Superstars Of the 60's @ the Marquee June 3rd 2015

On Wednesday June 3rd I attended my first Cooly Rocks on show for 2015 which was at the the Marquee and the acts on the bill were Leisa Kerris(7th time), The Lions Den(first time) and the Beatlegs(5th Time). I walked to the Marquee, had a Coke Zero to drink,saw guitarist Russell Bayne, my sister on the mobile looking for Mum and Dad and use mobile. The show started after 7pm with the first act being Leisa Kerris which she did an set of classic 50's and 60's songs by the girl singers including Dusty Springfield, Brenda Lee,Connie Francis, Sandy Posey and Petula Clark and after her set said hello to her which I bought an double CD as well as getting it signed and an photo and also had an bottle of water to drink. The second act that came on were the Lions Den who are an group from the Gold Coast which it was their first time @ Cooly Rocks On and they did an set doing the classic doo wop and harmony songs by groups including the Platters, The Bee Gees, the Four Seasons and the Temptations which they sounded BRILLIANT as they sang so well and BRILLIANTLY. After their set I bought an CD by one of their members Daniel Malari, got it signed as well as getting an photo with the guys, had an Coke Zero to drink and use mobile. The last act for the night were the Beatlegs and they did an great set doing the classic Beatles songs from 1963-65 which towards the end of the set one of their guitarists had an broken guitar string. The show finished after 10.30pm and I walked back to Bella Mare which I rang Mum. It was an FANTASTIC and an BRILLIANT show which everyone had a great time including myself and the acts were just FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT and sounded great too including the Lions Den which I was impressed with their set.I look forward to seeing those acts again soon as well as hopefully they come back to Cooly Rocks On next year. Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

This is the book about 2 iconic Australian music shows that were on Channel 0 (now Channel 10)back in the 60's The Go Show on August 4th 1964 which lasted for 3 years and 222 episodes until September 17th 1967 and Kommotion hosted by Ken Sparkes was on from December 13th 1965 until September 28th 1967 after 356 episodes and in the book it has the info about both shows as well as episode guides as well the discography of both the Go label and the Kommotion label and the people who worked on Kommotion including Denise Drysdale and Molly Meldrum and many others including some memorabilla and photos of the artists. It is AWESOME, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and AWESOME stuff and amazing information about the Go Show which just celebrated 60 years an month ago and Kommotion as well as very impressive and very entertaining which it is well worth an read.
