The Miracle Club

This afternoon I went to the Denedy Cinema at Coorparoo to see the movie The Miracle Club. It's 1967 in Dublin Ireland and 3 ladies Eileen Dunne (Kathy Bates), Lily Fox (Maggie Smith) and Dolly Hennessey(Agnes O'Casey) are in an talent quest for the church to win an voucher to go to Lourdes France where they do miracles there which draws millions of people there and then Chrissy Ahearn(Laura Linney) who is the daughter of their friend Maureen who passed away arrives for her funeral and despite oppotions from the ladies' husbands they go to Lourdes which each woman's past will reopen old wounds and have to find an way to confront their past as they travel for the miracle and then it gets interesting. It's excellent, very impressive and very entertaining with great acting by Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates, Agnes O'Casey, Stephen Rae who plays Eileen's husband Frank, Mark McKenna who plays Dolly's husband George and Brenda Fricker is the voice of Chrissie's mother Maureen. It is directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan and produced by Chris Curling, Alixandre Witlin and Joshua D Maurer who also did the screenplay with Jimmy Smallhorne and Timothy Prager. Maggie Smith still comes up with great roles and she does the roles so very well including this movie and also for an little trivia Agnes O'Casey is the great grandaughter of Irish playwright Sean O'Casey which the MGM movie in 1965 called Young Cassidy about that starred Rod Taylor, Flora Robson, Maggie Smith, Julie Christie and Michael Redgrave was about Sean O"Casey. I give this 4 stars and it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed and amazed as well as being entertained with an good story.
