A Royal Night Out
On Tuesday June 2nd I went to the cinema @ Coolangatta to see the movie A Royal Night Out. It is May 8th 1945 and the war in Europe is over which the people of London are celebrating. Princess Elizabeth(Sarah Gadon) and Princess Margaret(Bel Powley) are allowed to join the celebrations against the wishes of the Queen(Emily Watson) as well as the King(Rupert Everett) who is impressed with Elizabeth's pleading to ask her to report back on the feelings of people towards him as well as the midnight speech he was going to do. Each girl who are going incognito are being given an chaperone of a army officer and the plan was for them to get back to Buckingham Palace by 1am but doesn't go according to plan as each girl would encounter romance and danger and it gets interesting. It is an excellent movie with excellent acting by Sarah Gadon, Bel Powley, Emily Watson, Rupert Everett, Jack Reynor who plays Jack, Ruth Sheen who plays Jack's Mum, Roger Allam plays Stan and others and also there is some excellent humor too. The film is directed by Julian Jarrold, producers are Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae and the screenplay was written by Kevin Hood and Trevor De Silva and this movie was inspired by true events. I give this 4 stars
