Bobby Rydell show @ Kedron Wavell February 15th 2014

Last night (Saturday February 15th) I went to Kedron Wavell Services Club for the 2nd night in a row to see legendary American singer Bobby Rydell which it was my 3rd time seeing him. I caught the bus from Cannon Hill to chermside @ 5.30pm, walk to Kedron Wavell, went to the Cafe, Had Nachos for dinner, had chocolate Sundae for desert, drank a glass of coke, bought a ticket to see Stevie The Life and Music of Stevie Wright and the Easybeats, went inside the Blue Pacific room, read book and had a drink of water. The show started at about 8.30pm with the Melbourne rock group the All Stars come on stage and they did a 40 minute set doing classic rock n roll songs written by people like Leiber and Stoller, Neil Sedaka, Otis Blackwell and others as well as 2 Shadows instrumentals which they did a great set with great guitar playing by Barry Roy, excellent sax playing by Graeme Broomfield and excellent singing by each of the members including Ian B Allen. There was an interval which I had a Coke Zero and then after 9.30pm Bobby Rydell dressed up in a suit and tie coming on stage which he did an hour set as he did his classic hits from the 60's as well as a medley of Bobby Darin Songs as well as talking about his health scare when he had the double transplant 2 years ago as well as his heart bypass as well as mentioned Frank Sinatra and his first Australian trip in 1960 and also telling italian jokes which it was so funny. The show finished at about 10.35pm which many people lined up outside as they were selling posters so I bought one and then Bobby came out to sign the posters as well as stuff people had like programs, vinyls, CD's, pictures and other stuff as well as meeting Barry Roy who played in groups like the Henchmen and Jigsaw(Yellow River) which I got a photo with him and I got a photo with Bobby Rydell, had a Coke Zero and my cousin Gary and his partner Ros took me home. It was a FANTASTIC show which it was a sold out show and everyone had a great time including myself and Bobby still sounds great at the age of 71 (72 on April 26th) as well as the band who backed up Bobby were great too. Besides from Gary and Ros I saw Roger and Graeme of the Avengers(brisbane music group) which Roger showed me the program of the Bobby Rydell and Chubby Checker from 1962, Daryl and Elaine, Pauline and John and and I am very glad that I got to see Bobby Rydell again which I enjoyed it and I hope he does come back again which to those who have not seen him GO and SEE IT which you will the experience of seeing a legendary American singing legend from the 60's as I am sure it will bring back memories for those who grew up in the 60's as well as those who were not born in that era but has an interest in it.
