daughters Natalie, Casey and Timolin as well as artists like George Benson, Tony Bennett, Harry Belafonte, Johnny Mathis, Aaron Neville and many others. It is an impressive, BRILLIANT and SUPERB DVD as well as so entertaining and so enjoyable with great stories about an artist who passed away 49 years ago and is still fondly remembered to this day as well as the great music that still lives on to this day. It is directed by Jon Brewer who did the BB king documentary as well as producing it with associate producers Laura Royko and Seth Berg and assistant producers Alison Crowe and Harriet Glynn. Also featuring in the documentary is the family mementos, letters and footage and there is extra features on the DVD that includes an extended interview with Natalie Cole, Nat King Cole in Japan and others and also until recently the real story had not been told as there had been no access to the most personal records that had been under lock and key in a museum in New York. The DVD is a must for any Nat King Cole fans and I am giving this 4 and a half stars which it's in the shops now so do yourself a favour and BUY IT.
