Russell Morris show @ Kedron Wavell
On Saturday September 13th I went to Kedron Wavell to see legendary Australian singer Russell Morris which it was my 11th time seeing him live and had not seen him since Friday May 18th 2002 @ Mt Gravatt Bowls Club with Jim Keays. I caught the bus to Chermside from Cannon Hill which I walk to Kedron Wavell, had Nachos for dinner at the Cafe as well as having a Sundae, went upstairs, bought a Kevon Borich CD, went inside the Blue Pacific Room and talked which I met Helen and Peter. The show started @ 8pm with Kevin Borich coming on stage just him and guitars which he did a great set doing a few of his own songs as well as doing Little Red Rooster and finished off the set with his hit with the La De Das with Gonna See My Baby Tonight and also he came out for autographs he signed the CD I bought as well as getting photos as well as having a coke to drink. Then Russell Morris came out which he was backed up by John Creech(the Mixtures and Bluestone) on Drums, Peter Robinson on guitar and Mitch Cairns who produced Russell's albums both Sharkmouth and Van Diemen's Land on bass and he did a FANTASTIC set which he performed most of the tracks from the 2 albums as well as his classic hits from the 60's and 70's and also he was telling the stories about the songs that was based on real Australian people, stories and events as there was a screen on the stage of the Australian stuff which looked great. The show finished @ 10.40pm which Russell came out to signed autographs and photos as he was selling the 2 successful albums as well as the T shirts, I saw John Creech which I got an autograph and a photo as well as him being amazed of my knowledge about the Mixtures as well asking him about the original members Rod De CLerk and Laurie Arthur, got Russell's autograph and a photo as there was a big line up of people getting their stuff signed, went outside, Dad picked me up and came home. It was an FANTASTIC show which everyone had a great time including myself and Russell Morris still sounds great as ever as he is having an very successful time with those albums that is great to see as well as seeing Therese, Leigh and her dad John and also I look forward to see RUssell again in the future which to those who have not seen Russell Morris go and see him which you should enjoy the show as he puts on an FANTASTIC show which will brings back memories for those who grew up in the 60's and 70's as well as those who were not born in that era but who has an interest you will truly enjoy the experience of seeing an true legend of Australian music.
