Baby It's Me /Any Old Iron by Davy Jones
In 1967 Davy Jones was having achieving success with the Monkees with an string of hits which included A Little Bit Me A Little Bit You and Daydream Believer and in Australia some of the songs he recorded on the Colpix label(owned by Columbia) in 1965 before the Monkees started which was released on his debut album David Jones were getting release on the Astor label which one of them was Baby It's Me written by Mark Anthony with the b side Any Old Iron an British music hall song written by Charles Collins, Fred E Terry and EA Sheppard which was first recorded in 1911 by Harry Champion and had been recorded by people like Lonnie Donegan, Peter Sellers who had an number 17 UK hit with it in 1957 and Hermans Hermits and many others. Baby It's Me went to number 56 in Australia, number 30 in Brisbane and number 27 in Melbourne but the b side Any Old Iron went to number 21 in perth by early 1968. Amazing to see that Davy's solo recordings befor the Monkees were hits in Australia.
