Shell Shocked Howard Kaylan

Shell Shocked my Life with the Turtles,Flo and Eddie and Frank Zappa etc is the autobiography of Howard Kaylan lead singer and founding member of American 60's pop group the Turtles. In this book Howard talks about his childhood in new York, moving to California where he grew in Los Angeles in an suburb called westchester, joined an band called the Nightriders who would become the Crossfires and eventually the Turtles, began recording for White Wale label which they would have successful hit records from 1965-70 with It Ain't Me babe, You baby, Let me Be, Happy Together, She'd Rather Be With Me, Elenor and many others, joining the Mothers Of Invention with Frank Zappa in the 70's as well as forming the duo Flo and Eddie, working with Bruce Springsteen, Marc Bolan,John Lennon, Alice Cooper, Duran Duran, The Ramones etc as well as his 5 marriages, living the rock n roll lifestyle of sex, drugs and rock n roll and many others. It is an AWESOME and an BRILLIANT book with great stories which are impressive, funny and hilarious and I really enjoyed reading the book. It is written with Jeff Tamarkin who wrote the book about the Jefferson Airplane called Got A Revolution The Turbulent Flight Of Jefferson Airplane and Penn Jillette who is from the magic comedy duo Penn and Teller does the foreword. Howard Kaylan is still touring with the Turtles mainly around the USA and this is an group that should be considered for an induction into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame which they should get it for the impact for they had made back in the 60's. I was supposed to go and see them in 2010 @ Twin Towns on the Gold Coast but was cancelled which I was very disappointed and I hope they do tour Australia eventually. This book is an must for any music fans of the 60's as well as fans of the Turtles and I am giving this 5 stars which it's in the shops now.
